Opis:: The motivation for writing the article was better understanding of opportunities from implementation of the blockchain. Although the block chain as a foundational technology could make the paradigm shift in many industries its successful deployments are still in their infancy. The scope of research encompasses business to business transportation network for which concept of deployment of blockchain was developed and verified with practitioners. The used methods embrace literature review which was the background to conduct research including structured interviews, semi structured interviews, unstructured interviews, participant and non-participant observation. Supporting the visibility platform with consensus achieving as well as scenarios that follow smart contracts are opportunities within which blockchain technology can help to unlock value in a transportation network, a part of supply chain. Block chain is to be deployed as the part solutions supporting less futuristic solutions and the process of deployment the process of adoption will be graduał and steady.

Tytuł:: How cultural organisations use digital technologies to enhance circular business models

Opis:: Cultural organisation must focus on their artistic and cultural goals, but also contribute to solving social, economic and environmental problems. Currently circular economy is the newest approach to sustainable development and one of the key global challenges. On the micro level business models must change into more circular ones. In this regard using digital technologies and virtualisation remains one of the least researched areas of circular business models. The aim of this paper is to better understand how cultural organisation use digital technologies to build more circular business models. First, this paper employs a literature review to propose a conceptualisation of circular business model framework. In the next step the instrumental case study of YouTube Symphony Orchestra has been conducted to analyse how virtualisation has been applied to business model components. The results allowed to describe virtualisation-based circular business model, identify its three types, and to recognise its strategic importance.

Uwarunkowania amerykańsko-chińskiej integracji finansowej i konkurencji technologicznej

Opis:: Rozwojowi chińskiego rynku finansowego, podobnie jak rozwojowi rynku finansowego w Stanach Zjednoczonych, w ciągu kilku ostatnich dekad towarzyszył bardzo zaawansowany proces cyfryzacji. W rezultacie Chiny i Stany Zjednoczone stały się największymi centrami finansowymi, bazującymi na zaawansowanych rozwiązaniach technologicznych. Bardzo daleko posunięta konkurencja gospodarcza między tymi dwoma krajami prowadzi do ich technologicznej rywalizacji. Równocześnie występują procesy, prowadzące do coraz większej współzależności rynków finansowych obu państw. Celem artykułu jest analiza rozwoju chińskiego rynku finansowego oraz porównanie cech tego rynku z cechami rynku finansowego Stanów Zjednoczonych. Dokonano oceny, do jakiego stopnia oba systemy finansowe są współzależne mimo nasilającej się rywalizacji gospodarczej i technologicznej.
The development of the Chinese financial market over the past few decades, as well as the financial market in the United States, has been accompanied by a very advanced process of digitization. As a result of the changes taking place, China and the United States have become the largest financial centers based on advanced financial technologies. The very far-reaching economic competition between the two countries leads to an economic and technological rivalry between the two economies. At the same time, there are processes leading to increasing interdependence of the financial markets of both countries. The aim of the article is to analyze the processes of development of the Chinese financial market to compare the features of this market with the features of the financial market of the United States. Particular attention was paid to the role of FinTech in the development of both financial markets. An assessment was made of the extent to which the two financial systems are interdependent, despite increasing economic and technological rivalry.

Opis:: The paper introduces Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which is an emerging and cutting-edge conception of business processes automation, based on the notion of software robots or artificial intelligence workers. The paper is conceptual as it discusses the fundamentals behind this idea, synthesises the knowledge of technology, and presents it in a new context. It is based on the author’s considerations and the literature review, which contributes to the insight into the basic understanding of RPA technology as well as systematises and clarifies RPA definitions, identifies market trends, formulates a set of predictions for further development of this technology, and highlights directions for future inquiry. Additionally, logical arguments are proposed for considering RPA as a technology that enables and advances digital transformation. Moreover, criteria are indicated for business processes suitable for RPA. Nowadays, the robotisation of business processes as innovative technology is more often practically implemented than it is investigated by research. Published papers outline real examples of implemented cases of RPA technology in organisations that mainly represent service industries. These case studies allow identifying possible advantages and risks derived from RPA implementation. Recent studies also report benefits of the RPA application in terms of productivity, costs, service quality, and error reduction. Some authors propose the criteria for selecting processes suitable for automation and robotisation. This paper constitutes a foundation for new research aimed at filling knowledge gaps in this area. Responding to the call by van der Aalst, academic discourse on RPA must be initiated.

