Opis:
The paper presents the practical implementation of active seat suspension used in vehicles and machinery. The test object is a passive suspension system, in which the vibro-insulating properties have been improved by using an active system controlled by a pneumatic bellows cylinder. Bellows cylinders in pneumatic drives act as single-acting cylinders - push cylinders. The filled bellows cylinder under constant pressure acts as an air spring. The volume of the air cushion changes under the pressure inside. Proportional pressure valve was used to control the bellows cylinder and noncontact relative displacement laser triangulation sensor was used to measure displacement of the seat. A Proportional-Derivative-Fuzzy Logic Controller (PD-FLC) was used for the control. The use of Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) enables the transition from a quantitative description to a qualitative process. The system structure with a designated output control function has been presented. Test results on the seat suspension vibro-insulating properties of a working machine are presented.

Opis:
The paper presents the design and implementation of a digital rule-relational fuzzy logic controller. Classical and decomposed logical structures of fuzzy systems are discussed. The second allows a decrease in the hardware cost of the fuzzy system and in the computing time of the final result (fuzzy or crisp), especially when referring to relational systems. The physical architecture consists of IP modules implemented in an FPGA structure. The modules can be inserted into or removed from the project to get a desirable fuzzy logic controller configuration. The fuzzy inference system implemented in FPGA can operate with a much higher performance than software implementations on standard microcontrollers.

Opis:
DC/DC converters are wealthy of nonlinear phenomena that appear when the converter parameters are subject to perturbation or variation. The converter may exhibit bifurcation from behavior to another, quasi periodic and chaotic responses. In such cases, it is difficult and even impossible to analyze, to predict and to control the converter behavior. This paper gives a description of a DC/DC converter and shows their desirable and undesirable behaviors; then a solution, based on type-2 fuzzy logic controller, is proposed to eliminate the undesirable behaviors and to enhance the converter dynamics.

Opis:
Solar energy is widely available in nature and electricity can be easily extracted using solar PV cells. A fuel cell being reliable and environment friendly becomes a good choice for the backup so as to compensate for continuously varying solar irradiation. This paper presents simple control schemes for power management of the DC microgrid consisting of PV modules and fuel cell as energy sources and a hydrogen electrolyzer system for storing the excess power generated. The supercapacitor bank is used as a short term energy storage device for providing the energy buffer whenever sudden fluctuations occur in the input power and the load demand. A new power control strategy is developed for a hydrogen storage system. The performance of the system is assessed with and without the supercapacitor bank and the results are compared. A comparative study of the voltage regulation of the microgrid is presented with the controller of the supercapacitor bank, realized using a traditional PI controller and an intelligent fuzzy logic controller.

Opis:
A solar photovoltaic (PV) system has been emerging out as one of the greatest potential renewable energy sources and is contributing significantly in the energy sector. The PV system depends upon the solar irradiation and any changes in the incoming solar irradiation will affect badly on the output of the PV system. The solar irradiation is location specific and also the atmospheric conditions in the surroundings of the PV system contribute significantly to its performance. This paper presents the cumulative assessment of the four MPPT techniques during the partial shading conditions (PSCs) for different configurations of the PV array. The partial shading configurations like series-parallel, bridge link, total cross tied and honeycomb structure for an 84 PV array has been simulated to compare the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques. The MPPT techniques like perturb and observe, incremental conductance, extremum seeking control and a fuzzy logic controller were implemented for different shading patterns. The results related to the maximum power tracked, tracking efficiency of each of the MPPT techniques were presented in order to assess the best MPPT technique and the best configuration of the PV array for yielding the maximum power during the PSCs.

Opis:
A new type Fuzzy Inference System is proposed, a Probabilistic Fuzzy Inference system which model and minimizes the effects of statistical uncertainties. The blend of two different concepts, degree of truth and probability of truth in a unique framework leads to this new concept. This combination is carried out both in Fuzzy sets and Fuzzy rules, which gives rise to Probabilistic Fuzzy Sets and Probabilistic Fuzzy Rules. Introducing these probabilistic elements, a distinctive probabilistic fuzzy inference system is developed and this involves fuzzification, inference and output processing. This integrated approach accounts for all of the uncertainty like rule uncertainties and measurement uncertainties present in the systems and has led to the design which performs optimally after training. In this paper a Probabilistic Fuzzy Inference System is applied for modeling and control of a highly nonlinear, unstable system and also proved its effectiveness.

Opis:
This paper presents the modeling, control and simulation of an electric vehicle with four in-wheel 15 kw induction motors drive 4WDEV controlled by a direct torque control DTC strategy, where two control techniques are presented and compared for controlling the electric vehicle speed: the first one is based on a classical PI controller while the second one is based on a fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The aim is to evaluate the impact of the proposed FLC controller on the efficiency of the 4WDEV taking into account vehicle dynamics performances, autonomy and battery power consumption. When the classical controller can’t ensure the electric vehicle stability in several road topology situations. To show the efficiency of the proposed new control technique on the traction system by 4WDEV. The vehicle has been tested in different road constraints: straight road, sloping road and curved road to the right and left using the Matlab / Simulink environment. The analysis and comparison of the simulation results of FLC and PI controllers clearly show that the FLC ensures better performances and gives a good response without overshoot, zero steady state error and high load robustness rejection, compared to the PI controller which is present an overshoot equal 7.3980% and a rise time quite important (0.2157 s with PI controller and 0.1153 s with FLC). As well as the vehicle range has been increased by about 10.82 m throughout the driving cycle and that the energy consumption of the battery has been reduced by about 1.17% with FLC.

Opis:
This paper presents the second part of the research activity performed by Cranfield University to assess the potential of low-cost navigation sensors for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This part focuses on carrier-phase Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for attitude determination and control of small to medium size UAVs. Recursive optimal estimation algorithms were developed for combining multiple attitude measurements obtained from different observation points (i.e., antenna locations), and their efficiencies were tested in various dynamic conditions. The proposed algorithms converged rapidly and produced the required output even during high dynamics manoeuvres. Results of theoretical performance analysis and simulation activities are presented in this paper, with emphasis on the advantages of the GNSS interferometric approach in UAV applications (i.e., low cost, high data-rate, low volume/weight, low signal processing requirements, etc.). The simulation activities focussed on the AEROSONDE UAV platform and considered the possible augmentation provided by interferometric GNSS techniques to a low-cost and low-weight/volume integrated navigation system (presented in the first part of this series) which employed a Vision-Based Navigation (VBN) system, a Micro-Electro-Mechanical Sensor (MEMS) based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and code-range GNSS (i.e., GPS and GALILEO) for position and velocity com-putations. The integrated VBN-IMU-GNSS (VIG) system was augmented using the intefero-metric GNSS Attitude Determination (GAD) sensor data and a comparison of the performance achieved with the VIG and VIG/GAD integrated Navigation and Guidance Systems (NGS) is presented in this paper. Finally, the data provided by these NGS are used to optimise the design of a hybrid controller employing Fuzzy Logic and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) techniques for the AEROSONDE UAV.
Ponadto podjęto próbę zastosowania danych dostarczonych przez opisany system NGS do zoptymalizowania mieszanego kontrolera wykorzystującego logikę rozmytą i klasyczny regulator PID do sterowania bezzałogowcem AEROSONDE.
