Opis:
Combustion synthesis is capable of producing many types of refractory and ceramic materials, as well as metals, with a relatively lower cost and shorter time frame than other solid state synthetic techniques. TiO2 with Mg as reductant were dry mixed and hand compacted into a 60 mm diameter mold and then combusted under an Ar atmosphere. Depending on the reaction parameters (Mg concentration 2 ≤ α ≤ 4), the thermocouples registered temperatures between 1160°C and 1710°C . 3 mol of Mg gave the optimum results with combustion temperature (Tc) and combustion velocity (Uc) values of 1372°C and 0.26 cm/s respectively. Furthermore, this ratio also had the lowest oxygen concentration in this study (0.8 wt%). After combustion, DC plasma treatment was carried out to spheroidize the Ti powder for use in 3D printing. The characterization of the final product was performed using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and N/O analysis.

Opis:
In the paper are presented comparative tests of combustion of gasoline and combustion of methanol in spark ignition engine of the Fiat 1100 MPI type. The engine was equipped with a prototype suction manifold with duplex injectors on each cylinder. Implemented system enabled dual fuel operation of the engine with any fraction of the alcohol. Engine performance and start-up capabilities were the same like in case of the operation on gasoline only. Type and parameters of the fuel supply can be changed in any time during operation of the engine. The study dealt with comparison of a selected parameters used to assessment of combustion of the fuels: pressure of the working medium p, rate of pressure rise dp/d, heat release rate dQ/d, temperature of the working medium, and combustion angle. The investigations pointed at considerable differences in run of combustion of the gasoline and combustion of the methanol, as autonomous fuels. Moreover, addition of methanol to gasoline results in considerable differences in combustion process, comparing to combustion of gasoline mixtures. The combustion goes on more dynamically, especially during initial phase of the process, while total time of the combustion is shorter. Effects of these changes are: higher maximal pressures, faster rates of pressure growth and heat release. Extent of change of combustion parameters depends on methanol fraction in total dose of the fuel supplied to the engine. Addition of the methanol effects in growth of general efficiency of the engine, which increases together with growth of methanol fraction and engine load. Absolute growth of the efficiency amounted to 2-5%, while relative growth amounted to 6-16%. Such significant growth of the efficiency should lead to reduction of energy consumption during engine operation.

Opis:
In the paper base reactivity parameters of acetylene are considered. The terms of safe usage of acetylene are interpreted and related to their molecular structure. Unusual susceptibility of acetylene to exothermic self-decomposition is analysed. Chemical composition and parameters of acetylene decomposition at various initial states are estimated in thermodynamic calculations. Combustion and explosion of acetylene/air and acetylene/oxygen mixtures are estimated in full range of acetylene concentration.

Opis:
Worsening of economic and environmental parameters of a dual fuel engine at partial engine loads results from protracted combustion of leaned gas-air mixture. This leads to reduction of overall efficiency and growth of CO and THC emissions. Such problems are difficult to solve in traction engines due to their frequent operation at partial loads and rapid changes of engine load and rotational speed. Negative effects of leaning of gaseous mixture can be partially diminished through division of initial dose and activation of combustion of gaseous mixture through delayed injection of additional portion of liquid fuel. In the paper are presented test results of experimental SB3.1 engine run on CNG with divided dose of the Diesel oil. There were analyzed overall efficiency and selected parameters of combustion process. Division of the dose influenced advantageously on parameters of the engine. The overall efficiency increased, while maximal pressure pmax, heat release rate (dQ/dα)max, and pressure growth rate (dp/dα)max decreased. The engine with divided dose operated more smoothly with less noise.
Pogorszenie parametrów ekonomiczno-ekologicznych silnika dwupaliwowego przy częściowych obciążeniach wynika z przewlekłego spalania zubożonej mieszaniny gaz-powietrze . Prowadzi to do zmniejszenia sprawności ogólnej silnika i wzrostu emisji CO i THC. Problemy te są trudne do rozwiązania w silnikach trakcyjnych z uwagi na częstą pracę przy częściowych obciążeniach oraz szybkie zmiany w czasie obciążenia i prędkości obrotowej. Negatywne skutki zubożenia mieszaniny gazowej można częściowo zmniejszyć przez podział dawki inicjującej i aktywizację spalania mieszaniny gazowej poprzez opóźniony wtrysk dodatkowej porcji paliwa ciekłego. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań silnika badawczego SB3.1 zasilanego CNG i dzieloną dawką oleju napędowego. Analizie poddano sprawność ogólną i wybrane parametry spalania. Podział dawki korzystnie wpłynął na parametry silnika. Sprawność silnika wzrosła, natomiast zmniejszeniu uległy ciśnienie maksymalne pmax, szybkość wydzielania ciepła (dQ/dα)max, szybkość przyrostu ciśnienia (dp/dα)max. Silnik z dzieloną dawką pracował bardziej równomiernie i wykazywał mniejszą hałaśliwość.

Opis:
The article presents selected methods of assessing the basic parameters of the combustion process, as well as assessing the usability and limitations of the methods used to determine the initiation and the end of the combustion process in reciprocating internal combustion engines. The methods considered are based on data contained in real, developed indicator diagrams. Basic thermodynamic assumptions and the scope of application of the combustion process evaluation method based on the actual work cycle of a combustion engine prepared in a double logarithmic scale were discussed. The article also mentions the application of the following methods: a direct pressure comparison method in the cylinder, the comparison of the first pressure derivative in the cylinder, logarithmic derivative meth-od of pressure change in the cylinder, the method of the polytropic index, method of the first derivative of the polytropic index and the method of constant values of the polytropic index. The article presents the advantages and disadvantages of the research of our methods.

