Opis:
This research study explains the design and performance of a Static VAR Compensator (SVC) coupled Hybrid Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) for low voltage power distribution system (PDS). A comparative analysisis done between Voltage Source Inverter (VSI)-based DSTATCOM and SVC Hybrid DSTATCOM using Jordan Least Mean Square (JLMS) algorithm to alleviate the shunt-related power quality (PQ) glitches. The specific design is obtained as compared to the existing neural network toolbox algorithm to improve the estimation speed and accuracy. The main objective is to extract the tuned weighted values of fundamental active and reactive power components of distorted load currents for the switching signal generation using an adaptive JLMS algorithm. Several functions of DSTATCOM and hybrid DSTATCOM using this JLMS controller are showcased for harmonics curtailment, power factor (p.f.) improvement, load balancing, voltage regulation, etc. Simulation results on an SVC Hybrid DSTATCOM have shown an acceptable level of performance under unbalanced loading situations. Finally, some comparative results are provided to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the suggested topology.

Opis:
This paper is focused on increasing the power quality of Unique Macaroni factory, located in Bahir Dar Town. Necessary data have been collected from the factory and the collected data are analysed. Based on the analysis of data, it is found that the factory working power factor is low and hovering around 0.7125. Voltage variations are up to 9.09%, average voltage unbalance is 2.2% and total harmonic distortion (THD) of load currents and voltage are 24.17% and 10.16%, respectively. Harmonic components have existed in the power distribution system of the factory. Based on the analysis of power quality problem in the factory, distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) and its control system have been designed to boost power quality of the factory and the results are obtained by generating simulations using Matlab software. It is observed from outputs of the Matlab simulations that DSTATCOM can improve the power quality of the factory. Generally, the shape of the waveform of load voltage and current is improved and THD level of load voltage is minimised to 1.55% and load current THD level is 7.09%. The reactive power needed by the loads (442 kVAr) is almost provided by the DSTATCOM, so reactive power from source supply is very small such as 22 kVAr so that the power factor of the source tends to unity.

Opis:
This paper presents the shunt compensation performance of quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI) and back to back connected QZSIs (BB-QZSI) to address the power quality (PQ) issues in the three-phase three-wire power utility network (PUN). Generally, these PQ issues are poor voltage regulation, low power factor (PF), source current distortion, unbalanced voltage, etc. The proposed BB-QZSI-based distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) consists of two QZSIs with a common dc-link capacitor. Because the QZSI could achieve buck/boost conversion as well as DC to AC inversion in a single-stage and the back to back configuration decreases the system down time cost (if a fault occurs in one QZSI the other can continue the shunt compensation). Particularly, icosφ control algorithmcontrol algorithm is implemented to generate proper switching pulses for the switches of DSTATCOM. The effectiveness of the BB-QZSI is verified through simulation studies over QZSI using MATLAB/Simulink software satisfying the recommended grid code.

Opis:
This paper proposes a model to allocate photovoltaic unit (PVU) and distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) that incorporate the operation effect of PVU in sizing and sitting problem. The model is based on the dynamic assessment of PVU production and the effect of it on placement of PVU and DSTATCOM. Geographical conditions are interfered in placement problem of PVU and DSTATCOM simultaneously. The model is verified in a multi-objective form. The multi-objective problem is formulated based on voltage stability, liability, power loss and total cost of PVU and DSTATCOM. This problem is solved by employing optimization techniques and the results of optimization processes are tested in different scenarios. Uncertainty in network loads is an inevitable task that should be considered in network planning. Uncertainty in the presented model has been defined as a set of divided parts in the presented model. The proposed model has been evaluated on two test systems, 30 bus and 69 bus. The obtained results indicate that the presented model can be employed to study the intermittent behavior of PVU in placement problem.

Opis:
The DTSTACOM is a power quality compensator that can be used in the distribution grid to compensate the demand of reactive power, which can be produced by different linear and non-linear loads. In this process, the control method of DSTATCOM is one of the key factors influencing the performance of DSTATCOM. This study aims to analyse the effect of two modulation schemes, Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Hysteresis Current Control (HCC), under several conditions. The proposed modelling approach and Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory are used to verify reactive power compensation and total harmonic distortion (THD). Further, PWM and Hysteresis Current Control (HCC) with proportional-integral (PI) controller simulated in MATLAB for different cases, and percentage THD was calculated to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method for the control of reactive power and THD with grid-connected DSTATCOM. The results presented here justify that the HCC controller can be better than the PWM method to generate the PWM pulses for reduction of harmonics under various conditions of DTSTACOM to compensate the reactive power. Additionally, the simulation was performed to check the efficacy of the projected method to reduce THD by varying the current control band of HCC.

Opis:
With the rapid advancement of the technology, deep learning supported voltage source converter (VSC)-based distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM) for power quality (PQ) improvement has attracted significant interest due to its high accuracy. In this paper, six subnets are structured for the proposed deep learning approach (DL-Approach) algorithm by using its own mathematical equations. Three subnets for active and the other three for reactive weight components are used to extract the fundamental component of the load current. These updated weights are utilised for the generation of the reference source currents for VSC. Hysteresis current controllers (HCCs) are employed in each phase in which generated switching signal patterns need to be carried out from both predicted reference source current and actual source current. As a result, the proposed technique achieves better dynamic performance, less computation burden and better estimation speed. Consequently, the results were obtained for different loading conditions using MATLAB/Simulink software. Finally, the feasibility was effective as per the benchmark of IEEE guidelines in response to harmonics curtailment, power factor (p.f) improvement, load balancing and voltage regulation.

Opis:
This study suggests an asymmetric multilevel inverter based on DSTATCOM that employs SVPWM techniques to produce higher output levels. There are two steps in the suggested inverter. One full bridge and two half bridges make up the inverter's main stage. A full bridge converter had four switches and a single DC source, while half bridges have separate DC sources with a voltage ratio of 1:3:3. Every cell has a fixed neutral point and is connected in a cascaded fashion. The inverter's performance is not improved by setting the DC source values equally. A folded cascaded H-bridge circuit running at a line frequency makes up the second circuit. Control plan PWM's space vector modulation was used to verify the suggested topology. Each control scheme's specific methodology as well as switching pulses are covered in great detail. In MATLAB/Simulink, the suggested system has been simulated with an output voltage of 350 V and an output current of roughly 3.5 A.
Jeden pełny mostek i dwa półmostki tworzą główny stopień falownika. Przetwornica z pełnym mostkiem ma cztery przełączniki i pojedyncze źródło prądu stałego, podczas gdy półmostki mają oddzielne źródła prądu stałego o stosunku napięć 1:3:3. Do weryfikacji proponowanej topologii wykorzystano modulację wektora przestrzennego PWM. Szczegółowo omówiono metodologię każdego schematu sterowania, a także impulsy przełączające. W programie MATLAB/Simulink zasugerowany system został zasymulowany przy napięciu wyjściowym 350 V i prądzie wyjściowym około 3,5 A.
