Opis:: This work describes the teaching of the subject “Systems Interconnection” taught in the Higher School of Telecommunications Engineering of the University of Extremadura, Spain. As soon as students finish the course, they will acquire all the theoretical and practical contents that are taught in the subject, which are detailed in different sections of the subject. In addition, a summary is made of the teaching methodology used and learning results. Finally, the article concludes by detailing the evaluation methodology and, above all, the academic results of the previous courses, where an improvement in results is observed, especially in the percentage of students that have passed all the exams of the subject (approved students onwards), namely by reducing the sum of percentages of those that have not changed their results or have failed the subject’s exams. This improvement has been achieved based on the introduction of continuous assessment in the theoretical section of the subject. In short, it is a descriptive study of the current situation of the subject of “Systems Interconnection.”

Opis:: The paradox of the modern labor market which relies on the talent deficit in conditions of high unemployment rate tends to have a closer look at the category of organizational commitment. It is a specific relationship between an employee and an organization employing them, which means the identification with the goals and values of organizational readiness to act on its behalf and desire to stay in it. The aim of the article is to assess the organizational commitment of engineers and identify the factors affecting it. In the theoretical part of the article an analysis of terminology problems occurring in relation to the category of organizational commitment have been presented. For the studies the concept of organizational commitment by J.P. Meyer and N.J. Allen has been adopted. The concept consists of three dimensions: emotional, duration and normative. In the research part the results of research on the assessment of the level of organizational commitment of staff members in engineering (sample of 453 subjects) have been discussed and the relationship between organizational commitment and socio-demographic characteristics and evaluation of human resource management elements has been examined. The studies have shown that in a group of engineers the organizational commitment shows a significant statistical relationship with age of employees and a form of employment. This category is also affected by human resource management in a company.

Opis:: The article presents a case study of training engineers through social projects in the open source software movement. The project is aimed at development of a mobile application for behavioral therapy of autistic children. The application was developed within the framework of the students' group project carried out at Gdansk University of Technology with the participation of the Institute for Child Development in Gdansk. Paper presents design, implementation and evaluation of system, that supports activity schedule method of therapy. Such assistive technologies could improve behavioral therapy efficiency and as a result support self-care and independence of autistics, hopefully preventing their exclusion from the society. The case was evaluated from two perspectives: technological support provided for autistics' therapy as well as development of students' attitudes. Based on the therapists' and supervisor's evaluation as well as on analysis of final students' report, one might observe, that although student's motivations were diverse at the beginning of the project, by the end they fluctuated towards more intrinsic and altruistic ones. The example shows that the development of young people's sensitivity to social needs could be woven into the curriculum by defining individual projects for social institutions that provide help.

Opis:: This study builds on an existing structural model developed to examine the inﬂuence of leadership and organizational culture on innovation and satisfaction of engineers in Australian public sectors (APS). The objective of this study is to increase the understanding of innovation process with a focus on causal relationships among critical factors. To achieve this objective, the study develops an assessment approach to help predict creativity and work meaningfulness of engineers in the APS. Three quantitative analysis methods were sequentially conducted in this study including correlation analysis, path analysis, and Bayesian networks. A correlation analysis was conducted to pinpoint the strong association between key factors studied. Subsequently, path analysis was employed to identify critical pathways which were accordingly used as a structure to develop Bayesian networks. The ﬁndings of the study revealed practical strategies for promoting (1) transformational leadership and (2) innovative culture in public sector organizations since these two factors were found to be key drivers for individual creativity and work meaningfulness of their engineers. This integrated approach may be used as a decision support tool for managing the innovation process for engineers in the public sectors.

Opis:: Purpose: The article aims to identify areas of knowledge, key skills, and competencies of engineers and managers necessary in the Industry 5.0 environment. Design/methodology/approach: The achievements and results presented in the article were obtained based on literature research and expert research conducted among 25 professionals with experience in management, innovation, and technology of Industry 4.0. The research technique was a standardized interview. Findings: Based on the research results obtained, the essential knowledge areas and competencies of engineers and managers of industrial enterprises oriented to the implementation of the Industry 5.0 concept were identified. Research limitations/implications: The analysis of experts' opinions is only a signaling of the problem of the need for changes in the development of knowledge and competencies of industry employees functioning in the Industry 5.0 environment. The research should be extended to other areas of the economy, e.g., services, education, quality of life, and Society 5.0. Originality/value: Original achievements obtained during the research include getting valuable research results in the areas of knowledge, required key skills, and competencies required of future industry employees. The research results were obtained directly from experts who, through their daily experience, meet the knowledge and competence deficits of modern companies. In addition, experts have the necessary knowledge of new technologies and requirements posed by the Industry 5.0 environment.

Opis:: The phenomenon of job satisfaction is related not only to the aspects of work efficiency and production but also to psychic satisfaction, which is an end in itself, for the structural engineers. This descriptive study aimed to determine and analyze the factors influencing the success of structural engineers Career success was assumed compromise extrinsic (compensation) and intrinsic (job satisfaction) elements. The individual respondents were selected from the list Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP) using purposive sampling. Some interesting insights of the study are (a) The demographic variables of structural engineers, to a large extent contribute to the success of structural engineers. b) The level of career success of structural engineers is dependent on the profile of structural engineers that determine its extrinsic and intrinsic success.
