Opis:: Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia Międzynarodowej Konferencji Naukowej Multivariate Statistical Analysis (MSA), przede wszystkim jej wkładu w rozwój statystyki i roli w integracji środowiska statystyków z kraju i zagranicy. Podczas konferencji – organizowanej przez Instytut Ekonometrii i Statystyki Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego od 1981 r. – prezentowane są najnowsze osiągnięcia z zakresu wielowymiarowej analizy statystycznej. To spotkanie naukowców z wielu ośrodków, którzy tworzą forum wymiany poglądów na temat kierunków rozwoju metod statystycznych oraz upowszechniania wiedzy z zakresu statystyki publicznej, analizy danych i zastosowania metod statystycznych. W 2022 r. odbyła się jubileuszowa, 40. edycja konferencji co skłania do podsumowania jej bogatego dorobku.
The aim of the article is to show the significance of the International Scientific Conference on Multivariate Statistical Analysis (MSA), focusing mostly on its contribution to the development of statistics and its role in integrating the domestic and international statistical community. The conference, organised since 1981 by the Institute of Econometrics and Statistics of the University of Lodz, presents the most recent achievements in the field of multivariate statistical analysis. It brings together scientists from many institutions, thus creating a platform for exchanging views on the recommended directions of the development of statistical methods as well as the popularisation of knowledge connected to official statistics, data analysis and the applications of statistical methods. The year 2022 marked the 40th, jubilee edition of the conference, which was the inspiration for the overview of this event’s significant contribution to the field of statistics.

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to determine the level of diversification of Polish voivodeships in terms of the selected indicators of transport infrastructure. The data collected from the Local Data Bank of Central Statistical Office will be used in the paper. By means of some methods of linear ordering and cluster analysis the ordering and classification of the Polish voivodeships will be carried out. The obtained results will allow to make an evaluation of Polish voivodeships in terms of the level of development of transport infrastructure.

Opis:: The purpose of the work was to determine the relationship between the of the water quality parameters in an artificial reservoir used as cooling ponds. Factor analysis were applied to analyze eighteen physico- -chemical parameters such as air and water temperature, dissolved oxygen concentration, visibility of the Secchi disk, concentrations of total nitrogen, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, total phosphorus, phosphate, concentrations of calcium, magnesium, chlorides, sulfates and total dissolved salts, pH, chemical oxygen demand and electric conductivity from 2002-2019 to investigated cooling water discharge. Exploratory factor analysis allowed identified four factors were obtained from 54.1% (in discharge zone) to 56.7% (in dam zone). In discharge and pelagic zones confirmatory factor analysis showed that four latent variables: salinity, temperature, nitrogen and phosphorus provide good fit, but in the dam zone the better fit was obtained for the latent variables salinity, temperature, nutrient and eutrophic. Correlations between latent variables temperature, nitrogen, phosphorus or nutrient and eutrophic show a significant effect of temperature on the transformation of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds.

Opis:: Satisfying customers' needs, is a challenge for many companies in today’s rapidly changing environment. To study customer needs and preferences conjoint analysis can be used. Conjoint analysis is a multidimensional method used to understand how consumers define their preferences for specific products or services. Conjoint analysis means constructing and conducting particular experiments among consumers in order to model their decision making process. The article is divided into two parts. In the first one the authors present general characteristics of the method and in the second one they interpret the results of their own empirical research.
Zaspokajanie potrzeb klientów jest wyzwaniem dla wielu firm w dzisiejszym szybko zmieniającym się otoczeniu. Do poznania preferencji i potrzeb klientów można wykorzystać np. analizę conjoint. Conjoint analysis jest wielowymiarową metodą wykorzystywaną do ustalenia w jaki sposób konsumenci wyznaczają swoje preferencje w stosunku do określonych produktów lub usług. Analiza conjoint oznacza projektowanie i prowadzenie eksperymentów wśród konsumentów w celu modelowania ich procesu decyzyjnego. Prezentowany artykuł podzielony na dwie części, zawiera ogólną charakterystykę metody, jak również metodykę prowadzenia badań z wykorzystaniem analizy conjoint oraz przedstawia interpretację wyników własnych badań empirycznych na temat preferencji konsumentów na przykładzie rynku transportu miejskiego.

Opis:: The European Union as a whole tends to be a highly diversified entity. Therefore it should not be surprising that the main goal of EU authorities is the limitation of inequalities among member countries. The aim of this study is to identify some groups of countries from the EU that show similar characteristics concerning the functioning of healthcare sectors. The selected countries will be analysed through the prism of characteristics connected with the financial and organizational issues. The study will be backed up by a chosen multivariate statistical analysis — cluster analysis.

Opis:: W artykule analizie poddano poziom atrakcyjności turystycznej województw w Polsce. Pojęcie atrakcyjności turystycznej jest pewną ogólną, wielowymiarową charakterystyką którą należy zmierzyć, aby porównać analizowane obiekty (w tym wypadku województwa), przy czym decydującą rolę w badaniach tego typu pojęć ma, poza odpowiednimi metodami statystycznymi, ostateczna lista zmiennych diagnostycznych reprezentujących merytoryczny przedmiot analizy. Ze względu na przyjęte kryterium ogólne reprezentowane przez ujęte w badaniu cechy przeprowadzono porządkowanie i grupowanie województw.
Quantitative methods find a great application in analysis processes, diagnoses and economic prognoses by means of description and estimation of forming economic variables in time and space as well as expectations regarding direction and character of changes of these variables are becoming more precise. In the article the level of tourist attractiveness of Polish provinces has been analysed. The sequence of individual provinces has been established considering a stated general criterium represented by the suggested variables in the research and cluster analysis has been carried out to isolate subgroups of similar provinces.

Opis:: Economic poverty is one of the more common and complex problems in the modern world, as well as in Poland. This is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon, and therefore there is no single universally valid definition of poverty. This article presents a statistical analysis of economic poverty in Poland based on real data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland. An in-depth statistical analysis of the social situation of Poles will be presented, as well as an attempt to examine interdependencies in the occurrence of various forms of poverty and social exclusion in Poland. In the article, several multivariate statistical methods are presented together with the graphical presentation of results. We present a correspondence analysis with a perception map, as well as the advanced modern visualizing tool for categorical data. All the calculations were conducted using R software.
