Opis:: Cet article en se basant sur les résultats d’une analyse comparative des dénominations de perruches en français, allemand et polonais met en relief les difficultés d’un traducteur, notamment lors de choix qu’il doit faire. Pour sélectionner un terme équivalent dans la langue cible, il retrace le chemin dénominatif que le créateur du mot de la langue source a suivi jusqu'à la lexicalisation pour reconnaître la représentation conceptuelle à laquelle il associera la dénomination de la langue cible. La démarche pragmatique du traducteur se rapproche ainsi de celle du créateur.
This article based on the results of a comparative analysis (French, German, Polish) of denominations of budgerigars points out some difficulties translators have to face, especially when they need to choose between several terms, in either the source language or the target language. To select an equivalent term they ‘redraw’ the way that the creators of words in the compared languages follow right up to lexicalization. The pragmatic process during the search for an equivalent term is thus similar to the search leading to the creation of the word : translation is a kind of re-denomination.
Na przykładzie analizy porównawczej francuskich, niemieckich i polskich nazw papug ukazane są trudności tłumacza w dokonywaniu wyboru odpowiedniego ekwiwalentu. Aby dokonać wyboru właściwego terminu w języku docelowym, odtwarza przebieg tworzenia nazwy przez jej kreatora w języku wyjściowym, aż do jej leksykalizacji, aby odczytać reprezentację konceptualną do której przypisana będzie nazwa w języku docelowym. Owo ujęcie pragmatyczne tłumacza zbieżnie jest w z ujęciem kreatora nazwy.

Opis:: Language disciplines, including Terminology and Specialized Translation, have made great strides after the second half of the twentieth century. This development, related to technological growth and international communication that occurred during this period, has resulted in a considerable increase of concepts. Thus, experts have become more and more aware of the importance of naming these new concepts. Specialized translators were among the first language professionals to recognize the need of mastering the terminology of specialized fields in order to perform their duties well (Antia et coll., 2005). In this work, we study the very close relationship between Terminology and Specialized Translation. We also study the theoretical and practical knowledge of Terminology that a specialized translator should have.

Opis:: L’objet du travail consite en une analyse des traductions des termes polonais en français appartenant à une branche de l’industrie assez jeune et peu connue – à la nivoculture (fabrication de neige artificielle). La base du corpus a été composée des termes polonais venant des catalogues technico-commerciaux pour lesquels on essayait de trouver les équivalents dans les : traductions de ces catalogues en français, dictionnaires de terminologie technique, sources internet (français, italien). À l’analyse plus détaillée ont été soumis : les termes-clés de la branche possédant plusieurs et différents traductions (plusieurs vérsions de catalogues) et les termes dont les équivalents trouvés dans les dictionnaires diffèraient de manière significative des formes et du contenu sémantique des équivalents trouvés dans les sources internet (sites web des entreprises française et italienne). Pour ces cas, l'analyse a été enrichie de l’avis de spécialistes français sur l'adéquation des traductions des termes données. Ces demarches ont permis de prouver que la traduction des textes techniques ne peut pas se limiter uniquement à la recherche des équivalents terminologiques dans des dictionnaires techniques. De plus, l’étude a démontré que l'action de traduction est un processus complexe dans lequel l’aide de spécialistes d'un domaine technique donné et la prélecture des sources parallèles de la langue cible se révèlent une aide inestimable pour la qualité des traductions techniques.
The aim of this work is an analysis of translations of technical terminology (from Polish into French) derived from a quite new but dynamically growing field of industry - snowmaking. The base of the analyzed material consists of Polish terms taken from the technical and commercial catalogs. We have tried to look for their equivalents in : French versions of the mentioned catalogs (translations from Polish to French), dictionaries of scientific and technical terminology, Internet sources (French, Italian). A detailed analysis has been executed on the key terms of the industry which :-were translated in different ways (several versions of catalogs) -whose equivalent terms found in dictionaries of technical teminology differed significantly from forms and semantic content of the equivalents found in the Internet sources.In such cases, the analysis has been enriched with the French specialists’ opinion in this field concerning the adequacy of translations of given terms. The conclusions have shown that on the one hand the translations of technical texts can not be limited only to searching for terminological equivalents in technical dictionaries, and on the second hand, the translation is a multi-stage process in which the specialists’ opinion in a given technical field and learning about parallel sources in the target language are an invaluable help having an immense impact on the quality of the technical texts translations.
Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest analiza tłumaczeń z języka polskiego na język francuski terminologii technicznej pochodzącej z nowopowstałej, niszowej, lecz prężnie rozwijającej się dziedziny przemysłu – naśnieżania. Bazę korpusu stanowią terminy polskie zaczerpnięte z katalogów techniczno-handlowych dla których starano się odnaleźć odpowiedniki odnalezione w : tłumaczeniach tychże katalogów na język francuski, słownikach terminologii technicznej, źródłach internetowych (francuskich, włoskich). Szczegółowej analizie zostały poddane terminy kluczowe dla branży, posiadające wiele tłumaczeń (kilka wersji katalogów), bądź których odpowiedniki znalezione w słownikach terminologii technicznej znacznie odbiegały od form i zawartości semantycznej odpowiedników znalezionych w źródłach internetowych. W takich przypadkach, analiza ta została wzbogacona o opinię francuskich specjalistów z tej dziedziny. Analiza jak i opinie specjalistów co do adekwatności tłumaczeń danych terminów umożliwiły wykazać, że tłumaczenia tekstów technicznych nie mogą ograniczać się tylko i wyłącznie do wyszukiwania odpowiedników terminologicznych w słownikach technicznych, a sama akcja tłumaczenia jest procesem wieloetapowym, w którym zarówno konsultacja specjalistów z danej dziedziny technicznej jak i poznanie paralelnych źródeł w języku docelowym okazują się bezcenną pomocą wpływającą na jakość wykonywanych tłumaczeń.

