One of the main factors which influence the effectiveness of libraries’ work are the quality of management and the manager’s choice of methods, techniques and other methods of management. Their proper use makes it possible to realize the strategic aims in a better way, and to get to know the mechanisms of functioning of one’s own library and the rules governing its surroundings. The necessity of having knowledge and of using a wide range of the management methods by the library is more often noticed and discussed in the library literature.

Opis:
Data collected through an online survey and through a number of detailed company assessments throw light on the relative strengths and weaknesses of different elements of Knowledge Management (KM) frameworks as applied globally. The online survey - a quick self-administered test, shows the strongest elements within the framework to be Technology and Behaviors and Culture. The weakest elements are KM Governance and KM Roles. The assessment - a detailed diagnostic process based on in-depth interviews, shows the strongest elements within the framework to be Technology and the Discussion of Knowledge. The weakest elements are KM Governance and KM Roles. a comparison of the results from the two sources is reassuringly close. More data may allow a more detailed analysis. Preliminary results suggest that national culture may influence the development of Knowledge Management Frameworks, with a correlation between strong Individuality and weak KM Governance and Roles.

Opis:
The every third university in Poland is using co-funding of Eu-ropean funds, however not every project carried out is ending with the success, with achieving established effects. From here a question about it also arises in what way projects are being carried out in the higher educa-tion sector and how should be carried out? Methods used for the project management which from one side are thrown seem to have a key im-portance through European Union, from the other side should be possibly best adapted for the kind of the project and environmental conditions, in which the project is being carried out in order to achieve success. This paper presents an analysis of types of EU projects in the field of higher education. The authors have attempted to assign specific projects to different management models, which in the most optimal way to meet the specifics and requirements of the projects. It is worthwhile paying attention to the large variability of surroundings, in which at present projects of universities are being carried out. In this con-text, the traditional management can be applied exclusively with reference to projects which aren't sensitive for changes in external factors. Other types of projects, as has been shown, require a more flexible approach. The use of project management approach adaptive management model that is agile or extreme, can meet the current challenges of organization, as well as give you the flexibility to adapt to external changes.

Opis:
The modern world brings demographic changes that are of great importance to employers. There are currently four generations on the labor market – baby boomers, X, Y, and Z, who differ in their approach to work, needs, and expectations. However, good cooperation in the workplace is necessary. An appropriate solution, in this case, is the proper management of generational diversity in the organization. However, its level depends on many factors, including the type of organizational culture. It was decided to examine this relationship. Therefore, research was conducted, the results of which showed whether and how the type of organizational culture determines the management of an age-diverse team. The purpose of the research is a recognition of the relationship between the type of organizational culture and the level of age management in the organization. The research outcomes showed that the type of organizational culture is one of the factors determining the level of management of generational diversity in an enterprise. Interestingly, organizations with a clan-type culture that assumes values and practices in line with the idea of multigenerational management are not the best at managing an age-diverse team.

Reflexivity in aesthetic situation management

Szostak, M. (2023) ‘Reflexivity in aesthetic situation management’, Discourses on Culture, 20, pp. 161–197. doi: 10.2478/doc‑2023‑0015.
Opis:
The article deals with reflexivity in the context of the aesthetic situation from two perspectives: self-management and management of the components in the aesthetic situation. All considerations are based on the theory of the aesthetic situation (Gołaszewska, 1984), transcribed into the management field (Szostak, 2023a) with the use of a metaphor of an organisation as a work of art (Szostak & Sułkowski, 2020). Emphasis on reflexivity in specific components of the aesthetic situation – especially the creator and the recipient perspectives – brings a new light into the process of self-awareness and prediction of potential consequences of activities before their appearance. The following issues are addressed by exploring the intersection between reflexivity and aesthetic situation management: aesthetic decision-making, reception process, cultural and social contexts, transcending aesthetic boundaries, artistic collaboration, ethical considerations, self-critique, and historical context.

Management of Art During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Musical Arts Creator Perspective

Opis:
Purpose: Management in the field of art has three dimensions: self-management, managing the aesthetic situation and managing a cultural institution. This work aims to analyze changes in the artistically creative process understood as the management of the aesthetic situation depending on the form in which participation in art takes place: traditionally, i.e. in-person or virtually using digital methods. Design/methodology/approach: Literature analysis, own empirical qualitative research in the form of interviews with 19 musical arts creators, and autoethnography allowed answer the following research questions: 1) How do forced virtualisation and digitization affect the quality of the creative process in the aesthetic situation regarding musical arts? 2) Which qualitative parameters of the aesthetic situation are losing and which are gaining quality in connection with the virtualisation of the creative process regarding musical arts? Findings: Forced virtualisation and digitization significantly affect the quality of the creative process within the aesthetic situation, depending on the form of participation in art. The creator, managing the creative process within the aesthetic situation, must take into account the new optics concerning the components of the aesthetic situation because otherwise, his work will be incomprehensible or unattainable for the recipients – not due to the low quality of the work, but because the work in new virtualised circumstances may change its properties. The results of research show exact components of the aesthetic situation being subject to modifications by the musical arts creator due to the form of participation in the aesthetic situation. Practical implications: The study of musical arts creator’s perspective might have practical implications for individuals (musical arts creators and managers or leaders of musical arts groups) and musical arts organizations (business-type and non-profit-type). Originality value: The following groups should be interested in the research results: 1) musical arts creators to develop or structure their perception of the creative process; 2) musical art managers to develop or structure their perception of the complex nature of the creative process of musical art groups they manage; 3) musical art institutions’ managers to develop or structure their perception of the complex nature of the creative process of musical artists involved in the institutions they manage.
