Opis:
This paper deals with a multi-agent system which supports the designer in solving complex design tasks. The behaviour of design agents is modelled by sets of grammar rules. Each agent uses a graph grammar or a shape grammar and a database of facts concerning the subtask it is responsible for. The course of the design process is determined by the interaction between specialised agents. Space layouts of designs are represented by attributed graphs encoding both topological structures and semantic properties of solutions. The agents work in parallel on the common graph, independently generating layouts of different design components while specified node labels evoke agents using shape grammars. The agents’ cooperation allows them to combine a form-oriented approach with a functional-structural one in the design process, where the agents generate the general 3D form of the object based on design requirements together with the space layout based on the functional aspects of the solution. Based on the given design criteria, the agents search for admissible solutions within the design space that constitutes their operating environment. The proposed approach is illustrated by the example of designing kindergarten facilities.

Multi-agent system for recognition of hand postures

Opis:
A multi-agent system for a recognition of hand postures of the Polish Sign Language is presented in the paper. The system is based on a syntactic pattern recognition approach, namely on parsable ETPL(k) graph grammars. An occurrence of a variety of styles of performing hand postures requires an introduction of many grammar productions that differ each from other slightly. This makes a construction of a grammar within a parsable class ETPL(k) dubious. Dividing a whole grammar into sub-grammars and distributing them to agents allows one to solve the problem.

Opis:
The important aspect of performance of a multi-agent system deployed in highly non-homogeneous environment is ensuring data confidentiality. In such an environment each agent resides in its local ecosystem characterized by its own data structure and semantics. Moreover agents may also extend their knowledge by sending appropriate queries to other agents. Thus a knowledge diffuses through the system so it may cause unauthorized data accesses. In this article we propose the run-time method of discovering such data leaks and the method of preventing such events.

Opis:
An aesthetic oriented, multi-agent system is proposed for supporting generation of buildings prototypes that fulfill aesthetic criteria. Multi-hierarchical composite graphs are used to represent object’s structure, consisting of Biedermann’s basic perception elements - geons, grouped into aesthetic measurable components. The approach is illustrated on the example of designing a simple 3d architectural object according to the accepted rules of aesthetics.

A blackboard system for generating poetry
Autorzy:

Opis:
We present a system to generate poems based on the information extracted from input text such as blog posts. Our design uses the blackboard architecture, in which independent specialized modules cooperate during the generation process by sharing a common workspace known as the blackboard. Each module is responsible for a particular task while generating poetry. Our implementation incorporates modules that retrieve information from the input text, generate new ideas, or select the best partial solutions. These distinct modules (experts) are implemented as diverse computational units that make use of lexical resources, grammar models, sentiment-analyzing tools, and language processing algorithms. A control module is responsible for scheduling actions on the blackboard. We argue that the blackboard architecture is a promising way of simulating creative processes because of its flexibility and compliance with the Global Workspace Theory of mind. The main contribution of this work is the design and prototype implementation of an extensible platform for a poetry-generating system that may be further extended by incorporating new experts as well as some existing poetry generating systems as parts of the blackboard architecture. We claim that this design provides a powerful tool for combining many of the existing efforts in the domain of automatic poetry generation.
