Opis:: The most common form of mobility associated with the labor market, and also the most desirable for the region development, is the willingness to work outside the place of residence. The tendency of commuting to work shows flexibility and ability to adapt to conditions on the labor market. The aim of this article is the analysis of workers mobility in Poland and Wielkopolska based on data about commuting to work in 2006. A detailed analysis has been prepared based on Jarocin district in 2006 and 2010. The analysis showed that most of the people commuted to work in 2006 in districts located near larger cities and urban areas. They were mostly district towns and cities with district towns which were the central places of the regions. The intensity and different direction of commuting to work increased in Jarocin district in the years 2006-2010.

Professional expectations of the people completing university studies in Poland were compared with the needs of the labour market. Potential willingness to change job and workplace was presented. A tendency to start own business by the young educated Poles, as well as taking additional course of study in order to secure one’s professional future was also analyzed.

Opis:: In the past few years, the transport infrastructure of Sudan radically changed. New roads, transport hubs, or means of transport have a significant imprint on the culture of travelling, and many of the older institutions connected with the phenomenon, are being placed in the past. One of those dying out phenomena is ferry crossing on the Nile. It wasn’t long time ago that ferry was the basic mean of transport throughout riverine area of Sudan. It was the way of transporting people and goods, both along the river and across it. Today, because of the new era of modern motorways and bridges, its time is coming to the end. This is, of course, a pity, since its function was going way beyond its basic transport meaning. What can we learn about Sudan culture from the perspective of Nile ferry – is the fundamental question I shall give the answer to. In the presentation, I’m referring to the field observations made in Northern Sudan in a village of ed Ghaddar in 2013.

Opis:: The street anthropology is identical with the anthropology of urban life. In the past, a street was a place to socialize and, on equal footing with its architecture, it was part of the cultural identity of its inhabitants. The street reflects residents’ social, cultural and economic capital. Over time, mobility and communication accessibility have dominated the urban spatial policy. The contemporary street has become a "space of flows". The restoration of its original role requires a more balanced approach to cultural factors that determine the quality of life in a city. The article discusses characteristic features that determine patterns of mobility in modern streets.
Antropologia ulicy jest antropologią życia miejskiego. Dawna ulica była miejscem kontaktów społecznych i na równi z jej architekturą stanowiła element tożsamości kulturowej mieszkańców. Odzwierciedla ich kapitał społeczny, kulturowy i ekonomiczny. Politykę przestrzenną miast zdominowała problematyka mobilności i komunikacyjnej dostępności terenów. Współczesna ulica stała się – „przestrzenią przepływów”. Przywrócenie jej pierwotnej roli wymaga bardziej zrównoważonego podejścia do kulturowych uwarunkowań jakości życia w mieście. Przedstawiono listę cech identyfikujących wzorce mobilności współczesnych ulic.

As global communities respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increasing emphasis on public health strategies, like implementation of ‘lockdowns’, closure of educational institutions and offices, cancellation of events, and enforcement of social distancing measures to slow the rate of transmission. The main objective of this article is to find out how the public health interventions and national lockdown affected people’s perception and attitudes to limited mobility and how people reacted by their spatial mobility behaviours in new reality of the first weeks of COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. The study is based on the on-line survey research conducted among Polish residents supplemented by the analysis of data on changes in the spatial mobility based on Google dataset. The obtained results highlight high level of self-discipline in the population in response to restrictions and social distancing obligations, and as a result significantly lower spatial mobility level, before the restrictions began to be lifted.