Opis:: The article discusses the use of metaphors in the terminology of astronomy and astrophysics. The terminology of these fields is relatively stable, characterized by terminological diversity, thus allowing to draw sufficiently general conclusions. Three cases are to be considered: (a) first, the metaphor as a powerful source of terms, assuming the denominative function, (b) the terminological metaphor which leaves a certain domain and which penetrates into the general language, which is sometimes called determinologization, and, (c) finally, the terminological metaphor migrating from one specialized domain to other terminologies in which it is newly used to denote another concept, this phenomenon sometimes being referred to as transterminologization. The three processes are analysed and documented, using French and Czech examples, excerpted from specialised texts (encyclopaedic dictionary and newspaper articles).

Opis:: Artykuł zawiera szczegółową analizę czasowników garantir i assurer oraz polskich ekwiwalentów gwarantować, zapewniać i zabezpieczyć, wyodrębnionych z tekstów normatywnych, jakimi są konstytucje państwowe i Konstytucja duszpasterska o Kościele w świecie współczesnym Gaudium et spes Kościoła katolickiego. Jako czasowniki modalne deontyczne zapewnienia są używane w określonych typach tekstów specjalistycznych. Badanie zależności między typem tekstu konstytucyjnego a doborem czasowników zapewnienia w języku oryginału wykazuje, że zarówno konstrukcja składniowa, jak i znaczenie tych czasowników są charakterystyczne dla danego typu tekstu. Refleksja nad doborem tych czasowników w tekstach tłumaczonych prowadzi do wniosku, że warto ponownie przemyśleć dobór ekwiwalentów w tekście tłumaczonym zgodnie ze stylem redakcji właściwym dla danego tekstu normatywnego. Szczegółowe ilustracje dwujęzycznych kontekstów tekstów porównywalnych, jak i paralelnych mają także na celu wskazanie specjalistom z lingwistyki komputerowej problemów, jakie pojawiają się przy kodowaniu, a które wynikają z transformacji struktur z systemu danego języka w ich realizacjach dyskursywnych oraz w przeformułowaniu całych fraz z czasownikiem zapewnienia w procesie tłumaczenia wraz z konsekwencjami wynikającymi z wyborem modalności de re lub de dicto.
The article contains a detailed analysis of the verbs garantir and assurer and their evivalents in Polish gwarantować, zapewniać i zabezpieczyć extracted from the normative texts, which are national constitutions and the constitution of the Catholic Church. As modal deontological verbs of assurance they are used in specialized texts. The study of the relationship between the type of a constitutional text and the choice of verbs of assurance in the language of the original indicates that both the syntactic structure and the meaning of those verbs are characteristic of a given type of text. The reflection over the choice of those verbs in translated texts leads to the conclusion that it is worthwhile to re-think the use of equivalents in the translated text according to the redaction style appropriate for a given normative text. Detailed illustrations of bilingual contexts of comparable texts as well as of parallel ones also aim at pointing out to computer linguistics specialists certain issues appearing during encoding and which arise from the transformation of whole phrases containing a verb of assurance during the translation process along with the consequences resulting from the choice of the de re or de dicto modality.
