Opis:: The paper presents the issue of measurement consistency Maintaining the rules of measurement consistency is a condition to obtain the reliable results of measurements. In the first part of the article the general rules described in the standards and other documents are presented. The second part shows the practical application of the rules of measurement consistency in the Laboratory of Rail Vehicles Tests. The article is an extension of the subjects raised in the article "Metrology - basic institutions, legal standards and rules of operation."
W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie spójności pomiarowej. Zachowanie zasad spójności pomiarowej jest warunkiem uzyskania wiarygodnych wyników pomiarów. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono ogólne zasady opisane w normach i innych dokumentach. W drugiej części pokazano praktyczne zastosowanie zasad spójności pomiarowej w Laboratorium Badań Pojazdów Szynowych TABOR w Poznaniu. Artykuł stanowi kontynuację tematyki poruszonej w artykule „Metrologia – podstawowe instytucje, normy prawne i zasady działania” [12].

Opis:: Cloning of genetically-modified mammals to produce: 1) novel animal bioreactors expressing human genes in rens, urinary bladder and the male accessory sex glands, as well as 2) porcine organs suitable in pig-to-human xenotransplantology, could offer new advantages for biomedical purposes. So too does the generation and/or multiplication of genetically-engineered cloned animals in order to produce: 3) physiologically-relevant animal models of serious monogenic human diseases and 4) prion disease-resistant small as well as large animals (i.e., rodents, ruminants). The basic purpose of this paper is to overview current knowledge deciphering the possibilities of using transgenic specimens created by somatic cell nuclear transfer in medical pharmacology, veterinary medicine, agriculture, transplantational medicine and immunology.

Opis:: The results of tests presented herein can have practical applications for the adjustment of rotary speed to ensure constant contact between the measuring sensor’s spindle tip and the crankshaft journal of a piston energy converter, whose roundness profile is being measured. Analytical considerations have been supported by the results of simulations as well as experimental tests. The research has also shown that an increase in rotary speed affects the obtained profile shape and the value of determined roundness deviation.

Opis:: Stosowanie metody porównawczej w obszarze nauk jest powszechne i ma długą tradycję. Mimo to nie stosuje się tworzenia odrębnych porównawczych dyscyplin na szeroką skalę. Uznaje się raczej przydatność stosowania metody porównawczej jako jednego z wielu sposobów badania rzeczywistości. Tym bardziej przydatny w inżynierii rolniczej – ze względu na dużą różnorodność budowy obiektów technicznych i związane z nimi procesy, które najłatwiej analizować stosując metodę porównawczą. Badania porównawcze w inżynierii rolniczej można wykorzystywać na etapie projektowania, budowy i eksploatacji maszyn rolniczych, jak również do porównywania innych procesów zachodzących w obszarze techniki. Badania przeprowadzono na przykładzie informacji uzyskiwanych za pomocą komputerowych testów diagnostycznych, wykorzystywanych do diagnostyki ciągników rolniczych oraz wybranych procesów obsługowych planowanych przeglądów serwisowych.
Using a comparative study in the area of sciences is universal and has a long tradition. However, separate comparative disciplines are not created at a wide scale. Usefulness of applying the comparative study method is one among many of ways of examining the reality. It is useful on account of the great diversity of the structure of agricultural engineering objects and processes associated with them, which can be easily analyzed with the use of the comparative study. In the agricultural engineering it is possible to compare things and processes at the stage of the design, the structure and the use of agricultural machines, as well as to compare other processes occurring in the area of the technique. The study was conducted on the example of the information obtained through computerized diagnostic tests used in the diagnosis of farm tractors and the selected processes of planned maintenance service review.

Opis:: The article describes applications and accuracy analyses of a statistical model of light absorption by phytoplankton that accounts for the influence of photo- and chromatic acclimation on its absorption properties. Part 1 of this work (seeWoźniak et al. 2000, this volume) describes the mathematical apparatus of the model. Earlier models by Woźniak & Ostrowska (1990) and by Bricaud et al. (1995, 1998) are analysed for comparison. Empirical verification of these three models shows that the new model provides a much better approximation of phytoplankton absorption properties than do the earlier models. The statistical errors in estimating the mean absorption coefficient apl, for example, are σ+ = 36% for the new model, whereas for the earlier models the figures are σ+ = 43% (Bricaud et al. 1995, 1998) and σ+ = 59% (Woźniak & Ostrowska 1990). Example applications are given of the new model illustrating the variability in phytoplankton absorption properties with depth and trophicity of the sea.

