This article focuses on analyzing the impact of RPA (Robotic Process Automa-tion) technology on the organizational culture of hospitals. The authors employ a deductive method based on a critical review of the literature, complemented by elements of analysis and synthesis of existing research findings. A significant portion of the article is dedicated to the case study of the Warmian-Masurian Pulmonary Diseases Center in Olsztyn, offering a comprehensive perspective on the practical implementation of RPA. The findings indicate that changes in organizational culture are an intrinsic part of process automation, and that proper understanding and management of this aspect can significantly enhance the effectiveness of innovation adoption in healthcare institutions.

Opis:: Process automation is most often associated with physical solutions used in an organization. In addition to hardware robots, a separate group of robots is called Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which can be used to automate repetitive business processes, replacing human work. RPA solutions are becoming possible to use in small enterprises due to their price and ease of use. The purpose of this paper is to analyze a project involving the application of RPA tools in an accounting office and to identify the determinants that affect the success of RPA implementation in optimized processes. For the purposes of this study, the capabilities of software robots were determined, and the robot was implemented in the accounting office as a tool automating the invoice accounting process. Based on the analysis of implementation works and the effects of robots' work, the possibilities and potential applications of solutions automating (assisting) business processes in small entities were determined.
Automatyzacja procesów jest najczęściej kojarzona z fizycznymi rozwiązaniami stosowanymi w organizacji. Jednakże obok robotów hardwarowych, osobną grupę stanowią roboty softwarowe, które mogą być wykorzystywane do automatyzacji powtarzalnych procesów biznesowych, zastępując pracę człowieka. Rozwiązania z zakresu zrobotyzowanej automatyzacji procesów RPA (Robotic Process Automation) stają się możliwe do stosowania w małych podmiotach, ze względu na ich cenę oraz łatwość użytkowania. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przeprowadzenie analizy projektu polegającego na zastosowaniu narzędzi RPA w biurze rachunkowym oraz zidentyfikowanie determinant, które mają wpływ na sukces wdrożenia RPA w optymalizowanych procesach. Na potrzeby niniejszego opracowania wykonano studium przypadku, określono możliwości robotów softwarowych oraz przeprowadzono wdrożenie robota w biurze rachunkowym jako narzędzia automatyzującego proces księgowania faktur. Przeprowadzono badanie w działaniu oraz na podstawie prac wdrożeniowych i efektów pracy robotów określono możliwości i potencjalne zastosowania rozwiązań automatyzujących (wspomagających) biznesowe procesy w małych podmiotach.

Opis:: Optymalizacja procesów z wykorzystaniem RPA – jako element zarządzania zmianą w organizacji Technologia Robotic Process Automation (RPA) jest coraz częściej wykorzystywana w małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach. Narzędzie to nabiera coraz większego znaczenia w odciążaniu pracowników od czasochłonnych i żmudnych zadań. Celem badań było zidentyfikowanie aktualnych problemów napotykanych przez przedsiębiorstwa przy wdrażaniu rozwiązań RPA, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem aspektu zmiany postrzeganej przez pracownika i kadrę zarządzającą. W ramach pracy empirycznej przeprowadzono badania monograficzne z wykorzystaniem procedury studium przypadku w 10 wybranych małych i średnich przedsiębiorstwach działających w Polsce. Podczas wywiadów eksperckich za największą przeszkodę we wprowadzaniu RPA uznano opór pracowników wobec zmian. Brak wiedzy pracowników na temat tej technologii i jej narzędzi oraz brak odpowiedniego zarządzania zmianą w organizacji to główne czynniki utrudniające wdrożenie RPA. Kluczowymi czynnikami sukcesu podczas procesu wdrażania robotów softwarowych są: budowanie świadomości wśród pracowników, wsparcie liderów, monitorowanie postępów wdrożenia
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology is being used more and more often in small and medium enterprises. This tool is becoming increasingly important in relieving workers from time consuming and boring tasks. The aim of the research was to identify current problems encountered by enterprises when implementing RPA solutions, with particular attention paid to the aspect of change perceived by the employees and the management. As part of the empirical work, monographic research was conducted using the case study procedure in 10 selected small and medium-sized companies operating in Poland. During expert interviews, workers’ resistance against changes was noticed as the greatest obstacle in introducing RPA. Workers’ lack of knowledge about this technology and its tools and the lack of proper change management in organizations are the main factors which impede implementation of RPA. The core actions to success in implementation of software robots are: building awareness among workers, support of leaders, and monitoring of implementation progress..

Opis:: The paper introduces Robotic Process Automation (RPA), which is an emerging and cutting-edge conception of business processes automation, based on the notion of software robots or artificial intelligence workers. The paper is conceptual as it discusses the fundamentals behind this idea, synthesises the knowledge of technology, and presents it in a new context. It is based on the author’s considerations and the literature review, which contributes to the insight into the basic understanding of RPA technology as well as systematises and clarifies RPA definitions, identifies market trends, formulates a set of predictions for further development of this technology, and highlights directions for future inquiry. Additionally, logical arguments are proposed for considering RPA as a technology that enables and advances digital transformation. Moreover, criteria are indicated for business processes suitable for RPA. Nowadays, the robotisation of business processes as innovative technology is more often practically implemented than it is investigated by research. Published papers outline real examples of implemented cases of RPA technology in organisations that mainly represent service industries. These case studies allow identifying possible advantages and risks derived from RPA implementation. Recent studies also report benefits of the RPA application in terms of productivity, costs, service quality, and error reduction. Some authors propose the criteria for selecting processes suitable for automation and robotisation. This paper constitutes a foundation for new research aimed at filling knowledge gaps in this area. Responding to the call by van der Aalst, academic discourse on RPA must be initiated.
