Tytuł:: Crossing the frontiers : peer coaching and self - managing in the process of the professional development in multicultural environment

Opis:: Our effort focuses on the development of a process of cross-cultural peer coaching through which we have sought to grow as reflective practitioners and strengthen authentic conversations between two individuals, from Poland and the United States. By building a theoretical framework around peer coaching, intercultural interaction, and auto-ethnography we have worked to make explicit our development as educators working to enrich the process of the organizational learning and to make education more open, democratic and human. As Kottler [1997] claims, it is possible to find stages that a tourist goes through during the process of recognizing and knowing another culture that was used to mirror the sensation of the professional growth. The findings shed light on how peer coaching might be strengthened, as well as the development of an observation protocol to structure such reflective and, ultimately, life changing work.

Opis:: The paper presents research on the relationship between different components and aspects of executive functions and the tutor’s behaviors and strategies used during peer tutoring. The research involved 23 pairs of six-year-old children. The tutors’ task was to teach their peers the rules of a board game. There was a signifi cant correlation between the level of the executive functions and the tutor’s behaviors and strategies which supported the student during the tutoring. Significant components of the executive functions included shifting attention, inhibition, working memory and the cool aspect of the executive functions. The tutors applying various strategies (Outside the role, Initiator, Partner, Coordinator) differed significantly in their levels of the executive functions, and especially in the planning component.

Opis:: Wprowadzenie. Relacje z rówieśnikami odgrywają znaczącą rolę w rozwoju dzieci i młodzieży, czego świadectwem mogą być negatywne skutki ich nieprawidłowości. Ważnym miejscem kształtowania się tych relacji jest klasa szkolna. Cel. Głównym celem tego artykułu jest opisanie działań wychowawcy klasy szkolnej, skierowanych na wspomaganie procesu kształtowania się prawidłowych relacji uczniów z ich rówieśnikami. Materiały i metody. W przygotowaniu tekstu tego artykułu posłużono się analizą literatury przedmiotu. Wyniki. Przedstawione w literaturze przedmiotu wyniki badań wskazują na to, że dla relacji uczniów z ich rówieśnikami ważne są czynniki motywujące do podjęcia interakcji z rówieśnikiem oraz czynniki ułatwiające jej utrzymanie. Wiedza na temat tych czynników i wzajemnych zależności między nimi posłużyła wskazaniu kierunków i zarazem celów omawianych działań wychowawcy oraz sposobów ich osiągania. Wnioski. Istnieje konieczność systemowego ujmowania procesu kształtowania się relacji rówieśniczych i zarazem systemowych działań wychowawcy, skierowanych na wspomaganie tego procesu.
Introduction. Peer relationships play a significant role in the development of children and adolescents, as evidenced by the negative effects of their irregularities. The school class is an important setting for shaping these relationships. Aim. The main purpose of this article is to describe the activities of class teacher aimed at supporting the process of shaping proper relationships between their students. Materials and methods. This article is based on a subject literature review. Results. Research results presented in the relevant literature indicate that factors motivating school students to start interacting with their peers, and factors facilitating the maintaining of an interaction, are important for peer relationships. Knowledge about these factors and their interdependencies was used in the article to indicate the directions and the goals of activity for a teacher and the ways of achieving them. Conclusions. There is a need for a systemic approach to the process of shaping peer relationships and, at the same time, systemic activities of a teacher aimed at supporting this process.

Opis:: W ostatnim czasie obserwujemy wzrost liczby dzieci, u których diagnozuje się zespół Aspergera (zaburzenie ze spektrum autyzmu), stąd tak ważne jest poszerzanie wiedzy na temat tego zaburzenia oraz umiejętność pracy z uczniami z zespołem Aspergera. Dzieci rosną, dojrzewają i ze szkół podstawowych przechodzą do szkół ponadpodstawowych, natomiast nauczyciele, wychowawcy, pedagodzy i psycholodzy szkolni w szkołach średnich nie są jeszcze przygotowani do pracy z takimi uczniami. Jeśli w dzieciństwie dziecko miało niewielkie wsparcie terapeutyczne, może trudniej znosić nowe czynniki sytuacyjne, jakimi są nowa szkoła i otoczenie. Zespół Aspergera charakteryzuje się zaburzeniami jakościowymi w obszarze interakcji społecznych. Wzorce zachowania są ograniczone i stereotypowe, podobnie jak zachowania i aktywność. Rozwój intelektualny jest w granicach normy, a często powyżej przeciętnej, rozwój mowy ekspresyjnej i jej rozumienie jest również prawidłowe. Zaburzenia rozwoju społecznego mogą charakteryzować się pięcioma objawami: trudnościami w inicjowaniu i podejmowaniu udanych interakcji rówieśniczych, problematycznymi zachowaniami związanymi z agresją wobec innych i/ lub siebie, zaburzeniami lękowymi o charakterze fobii społecznej, niekontrolowanymi, specyficznymi zachowaniami i współruchami oraz dość specyficznym wyglądem zewnętrznym.
Recently, we have observed an increase in the number of children diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome (autism spectrum disorder), hence the importance of increasing knowledge about the disorder and the ability to work with students with Asperger’s syndrome. Children grow up, mature and move from primary schools to secondary schools, while teachers, educators, educators and school psychologists in secondary schools are not yet prepared to work with such students. If a child had little therapeutic support in childhood, it may be more difficult to cope with new situational factors such as the new school and environment. Asperger’s syndrome is characterized by qualitative disturbances in the area of social interactions. Behavior patterns are limited and stereotyped, as are behavior and activity. Intellectual development is within the normal range, and often above average, the development of expressive speech and its understanding is also normal. Social development disorders can be characterized by five symptoms: difficulties in initiating and undertaking successful peer interactions, problematic behaviors related to aggression towards others and / or oneself, social anxiety disorders, uncontrolled specific behaviors and companions, and quite specific external appearance.
