Opis:
In this paper the combined method of calculating thermal and electromagnetic fields of a cylindrical inductor, which is loaded by a bundle of ferromagnetic rods, has been developed. The method is based on the analytical solution of the electromagnetic characteristics and 2-D (FEM) simulation of the allocation of temperature fields by finite element method. It was found that the steady state of the inductor, which has the installed capacity of 4.5 kW, comes in 350—100 s. after heating, the maximum temperature of the rods in the central zone is 68°C, the temperature of the heated material - 48°C, which satisfies the technological process of heating the seeds before removing oil.
Obliczanie pola temperatur cewki indukcyjnej obciążonej wiązką prętów ferromagnetycznych. Opracowano metodę obliczeń pola temperatur i charakterystyki elektromagnetycznej wymiennika ciepła w postaci cylindrycznej cewki indukcyjnej obciążonej wiązką prętów ferromagnetycznych.

Opis:
Numerical solution of acoustic wave equation in the time domain is performed. The appropriate mathematical model is described by the partial differential wave equation supplemented with appropriate boundary conditions. The goal is to obtain the time evolution of the distribution of acoustic pressure, which can serve as the basis for the solution of various subsequent problems. The paper discusses the results of the numerical analysis of a semicircular acoustic diffuser in a free field, realized by a fully adaptive higher-order finite element method implemented in our own codes Agros2D and Hermes. The results are compared with the data obtained by the commercial code Comsol Multiphysics.

Opis:
The paper describes a critical comparison of mean field and full field approaches to modelling hot deformation/controlled cooling sequences for steels. Classification of the models, based on the balance between predictive capabilities and computing costs, is presented. Mean field models, which describe microstructure evolution and phase transformations were connected with thermomechanical finite element program and applied to simulation of the hot strip rolling process and cooling of tubes after hot rolling. Full field model described in the paper is a connection of the finite element (FE) and level set (LSM) methods. These methods were used to simulate heating/cooling sequence in the continuous annealing line. A suggestion to use a stochastic model as a bridge between mean field and full field approaches is made.

Opis:
A complete proposal of induction shrink fit between a disk and shaft is presented. The proposal consists of two parts. First, a suitable interference between both parts has to be suggested that is be able to transfer the required mechanical torque at a permissible mechanical stress. Then, the process of induction heating of the disk before its putting on the shaft is mapped. The model of the process respecting all nonlinearities is solved numerically in the hard-coupled formulation. The methodology is illustrated with the example of induction shrink fit between the active wheel of gas turbine and shaft.

This paper presents and discusses the mathematical model of thermal phenomena occurring in axis-symmetric electromechanical linear motion converters. On the basis of the developed model, software to analyze the process of the heating up of this type of converters, was created. The effect of the thickness and type of material of the slot insulation, as well as the speed of the runner on the temperature distribution in the analyzed object was examined in-depth. Selected results of simulated calculations have been presented.

Opis:
The transport of fission gases in UO2 based nuclear fuels has a significant effect on the fuel performance. They can induce swelling of the fuel by the nucleation of gas bubbles within the fuel, and increase the mechanical interaction between the UO2 pellet and the cladding; also these bubbles can escape through the grain boundaries and contribute to the gaseous atmosphere in the fuel pin. We propose a model for the redistribution of xenon in the presence of different sinks, including nucleation and growth of gas bubbles. The finite element method has been implemented for the numerical solution of the model.

Opis:
The determination of the thermal-elastic behavior is one of the main aspects in the design phase of new machine frames. Prototypically simulation models are used for preliminary investigations, which are based on finite element approaches and usually work with simplified material laws. By the manufacturing of machine frames of concrete steel reinforcements are used to ensure the operation reliability due to the high sensitivity of concrete to tensile stresses. Because of different thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity of steel and concrete the reinforcement has a not negligible influence on the total thermal behavior of the system, which cannot be covered with conventional material laws, e.g. from material libraries. Preliminary investigations show, that a volume fraction more than 1 % of the reinforcement of the total volume can cause a relative error up to ten percent in the temperature field. To reflect the real behavior of reinforced concrete for a machine bed, the influence should be exanimated for two different approaches. Next to the real illustration of the geometry of the reinforcement in the FE-model, decoupled simulation approaches are used on reduced models, which should approach numerically the material behavior of the reinforcement.

Opis:
In present paper an improved multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is used for Pareto optimization of selected coupled problems. Coupling of mechanical, electrical and thermal fields is considered. Boundary-value problems of the thermo-elasticity, piezoelectricity and electro-thermo-elasticity are solved by means of finite element method (FEM). Ansys Multiphysics and MSC.Mentat/Marc software are used to solve considered coupled problems. Suitable interfaces between optimization tool and the FEM software are created. Different types of functionals are formulated on the basis of results obtained from the coupled field analysis. Functionals depending on the area or volume of the structure are also proposed. Parametric curves NURBS are used to model some optimized structures. Numerical examples for exemplary three-objective optimization are presented in the paper.

Opis:
This paper deals with some aspects of formulation and implementation of a broadband algorithm with build-in analysis of some dispersive media. The construction of the finite element method (FEM) based on direct integration of Maxwell’s equations and solution of some additional convolution integrals is presented. The broadband, fractional model of permittivity is approximated by a set of some relaxation sub-models. The properties of the 3D time-dependent formulation of the FEM algorithm are determined using a benchmark problem with the Cole-Cole and the Davidson-Cole models. Several issues associated with the implementation and some constraints of the broadband finite element algorithm are presented.