Opis:: Centralne Laboratorium Kryminalistyczne Policji podjęło się przetestowania systemu eSURV. Głównym celem badań było rozpoznanie możliwości systemu i określenie jego przydatności dla policjantów obsługujących miejsca zdarzeń. Badania wykazały między innymi, że system cechuje duża precyzja pomiaru, łatwość obsługi, krótki czas przeprowadzenia oględzin, w pełni polskie oprogramowanie oraz kompatybilność z polskimi programami specjalistycznymi będącymi na wyposażeniu wielu jednostek policji. Obecność systemu eSURV podczas oględzin w znaczący sposób ułatwi pracę funkcjonariuszy zabezpieczających miejsce zdarzenia na każdym etapie dokumentowania, od przeprowadzenia oględzin do wykonania szkiców.
Experts from the Central Forensic Laboratory of the Police tested eSURV system with the view of identifying the potential and usefulness of the system for police officers who undertake scene examination. The tests demonstrated, among others, that the system is capable of making high-accuracy measurement, easily operated, and provides for a short time of scene examination. Polish language version of the software and compatibility with specialist programmes which are used across various police units in Poland belongs to additional assets of the system. The on-site application of eSURV system significantly facilitates the work of police officers who secure scene of crime at each documenting stage, i.e. starting from scene investigation through making sketches.

Opis:: This paper describes the applications and accuracy analyses of our multi-component model of marine photosynthesis, given in detail in Woźniak et al. (2003). We now describe an application of the model to determine quantities characterising the photosynthesis of marine algae, especially the quantum yield of photosynthesis and photosynthetic primary production. These calculations have permitted the analysis of the variability of these photosynthesis characteristics in a diversity of seas, at different seasons, and at different depths. Because of its structure, the model can be used as the ‘marine part’ of a ‘satellite’ algorithm for monitoring primary production in the sea (the set of input data necessary for the calculations can be determined with remote sensing methods). With this in mind, in the present work, we have tested and verified the model using empirical data. The verification yielded satisfactory results: for example, the statistical errors in estimates of primary production in the water column for Case 1 Waters do not exceed 45%. Hence, this model is far more accurate than earlier, less complex models hitherto applied in satellite algorithms.

Opis:: This paper is the second part of the description of the first stage of the SatBałtyk project’s implementation. Part 1 (Woźniak et al. 2011, in this issue) presents the assumptions and objectives of SatBałtyk and describes the most important stages in the history of our research, which is the foundation of this project. It also discusses the operation and general structure of the SatBałtyk system. Part 2 addresses various aspects of the practical applicability of the SatBałtyk Operational System to Baltic ecosystem monitoring. Examples are given of the Baltic’s characteristics estimated using the preliminary versions of the algorithms in this Operational System. At the current stage of research, these algorithms apply mainly to the characteristics of the solar energy influx and the distribution of this energy among the various processes taking place in the atmosphere-sea system, and also to the radiation balance of the sea surface, the irradiance conditions for photosynthesis and the condition of plant communities in the water, sea surface temperature distributions and some other marine phenomena correlated with this temperature. Monitoring results obtained with these preliminary algorithms are exemplified in the form of distribution maps of selected abiotic parameters of the Baltic, as well as structural and functional characteristics of this ecosystem governed by these parameters in the Baltic’s many basins. The maps cover practically the whole area of the Baltic Sea. Also given are results of preliminary inspections of the accuracy of the magnitudes shown on the maps. In actual fact, the errors of these estimates are relatively small. The further practical application of this set of algorithms (to be gradually made more specific) is therefore entirely justified as the basis of the SatBałtyk system for the effective operational monitoring of the state and functioning of Baltic ecosystems. This article also outlines the plans for extending SatBałtyk to include the recording of the effects and hazards caused by current and expected storm events in the Polish coastal zone.
