Opis:
The paper presents results of simulation conducted as afirst step of 4-stroke spark ignition experimental engine testing. The simulations were performed in a KIVA-3Vsoftware, which is intended to carry out a 3-D simulations of engine's processes. The source code of the software has been modified in order to apply it for gas injection. Original version of the software has been designedto simulate liquid fuel injection only. The simulation of direct CNG injection and combustion has been done for stratified and homogenous modes in order to check the assumed injection, ignition and charging parameters. Important assumption is that the injector had only one nozzle with flow area equal to 2 mm2. Two different cases of fuel direct injection for stratified charge have been analysed. In the first case fuel jet was almost vertical. In the other one fuel jet was nearly horizontal. Further testing has been performed using one-cylinder motorcycle 4-stroke SUZUKI DR-Z400S engine adapted to CNG fuelling. Such an engine has a suitable high compression ratio for CNG fuelling. The simulation has confirmed assumed parameters and has shown that one nozzle injector doesn't provide required fuel stream dissipation and piston crown modification is needed to direct fuel stream in spark plug area. However doing simulation requires some effort this example has shown than this is very important step before conducting experimental tests which provides crucial information and helps to avoid expensive mistakes which can be made during experimental engine preparation.

Opis:
The paper considers the problem of the influence of constitutive model parameters on the results of FEM-based simulation of the orthogonal cutting process using C45 (AISI 1045) carbon steel and multilayer-coated carbide tool. The simulations were based on the power constitutive law (PL) with a special consideration of the temperature-related thermal influences. The sensitivity analysis performed concerns the models proposed by Özel and Kalhori and own data in the form of multi-regressive equations for the substrate and coating components that were applied. In particular, the values of n exponent were varied in order to assess the simulation results. The FEM simulations include the average interface temperature, the distribution of temperature on the rake face and within the wedge body, as well as cutting forces. By modifying the PL parameters, the prediction errors lower than 15% were obtained.

Opis:
The world around us is a very complex and multi-parametric system, like the weather, traffic, operation of machines, production processes, service processes, etc. Understanding of the characteristics, operation and behaviour of these systems and processes is not easy due to their complexity. The design of optimal production and service procedures is an essential task for planners. The target is the increasing of the efficiency of the production and service and analysis of the effect of parameter changing. There are lot of tools and sophisticated methods for design, analysis and improvement of logistical processes. The most often used analysis tool is the simulation in the production processes. Our aim in this article is to show that the simulation can be used efficiently in case of analysis of service processes, not only in case of production processes. The simulation is available for bottleneck analysis of service activities not only for production processes. In this study the simulation of a service process was realized by the AnyLogic software. The relevance of the simulation technique for analysis of complex service processes is proved by a case study of a service and maintenance activity of a multinational shopping centre.

Opis:
The simulation and modelling paradigms have significantly shifted in recent years under the influence of the Industry 4.0 concept. There is a requirement for a much higher level of detail and a lower level of abstraction within the simulation of a modelled system that continuously develops. Consequently, higher demands are placed on the construction of automated process models. Such a possibility is provided by automated process discovery techniques. Thus, the paper aims to investigate the performance of automated process discovery techniques within the controlled environment. The presented paper aims to benchmark the automated discovery techniques regarding realistic simulation models within the controlled environment and, more specifically, the logistics process of a manufacturing company. The study is based on a hybrid simulation of logistics in a manufacturing company that implemented the AnyLogic framework. The hybrid simulation is modelled using the BPMN notation using BIMP, the business process modelling software, to acquire data in the form of event logs. Next, five chosen automated process discovery techniques are applied to the event logs, and the results are evaluated. Based on the evaluation of benchmark results received using the chosen discovery algorithms, it is evident that the discovery algorithms have a better overall performance using more extensive event logs both in terms of fitness and precision. Nevertheless, the discovery techniques perform better in the case of smaller data sets, with less complex process models. Typically, automated discovery techniques have to address scalability issues due to the high amount of data present in the logs. However, as demonstrated, the process discovery techniques can also encounter issues of opposite nature. While discovery techniques typically have to address scalability issues due to large datasets, in the case of companies with long delivery cycles, long processing times and parallel production, which is common for the industrial sector, they have to address issues with incompleteness and lack of information in datasets. The management of business companies is becoming essential for companies to stay competitive through efficiency. The issues encountered within the simulation model will be amplified through both vertical and horizontal integration of the supply chain within the Industry 4.0. The impact of vertical integration in the BPMN model and the chosen case identifier is demonstrated. Without the assumption of smart manufacturing, it would be impossible to use a single case identifier throughout the entire simulation. The entire process would have to be divided into several subprocesses.

Opis:
The article deals with the modelling of the technological process at a quarry. The process modelling was carried out applying the simulation. The analysis of the operations performed within the technological process was used as the basis for the creation of the simulation model in the ExtendSim simulation software. The model simulation consisted of two parts. The first part represented the work cycle of a lorry – loading the lorry, a journey with the loaded material, emptying the load and a journey back to the loading station. The second part represented the work cycle of a loader that loads the material onto the lorry. The designed model was used to carry out several experiments. The article presents the results of two experiments. The simulation experiments were carried out for two different simulated times; the simulated time of 1 hour and the simulated time of 7.5 hours, representing 1 work shift. The results of the simulation comprised several parameters of time- and operation-related indicators. The presented simulation model is an appropriate accessory tool for the decision-making process when designing new systems or assessing the existing ones.

Opis:
The paper presents the method of modeling and determining the components of grinding forces based on the analysis of energetic phenomena accompanying grinding. The global energy-saving manufacturing is the most important problem to be solved nowadays. Limitation of energy consumption during grinding process, even in a small percentage, could be highly profitable in macro scale. From among the numerous publications dealing with the subject of the paper there were selected and analyzed those concerning the development of grinding technology, especially describing energetic aspects of the process. The paper focuses on the detailed procedure of determining grain contact with the material machined, the result of which is possibility of measuring the grinding forces in a laboratory. The procedure of determining a single grain contact profile is described. The paper presents a new concept of the analytical procedure for calculating the grain load in the grinding zone by taking into account the process of ploughing and side pile-up formation on the lengthwise of the cut. The authors also took into consideration random character of the grain contact by introducing empirical coefficients defining the probability of chip formation. There are presented the models of calculating the single grain cutting force components and the most efficient solutions, determined from computer simulations, for reducing the energy consumption during grinding when keeping the final quality of the workpiece surface.
