Opis:
Background: Health is not the only aspect people consider when choosing to consume meat; environmental concerns about the impact of meat (production and distribution) can influence people’s meat choices. Methods: We conducted a mixed-methods systematic review, searched six databases from inception to June 2020, and synthesised our findings into narrative forms. We integrated the evidence from quantitative and qualitative data sets into joint displays and assessed the confidence in the evidence for each review finding following the GRADE-CERQual approach. Results: Of the 23,531 initial records, we included 70 studies: 56 quantitative, 12 qualitative, and 2 mixed-methods studies. We identified four main themes: (1) reasons for eating meat; (2) reasons for avoiding meat; (3) willingness to change meat consumption; and (4) willingness to pay more for environmentally friendly meat. The overall confidence was low for the reasons for eating and/or buying meat, for avoiding meat, and for willingness to change meat consumption, and was moderate for willingness to pay more for environmentally friendly meat. Conclusions: Regardless of people’s general beliefs about meat and its impact on the environment, most people may be unwilling to change their meat consumption. Future research should address the current limitations of the research evidence to assess whether people are willing to make a change when properly informed.

Opis:
Objective: The aim of this study is to identify and describe the processes suggested for the formulation of healthcare recommendations in healthcare guidelines available in guidance documents. Methods: We searched international databases in May 2020 to retrieve guidance documents published by organizations dedicated to guideline development. Pairs of researchers independently selected and extracted data about the characteristics of the guidance document, including explicit or implicit recommendation-related criteria and processes considered, as well as the use of evidence to decision (EtD) frameworks. Results: We included 68 guidance documents. Most organizations reported a system for grading the strength of recommendations (88%), half of them being the GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation) approach. Two out of three guidance documents (66%) proposed the use of a framework to guide the EtD process. The GRADE-EtD framework was the most often reported framework (19 organizations, 42%), whereas 20 organizations (44%) proposed their own multicriteria frameworks. Using any EtD framework was related with a more comprehensive set of recommendation-related criteria compared to no framework, especially for criteria like values, equity, and acceptability. Conclusion: Although limited, the use of EtD frameworks was associated with the inclusion of relevant recommendation criteria. Among the EtD structured frameworks, the GRADE-EtD framework offers the most comprehensive perspective for evidence-informed decision-making processes.

Autorzy:
Cisek, Sabina
Opis:
The author characterizes selected aspects of methods of literature analysis and criticism in library and information science and observes a significant increase of researchers’ interest in this research method in 21st century informatology and library studies. Two basic roles of literature analysis and criticism in scholarly research are analyzed - the auxiliary (heuristic) and the independent (knowledge-creating) one. Stages and variants of the analysis are described, including a traditional analysis, systematic review and meta-analysis. The closing part of the article includes results of pilot research on selected properties and features of literature analysis and criticism in contemporary library and information science.
Artykuł zawiera charakterystykę wybranych aspektów metody analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa. Stwierdzono znaczący wzrost zainteresowania tym sposobem postępowania badawczego w informatologii i bibliotekoznawstwie w XXI w. Rozważono dwie podstawowe role analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa w dociekaniach naukowych - pomocniczą, heurystyczną oraz niezależną, wiedzotwórczą. W skazano jej fazy i warianty, w tym - wersję tradycyjną, przegląd systematyczny i metaanalizę. Przedstawiono wyniki badań pilotażowych, dotyczących niektórych własności metody analizy i krytyki piśmiennictw a we współczesnej nauce o informacji i bibliotekoznawstwie.
