Opis:
Acquiring labels in anomaly detection tasks is expensive and challenging. Therefore, as an effective way to improve efficiency, pretraining is widely used in anomaly detection models, which enriches the model's representation capabilities, thereby enhancing both performance and efficiency in anomaly detection. In most pretraining methods, the decoder is typically randomly initialized. Drawing inspiration from the diffusion model, this paper proposed to use denoising as a task to pretrain the decoder in anomaly detection, which is trained to reconstruct the original noise-free input. Denoising requires the model to learn the structure, patterns, and related features of the data, particularly when training samples are limited. This paper explored two approaches on anomaly detection: simultaneous denoising pretraining for encoder and decoder, denoising pretraining for only decoder. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method on improving model’s performance. Particularly, when the number of samples is limited, the improvement is more pronounced.

Opis:
Research background: Exchange traded funds (ETFs) are one of the most influential financial innovations, reshaping the investment funds market in many countries, including Mexico. Due to their similar investment objectives, ETFs are considered substitutes for mutual funds. Purpose of the article: The aim of the article is to provide an indepth insight into the issues associated with the development of financial markets in Mexico over the period 2002-2012, putting special emphasis on the development patterns of ETFs. Methods: First we use descriptive statistics to unveil basic changes and trends in the Mexican investment funds (ETFs and mutual funds). Then we use a category of the innovation diffusion models, i.e. logistic growth models, in order to explore the key development patterns. Data sources and methodological framework are presented in the second section of the article, with a detailed description of the innovation diffusion models applied in the research (based on 3-parametric logistic curve). The sum of assets under management of ETFs and mutual funds is considered as the size of the total investment funds market. Findings & Value added: Empirical findings indicate a significant development of the ETF market, both in terms of assets under management and market share. According to the presented estimations, Mexican ETF market development can be described with the logistic growth models, and three characteristic phases of the logistic curve were clearly observable. The predicted ETF market development patterns point towards a further increase of the market share of ETFs over the next 3-5 years, yet the probability of exceeding the level of ca. 20-30% seems low.

Mathematical models for option pricing often result in partial differential equations originally starting with the Black-Scholes model. In this context, recent enhancements are models driven by Levy processes, which lead to a partial differential equation with an additional integral term. If one solves the problems mentioned last numerically, this yields large linear systems of equations with dense matrices. However, by using the special structure and an iterative solver the problem can be handled efficiently. To further reduce the computational cost in the calibration phase we implement a reduced order model, like proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), which proves to be very efficient. In this paper we use a special multi-level trust region POD algorithm to calibrate the option pricing model and give numerical results supporting the gain in efficiency.

Opis:
Recently, the world has been gaining vastly increasing access to more and more advanced artificial intelligence tools. This phenomenon does not bypass the world of sound and visual art, and both of these worlds can benefit in ways yet unexplored, drawing them closer to one another. Recent breakthroughs open possibilities to utilize AI driven tools for creating generative art and using it as a compound of other multimedia. The aim of this paper is to present an original concept of using AI to create a visual compound material to existing audio source. This is a way of broadening accessibility thus appealing to different human senses using source media, expanding its initial form. This research utilizes a novel method of enhancing fundamental material consisting of text audio or text source (script) and sound layer (audio play) by adding an extra layer of multimedia experience - a visual one, generated procedurally. A set of images generated by AI tools, creating a story-telling animation as a new way to immerse into the experience of sound perception and focus on the initial audial material. The main idea of the paper consists of creating a pipeline, form of a blueprint for the process of procedural image generation based on the source context (audial or textual) transformed into text prompts and providing tools to automate it by programming a set of code instructions. This process allows creation of coherent and cohesive (to a certain extent) visual cues accompanying audial experience levering it to multimodal piece of art. Using nowadays technologies, creators can enhance audial forms procedurally, providing them with visual context. The paper refers to current possibilities, use cases, limitations and biases giving presented tools and solutions.

Opis:
Thermal processes occuring in the solid bodies are, as a rule, described by the well-known Fourier equation (or the system of these equations) supplemented by the appropriate boundary and initial conditions. Such a mathematical model is sufficiently exact to describe the heat transfer processes in the macro scale for the typical materials. It turned out that the energy equation based on the Fourier law has the limitations and it should not be used in the case of the microscale heat transfer and also in the case of materials with a special inner structure (e.g. biological tissue). The better approximation of the real thermal processes assure the modifications of the energy equation, in particular the models in which the so-called lag times are introduced. The article presented is devoted to the numerical aspects of solving these types of equations (in the scope of the microscale heat transfer). The results published by the other authors can be found in the references posted in the works cited below.

Graph based Morphable Models Diffusion
Model dyfuzji do generowania morficznych meshy oparty na grafach

Opis:
W związku z tym nazwaliśmy naszą metodę GMMD (Graph-based Morphable Meshes Diffusion).GMMD prezentuje wyniki jakościowe porównywalne z innymi modelami generującymi morficzne meshe, jednocześnie przewyższając je w niektórych metrykach ilościowych.
Generative AI models are in great demand nowadays. Thanks to the intuitive user interface AI ChatBots and image-related models gained widespread popularity. In contrast, this work focuses on generating 3D geometric objects with fixed topology, namely Morphable Meshes. They are a crucial part of many Generative Computer Vision workflows and, at the same time, hidden from the eyes of the end consumer. We introduce a novel 3D graph-aware diffusion model that leverages the unique advantages of Morphable Meshes while effectively overcoming their limitations. Consequently, we named our method GMMD (Graph-based Morphable Meshes Diffusion). GMMD demonstrates qualitative results that are on par with other generative morphable mesh models while surpassing them in certain quantitative metrics.

Opis:
A new nonlocal discrete model of cluster coagulation and fragmentation is proposed. In the model the spatial structure of the processes is taken into account: the clusters may coalesce at a distance between their centers and may diffuse in the physical space Ω. The model is expressed in terms of an infinite system of integro-differential bilinear equations. We prove that some results known in the spatially homogeneous case can be extended to the nonlocal model. In contrast to the corresponding local models the analysis can be carried out in the $L_1(Ω)$ setting. Our purpose is to study global (in time) existence, mass conservation and well-posedness of the model.

Opis:
One of the classical problems of morphogenesis is to explain how patterns of different animals evolved resulting in a consolidated and stable pattern generation after generation. In this paper we simulated the evolution of two hypothetical morphogens, or proteins, that diffuse across a grid modeling the zebra skin pattern in an embryonic state, composed of pigmented and nonpigmented cells. The simulation experiments were carried out applying a genetic algorithm to the Young cellular automaton: a discrete version of the reaction-diffusion equations proposed by Turing in 1952. In the simulation experiments we searched for proper parameter values of two hypothetical proteins playing the role of activator and inhibitor morphogens. Our results show that on molecular and cellular levels recombination is the genetic mechanism that plays the key role in morphogen evolution, obtaining similar results in the presence or absence of mutation. However, spot patterns appear more often than stripe patterns on the simulated skin of zebras. Even when simulation results are consistent with the general picture of pattern modeling and simulation based on the Turing reaction-diffusion, we conclude that the stripe pattern of zebras may be a result of other biological features (i.e., genetic interactions, the Kipling hypothesis) not included in the present model.
