Opis:
This paper explores the role of the built environment and socio-economic drivers in shaping the modal share of commuting. For this, we have identified through our literature review 67 potential variables categorised into two groups; the built environment and the households’ socio-economic characteristics. We have considered the city of Djelfa as a case study and used the questionnaire as a data collection tool. The questionnaire processing of the 700 questionnaires provided to the households allowed us to select 184 questionnaires for our analysis. The sensitivity analysis protocol is designed for two stages; (i) an exploratory stage, conducted by principal component analysis and bivariate correlation analysis; (ii) and a confirmatory stage conducted by a path analysis. The first step allowed us to hypothesise several causal pathways that could explain, directly or indirectly, the modal share of commuting. The results of the path analysis show that the modal shares of walking, private car and public transit are controlled by 13, 16 and 12 explanatory variables, respectively. Overall, the socio-economic characteristics of households discourage walking and transit use, and encourage private car commuting. On the other hand, the variables identified in this paper related to the built environment discourage walking, but encourage the use of public transit rather than private cars for commuting.

Opis:
Objective : this study aimed to address the gap in knowledge by investigating a comprehensive model that simultaneously examines the direct effects of self-esteem on aggression and the indirect effects mediated by loneliness and sympathy for violent radicalization. In this way, we seek to provide a deeper understanding of how these socioemotional and ideological factors are collectively related to aggressive behavior among young people. Method: Data were collected from 767 university students (M = 21.14, SD = 1.90) using an online survey containing self-report scales on self-esteem, loneliness, violent radicalization, and aggressive behavior. The main analyses were conducted using path analysis with a maximum likelihood estimator. Results : the results indicate that the direct effect of self-esteem on aggressive behavior was nonsignificant. Aggression was directly related to loneliness and sympathy for violent radicalization, with loneliness showing the strongest association. Simultaneously, path analysis confirmed two indirect effects from self-esteem to aggressive behavior, one via loneliness and the other via radicalization. Additionally, a sequential pathway emerged, showing that self-esteem influences aggressive behavior through loneliness and then radicalization. Conclusions : the findings demonstrate that self-esteem indirectly influences aggressive behavior through its connections with loneliness and sympathy for violent radicalization, without a direct effect on aggression. These results underscore the importance of addressing loneliness and the need to mitigate the influence of loneliness and radical ideologies in interventions targeting aggressive behavior, with a focus on promoting inclusive environments that foster social belonging. Public Significance Statement: This study highlights that low self-esteem in young adults can lead to loneliness, which may foster aggressive behavior and increase susceptibility to radical ideologies that justify aggression. These findings point to the importance of addressing loneliness and the influence of radical ideologies in programs aimed at reducing aggression.

Opis:
Transport is the second energy consumer sector after housing in Algeria. In this article, we explore the ener- gy implication of commuting by considering a panel of socio-economic (SE) and built environment (BE) driving factors. The method is based on four steps: (i) The first step is to identify the main and potential drivers from the literature review and to propose a model that summarises the main assumptions that could explain the volume of commuting and the resulting energy consumption. (ii) In the second step, we designed and distributed 700 questionnaires in the municipality of Djelfa and retained 184 valid questionnaires in the final study sample. (iii) In the third step, we developed a method adapted to urban areas to quantify energy consumption as a function of the distance travelled, the type and density of occupation by means of transport and the type of fuel. (iv) The fourth step is to check the fit of the hypothetical model with a path analysis-based approach. The model developed identifies 15 factors, of which five have a direct impact and 10 have an indirect impact on the energy consumption of commuting. The model shows that building density and the age of the respondent can reduce the energy consumption of commuting by up to −15% and −12% respectively; whereas the number of cars by housing and the round-trip frequency could increase the energy consumption up to 38% and 27% respectively. Our results suggest a structuring role of the socio-economic characteristics of households in explaining the energy consumption of commuting.

To study the relationship between seed yield and its components 5 varieties and 18 different genotypes of Cicer arietinum were evaluated. This study was carried out under dryland farming during 2007 in research farm of Razi university. Path analysis showed that in the first level of yield, the highest direct effect was related to biological yield and the highest indirect effect was related to seed number per plant due to biological yield. In second level of yield due to the seed number per plant double seed pod number had the highest direct effect and the highest indirect effect was related to hundreds seed weight due to double the seed pod number. In second level of yield due to biological yield, the highest direct effect was related to high plant and the highest indirect effect was related to high plant due to second branch number. In the third level of yield due to a hundred seed weight, the highest direct effect was related to pod diameter and the highest indirect effect was related to pod length due to pod diameter. Factor analysis showed that 5 factors explained 81.65 percent of the variance. Cluster analysis based on ward method were arranged genotypes in 3 clusters.

Opis:
This study builds on an existing structural model developed to examine the influence of leadership and organizational culture on innovation and satisfaction of engineers in Australian public sectors (APS). The objective of this study is to increase the understanding of innovation process with a focus on causal relationships among critical factors. To achieve this objective, the study develops an assessment approach to help predict creativity and work meaningfulness of engineers in the APS. Three quantitative analysis methods were sequentially conducted in this study including correlation analysis, path analysis, and Bayesian networks. A correlation analysis was conducted to pinpoint the strong association between key factors studied. Subsequently, path analysis was employed to identify critical pathways which were accordingly used as a structure to develop Bayesian networks. The findings of the study revealed practical strategies for promoting (1) transformational leadership and (2) innovative culture in public sector organizations since these two factors were found to be key drivers for individual creativity and work meaningfulness of their engineers. This integrated approach may be used as a decision support tool for managing the innovation process for engineers in the public sectors.

Genotypic correlations and path–coefficients were determined for nine yield-related agronomic traits using 10 accessions of scarlet eggplant. There were significant (p < 0.05) differences among the 10 accessions for all traits and differences were largely due to genetic effects. There was no significant positive correlation of any trait with fruit yield, but number of days to flowering, plant height at flowering and number of days to fruit maturity were significantly (p < 0.05) and negatively correlated with fruit yield. Path-coefficient analyses showed that number of fruits per plant had the highest direct effect on fruit yield, followed by fruit diameter...

Opis:
The work is based on results of hourly measurements of the particles PM10 and PM2.5 as well as 24-h measurements of meteorological elements in Siedlce. Analysis spanned the years 2012-2016. Based on the Polish Index of Air Quality developed by the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (GIOŚ), there were determined numbers of days in six air quality classes. Analysis of the effect of meteorological conditions on particulate matter content in the air was based on 24-h concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 exceeding the standard value of 50 µg/m3 for PM10 and 25 µg/m3 for PM2.5. Variation in the excessive concentrations in weather conditions described by means of air temperature, air humidity, wind direction and speed was assessed by means of Wright path analysis. Satisfactory, poor and very poor air quality was recorded in winter only. Path analysis revealed that variation in pollution is affected by wind speed and direction as well as air temperature. Increased concentrations of particulate matter were found mainly on days with low wind speed and low air temperature.
Zmienność ponadnormatywnych stężeń w warunkach pogodowych opisanych temperaturą powietrza, wilgotnością powietrza, kierunkiem i prędkością wiatru oceniono przy zastosowaniu analizy ścieżek Wrighta. Podwyższone stężenia pyłów zawieszonych notowano głównie w dniach z małą prędkością wiatru i niską temperaturą.