Opis:
The work is focused on an experimental test of temperature development in a scale model. Various types of combustible materials were used in the test in combination with the spruce wood. The work points to the influence of the fuel source on selected parameters of a fire in an enclosed space. The course of a fire is influenced by various factors. The course of a fire in an enclosed space differs from the course of a fire in an open space. As a part of the overall development of the fire, the temperature of the fire is affected. Therefore, one can state that the parameters affecting the development of an internal fire also have a direct effect on the temperature development. The main goal of this work is to compare different types of materials in terms of the properties they manifest during a fire. The practical part contains the analysis of the materials used in the experiment. Description of the scale model and of the measuring control panel are the content of another part of the work. In the end there is a comparison of the individual temperature curves.

Results presented in the article regard the research on a turbocharged dual-fuel CI engine operating on propane. The research indicated that such engine might operate even if 70% of the standard fuel energy is replaced by propane. The research indicated that at such high share of the gaseous fuel, there is necessary to adjust diesel fuel injection parameters but it is important that there is no need to change the engine structure. Injection parameters may be adjusted in a wide range due to the modern fuelling system of the common rail type. The investigated engine was equipped with such system. Adjustments regarding the fuel charge division, fuel charge quantities, and injection timing enabled to influence combustion in such way to obtain its specific parameters, i.e. maximum combustion pressure, rate of pressure rise, maximum pressure, and the burn out ratio similar to those obtained for diesel fuel operation. The obtained results were presented in form of adjustment characteristics of the injection timing of diesel fuel pilot dose for a few chosen values of the boost pressure as well as injection timing of the main dose. The investigations were carried out for three values of the boost pressure, i.e. 200; 400 and 600 [mbar] but also for the naturally aspirated version. Injection timing of the first dose varied in a broad range and depended on the boost pressure. Injection timing of the second dose varied in a narrower range, mainly due to considerable changes in the combustion process. The obtained results answered a number of questions regarding the strategy of selection of diesel fuel injection parameters taking into consideration engine performances as well as combustion at a high share of the gaseous fuel.

Opis:
The Wankel engine is one of only few alternatives to the reciprocating engines. The advantages such as good value of maximum engine power to its mass ratio are still present and can have great sense in selected fields of application, for example General Aviation. Nevertheless the disadvantages of the Wankel engine design have never lost its importance and still pose an obstacle to wider use of the Wankel engine. One of the main drawbacks is the rotor sealing system design, especially the apex seal where single siat has to fulfil a purpose of conventional engine piston rings pack. Moreover the unfavourable changes of the apex seal angle of attack causes that optimal shape of the apex seal sliding surface, in aspects of the oil film parameters, can not be achieved. These results in worsening of apex seal elements mating conditions, reducing its effectiveness and durability. In the paper authors present results of simulation researches where oil film parameters, for example oil film thickness, which determines apex seal durability, were obtained for different engine operating conditions and various shapes of apex seal sliding surface geometry. The results indicate possible directions during apex seal designing process which should provide oil film continuity in whole rotor angle position range and for wide engine operation conditions range.

Due to limited resources and hazardous effects on environment people now a day tries to find out an alternative for fossil fuels. Fossil fuels when burnt produce a lot of carbon dioxide which is one of the primary reasons for global warming. Petroleum is a form of fossil fuel. With the help of distillation process petrol, paraffin, kerosene and diesel oil can obtain from natural petroleum. To protect the environment biodiesels can substitute these fossil fuels. Biodiesels can use as an alternative for diesel. Researchers from around the world tried for many years to find a suitable biodiesel which can substitute diesel. Many biodiesels have been produced from different sources and tested for their performances. Some researchers try to find out a good combination of biodiesel blends which can be used as an alternative of diesel. Some of them try to find out a suitable blend of diesel and biodiesel to reduce the environmental impact and for better emission characteristics. Effects of blending different types of biodiesels with diesel have been investigated by many researchers. In this present review article a summary is written on such attempts.

The paper has been intended to shortly describe the design of an adaptive jet engine, commonly termed 'the bypass engine'. Examples have been presented of how the bleeding of air affects the most essential engine performance characteristics, i.e. thrust, specific fuel consumption, and efficiency. Pointed out are economic advantages (only slight) of the application of this design as compared to the one-pass turbojet engine with no bleed. Furthermore, considered are capabilities to adapt an engine design of the bypass type for a one-pass turbojet engine K-15 as one of several upgrade opportunities. Simulation-based computations have proved, however, that there are some limitations on the bleed air amount and initial engine operational range for the accomplishment of the idea from the standpoint of capabilities to maintain conditions for the compressor-turbine matching. Also, the effect of this type of air bleeding upon the engine running-up process and the change in the running-up time for this type of the upgraded engine has been shown. In the Recapitulation and Conclusions section a mention has been made on the amount of bleed air to be passed through external channels from behind the compressor to behind the turbine: the bleed air amount increases as the total rate of the air flow along the engine flow path increases. It means that better effects of applying this type of air bleeding processes are gained in large engines. Presented are also capabilities of further developments and applications.
