Opis:: Teaching peripheral languages is not significantly different than teaching languages spoken by larger human communities, however, some fundamental aspects play an important role in the process of effective language acquisition. In the case of small languages struggling with a gradual decline in users, i.e. struggling for survival, the key seems to be fostering the motivation to start and continue learning. Language cannot, and should not, be learned only as means of communication, but taking into account its cultural identity, distinctive character in the context of languages and cultures in contact, and the legitimacy of any effort to protect the language and culture. The latter efforts also include dissemination of information and knowledge beyond the given territorial area. The author of the article bases on more than twenty years of experience in teaching Galician within the academia to present interesting applications of poetry and song in the teaching of this language, which offer an effective response to the abovementioned challenges related to the acquisition of Galician.

Opis:: Nauczanie języków peryferyjnych nie różni się znacząco od nauczania języków, którymi posługują się większe społeczności ludzkie, jednakże w procesie skutecznego przyswajania języka istotne są pewne fundamentalne aspekty. W przypadku małych języków borykających się ze stopniowym spadkiem liczby użytkowników, czyli walczących o przetrwanie, kluczowe wydaje się wspieranie motywacji do rozpoczęcia i kontynuowania nauki. Języka nie można nauczyć się i nie należy uczyć wyłącznie jako środka komunikacji, lecz biorąc pod uwagę jego tożsamość kulturową, charakter dystynktywny wobec języków i kultur pozostających w kontakcie, a także zasadność tego procesu w kontekście wysiłków na rzecz ochrony języków i kultur. Te ostatnie działania obejmują także upowszechnianie informacji i wiedzy poza określonym obszarem terytorialnym. Autorka artykułu, bazując na ponad dwudziestoletnim doświadczeniu w nauczaniu języka galicyjskiego w środowisku akademickim, przedstawia ciekawe zastosowania poezji i piosenek w nauczaniu tego języka, które stanowią skuteczną odpowiedź na wyżej wymienione wyzwania związane z nauczaniem języka galicyjskiego.
O ensino de linguas periféricas non é significativamente diferente do ensino de linguas faladas por comunidades humanas máis grandes, porén, algúns aspectos fundamentais xogan un papel importante no proceso de adquisición efectiva da lingua. No caso das linguas minorizadas que loitan cun descenso paulatino dos usuarios, é dicir, que loitan pola supervivencia, a clave parece ser fomentar a motivación para comezar e continuar aprendendo. A lingua non pode, nin debe, aprenderse só como medio de comunicación, pero tendo en conta a súa identidade cultural, o carácter distintivo no contexto das linguas e culturas en contacto e a lexitimidade de calquera esforzo por protexer a lingua e a cultura. Estas últimas actividades inclúen tamén a difusión da información e do coñecemento máis aló do ámbito territorial determinado. O autor do artigo baséase en máis de vinte anos de experiencia no ensino do galego no ámbito académico para presentar interesantes aplicacións da poesía e da canción no ensino desta lingua, que ofrezan unha resposta eficaz aos retos antes mencionados relacionados coa adquisición de galego.
