Opis:: W artykule omówiono wynikające z przepisów wymagania dla rozdzielnic elektroenergetyczych średniego napięcia budowy przeciwwybuchowej. Przedstawiono przesłanki do podjęcia prac konstrukcyjnych nad nowym polem rozdzielczym budowy przeciwwybuchowej. Zaprezentowano konstrukcję nowego pola rozdzielczego. Omówiono zakres badań obwodów elektrycznych niskiego napięcia i średniego napięcia oraz osłony ognioszczelnej pola rozdzielczego budowy przeciwwybuchowej.
The article discusses regulations-based requirements for medium-voltage, explosion-proof switchgears. The authors presented the reasons for launching the development of a new explosion-proof switchgear. The structure of the new switchgear was presented, along with the testing range of low- and medium-voltage electric circuits and a fire-proof casing of the explosion-proof switchgear.

Opis:: The article presents the application of Acoustic Emission (AE) method for detection and registration of partial discharges (PD) generated in medium voltage (MV) cable isolation and MV cable head. The insulation of the high voltage cable is made of a flexible material whose properties are characterised by a high coefficient of attenuation of the acoustic signals. For this reason, the AE method has not been used so far to detect PD in energetic cables. The subjects of the research were the MV cable and the standard T-type cable head. The cable contained defects which were the source of partial discharges. In case of cable head the PD were provoked by thin grounded electrode which was introduced into connector opening. The results of AE measurements are presented in the form of spectrograms. Acoustic Emission was evoked when the applied voltage level reached the value of 7.5 kV for the cable and 4 kV for the cable head. The authors used the acoustic instrumentation of their own design intended for future field use. Obtaining successful results of partial discharges measurements using the acoustic method in the cable insulation makes an original contribution of the presented work.

Opis:: The paper presents the results of a thermal test (conducted with thermographic camera, coupled with an electrical test) of medium voltage metal–oxide surge arresters. Surge arresters (for U_c=18 kV) were tested for the leakage current and surface temperature: for 5 minutes under state 50 Hz alternating voltage 18 kV. The surface temperature of the MOAs correlates with an increase in leakage current. The result shows that the 0.6 mA AC leakage current in the medium voltage metal–oxide surge arrester (18 kV) is above the stable operating point, and the loss of electrical power is higher than the effective heat dissipation in the arrester. After 5 minutes of high voltage impact U = 18 kV, the surface temperature of the surge arrester was (4.32±0.55) K higher than the initial temperature. The IR camera can be used to detect the faults of ZnO metal–oxide surge arresters that lead to an increase in surface temperature.

The purpose of this work is to analyze the indicator of the duration of interruptions in the supply of electricity SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) given by power distribution operators (DSOs). The topic is so important for the Polish economy that it can be treated as a social problem that can not only reduce the quality of life, but also the economic development of small towns and villages where power outages are much longer than in cities. However, at the same time investment activities aimed at improving the quality of electricity distribution in Poland represent a very high chance for the development of new innovative technologies. The article presents not only related aspects with medium voltage network automation, but also due to their technical and economic capabilities, modern devices. The key in the article is the effective solution to the problem of reliability in Poland and the presentation of selected directions of investment.

Opis:: Understanding the impact of power harmonic on energy transmission play an important role not only in the operation process but also in the designing procedure of MV grid. In 6kV mining grids of Vietnamese coal mines, because of rapidly utilizing the power electronic machines, the power quality violation occurs very frequently. This lead to many disadvantages such as: the increase of power losses, voltage distortion, over-heating in transformers and conductors. Moreover, the presence of power harmonic bring the bad impact of skin effect and proximity on conductor including overhead-conductors and cables. The actual operation exhibits that the losses of transmission lines are approximately over 50% of total network losses. If there are power quality violation, this amount could be higher. Basing on investigating the fact of power harmonic violations in 6kV grid of both underground and surface mines, the paper will analyze this kind of impact. An algorithm relying on Matlab programming is used to calculate the energy losses. Results are compared with on-site measurement datas and lab-measurement to obtain series of correction factors corresponding to individual line’s cross section. The outcomes of research could be applicable for power utilities to have better analysis in the designing stage of mining MV grids.

The paper presents a digital protection and measurement system for medium voltage distribution stations developed in the Relpol S.A. company, division Polon in Zielona Góra. The system comprises of several hardware components and modules of specialized software. Their role and functionality are briefly explained in the paper. Thanks to the modular construction, it is possible to fast adapt the equipment to dynamically changing expectations and needs. The system uses the real-time operating system Windows CE, and specialized software which provides protection and metering functions. The status of the system and setup is presented by a graphic user interface using a colour LCD screen with touch control support - Fig 1. Protection functions require fast measurement of many primary quantities like phase currents and voltages as well as zero components of voltages and currents. The primary quantities are used to calculate many derivative values used then by digital protection functions. The system protection functions should react within the time of 60 ms after detecting a dangerous situation like a phase short circuit or a ground short circuit.