Opis:: Głównym celem artykułu jest identyfikacja implikacji technologii cyfrowych dla praktyk zwinnych i szczupłych organizacji. Autor podejmuje dwie perspektywy analizy, z których pierwsza dotyczy wychodzenia naprzeciw oczekiwaniom logistycznym klientów, a druga odnosi się do możliwości wykorzystania potencjału cyfryzacji. Zastosowana metodyka objęła przegląd literatury przedmiotu, jak również wykorzystanie takich metod, jak obserwacja uczestnicząca, wywiady ustrukturyzowane, półustrukturyzowane, nieustrukturyzowane. Technologie cyfrowe powodują konwergencję stosowanych rozwiązań w ramach zidentyfikowanych w trakcie badań praktyk: super zwinnej, zwinnej, standardowej, szczupłej. Zidentyfikowane rozwiązania, głównie w formie platform, pomagają obsługiwać potrzeby logistyczne klientów w dowolnym zakresie. Zatem mimo różnicowania potrzeb logistycznych dzięki zastosowaniu technologii cyfrowych można jednocześnie spełniać warunki podejścia szczupłego i zwinnego, a także innych zidentyfikowanych praktyk. Przeprowadzone badania wypełniają lukę występującą między dyskusją dotyczącą technologii cyfrowych a potencjalnymi implikacjami w zakresie działań organizacji, w tym w odniesieniu do zaspokajania potrzeb logistycznych.
The main purpose of this article is to identify the implications of digital technologies for lean and agile practices in organization. The impact of digital technology on the organization’s activities is being discussed amongst scholars. It has also become an area of interest for business practitioners because of the sharp fall in prices of the technology. Author raised two research perspectives including meeting logistics needs of customer as well as deployment of the potential of digital technologies. Applied research methodology includes literature review and participant observation in line with structured, semi-structured and not structure interviews. Digital technologies translates deployment helps to meet simultaneously different logistics need and following the conditions of lean, agile and other covered practices. The conducted research fills the gap between the discussion about digital technologies and the potential implications for the organization’s activities.

Opis:: In their works, new Japanese experimental cinema directors present a wonderful combination of filmmaking techniques: from found-footage animation, 3D stereoscopic film shot and double projection, to photochemical support in obtaining high contrast colours. Searching for the best ideas and tools to create unique perceptual experiences, the artists put emphasis on developing high-level technical skills, which helps them in their explorations of their films" subjects. Accordingly, new Japanese experimental cinema authors manifest an extremely creative approach to film production, combining avant-garde postulates with new technologies, while at the same time offering the viewer an interactive, aesthetic experience.The main point of the proposed paper is the analysis of the technologies used by Japanese experimental filmmakers and the techniques they develop under the influence of the chosen technologies. The paper examines selected examples of visual art created by Takashi Makino, Shinkan Tamaki, Kazuhiro Goshima, and Tomonari Nishikawa, as they are the most distinctive directors of the new generation of experimental film artists in Japan.

Opis:: The aim of the article is to recognize the popularity and dynamics of research on improving business processes and process organization in enterprises, institutions, and other organizations. Bibliometric research was conducted to identify research gaps and developing research areas. The research used the resources of the Web of Science Core Collection database. As a result of the research, it was found that the popularity and dynamics of research work in the field of process improvement are emerging. Research to date conducted in the field of measuring performance mainly refers to functionally oriented organizations. The often-postulated direction of a comprehensive approach to process improvement and process orientation of the organization is still not gaining significant interest among researchers, as indicated by the number of publications. The conducted analyses showed an increase in interest in process issues in management and business sciences with the dominant activity of researchers representing IT disciplines. The majority share of IT environments in research on process improvement indicates the dominant role of digital technologies in Business Process Management, which seems understandable in the era of Industry 4.0. The growing share of researchers in management sciences is a positive symptom. However, the share of research devoted to process organizations creating favorable conditions for the digital transformation of processes may still be insufficient or even inhibitory.
