Opis:
Difficult situations are unavoidable in every human's life. They may challenge a person to cope with them in order to overcome the obstacles. The search for personal resources that help one successfully deal with life's challenges has become, in recent years, one of the main issues for both psychology and pedagogy. Resiliency, understood as a personality trait is a subjective quality, which helps one to develop flexible and positive adaptation to difficult situations and to overcome them. The article aims to present the importance of resiliency and the possibilities for raising humans capable of coping with life's obstacles and everyday difficulties.

Opis:
The article brings an answer to the question of which situations students perceive as difficult and which coping strategies they rely on. The study, consisting of two surveys, was carried out in the school year 2021/2022 and was conducted in 22 classes in the sixth and seventh years. Teams were drawn from all such classes in state primary schools in one lager city. The questionnaire How Do You Cope by Zygfryd Juczyński and Nina Ogińska-Bulik was used for the diagnosis. Analysis of the results shows that girls and boys differ in their perception of difficult situations. In the girls’ group, both in the first and second survey, problems in relations with peers were indicated most frequently, and those concerning family relations were mentioned somewhat less frequently. Boys, however, most frequently indicated that difficult situations are those that concerned school. The second most frequently mentioned ones were difficulties in relationships with peers. Irrespective of the type of situation indicated by the respondents as difficult, the strategy consisting in seeking support was used least frequently and a focus on emotions was used most frequently.

Opis:
The article deals with the problem of family conflict and the possibility of solving it through mediation. The content of it concerns: conflict and its consequences for the family system, causes and types of conflicts, as well as people's reaction to conflict. It presents mediation as a method of amicable settlement of a dispute, as a procedure that allows the conflicting parties to reach an agreement, rebuild or improve relations. Mediation has been presented as a form of intervention in the dispute, creating the possibility of an agreement between the parties without the participation of the court. It was indicated that this is a procedure that directs the parties to the future and allows to satisfy the interests of both parties. The article presents the possibilities and barriers to the application of mediation in family matters.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to identify the preferred means of coping with stress among the workers of tourism industry, specifically, foreign excursion guides. The research problem was formulated in the form of the following question: What ways of dealing with stressful situations are preferred by the workers of tourism industry – foreign excursion guides? Material and methods: The subject of the study was a group of 31 practicing guides. The chosen research method was a diagnostic poll. The adopted research tool was the Ways of Coping Questionnaire developed by S. Folkman and R. Lazarus. Results: Results were divided regarding sex and place of residence. Average results of men are slightly higher for the following strategies: “Desires” (M=7,33; W=6,50), “Passive attitude” (M=7,66; W=6,25), “Positive attitude” (M=5,40; W=4,00), “Blaming oneself” (M=4,29; W=4,00) and “Retiring into oneself” (M=3,96; W=2,75). Women, in turn, handle better such strategies as “Solving problems” (W=18,50; M=16,96), “Seeking social support” (W=11,25; M=9,40) and “Reduction of tension” (W=4,50; M=3,14). In all the cases, however, no significant differences can be noticed. Conclusions: The subjects of the study do not seem to prefer any of the eight analyzed ways of coping with problematic situations, which is confirmed by the average results obtained for all the strategies. More specifically, however, it can be noticed that men tend to employ the strategy of rational approach to problems more than women. The analyses also show that the variables such as sex and place of living do not significantly influence the subjects’ preferences with respect to the ways of coping with difficult situations.

The project entitled “Key Competencies in Teaching and Education” was implemented under the recruitment of the Praděd Microprojects Fund, Priority axis number: 11.4, priority axis name: Cooperation of institutions and communities. Aim. The theoretical and cognitive aims of the research were to diagnose the competencies of teachers and students in the field of critical thinking. The objective of the research was to develop practical recommendations that could be used in the education programs of future teachers. Methods. The research used the method of a diagnostic survey; the questionnaire technique. Results. The results of the research showed differences between the behaviour of teachers and students in such matters as contacts with parents, following the headmaster’s instructions, using innovative teaching methods and self-confidence in everyday work-related situations.

The practical-implementation objective of the research was to develop practical recommendations that may be included in the education programs of future teachers and principals. Methods. The research used the method of a diagnostic survey and the questionnaire technique. Data analysis was performed with the use of STATISTICA software. Results. The research results showed differences between the behaviour of teachers and principals in such matters as contact with parents, following the headmaster’s instructions, using innovative teaching methods and self-confidence in everyday work-related situations. The results show statistically significant differences in their declarations of behaviour in a particular situation. From the research, it can be concluded that principals are more interested than teachers in solving any difficult situation to resolve the conflict rather than focusing primarily on the consequences of the situation.

Paediatric nurses are continuously subject to difficult situations because they are responsible for the most important values such as health and life of a child. The aim of the study was to recognise difficult situations in paediatric nurses' practise, and ways of solving problems in nursing care. Study group comprised of 108 nurses employed in paediatric departments in Malopolska Province. The study used home-made survey questionnaire, CISS questionnaire for examination of reactions on difficult situations and KWEP questionnaire for measurement of emotional support received because of problems originating from professional work. Results show that there are many difficult situations in paediatric nurses' practise. Those situations result from the nature of the work, its organization and interpersonal relationships.

In many scientific studies, the soldier is treated as a socially isolated person; the researchers’ interest is mainly focused on the psychophysical health of representatives of this social group. The article, based on a literature review, analyses the emotional, health and social costs incurred by other members of military families both during and after the soldier’s operations abroad. The article looks at the functioning of military families. Sources of difficult situations that may arise in soldiers’ families are listed, and parental attitudes characteristic of such families are discussed.

Author’s aim was to analyze religiosity and attribution processes as well as correlation between those variables. The paper contains the interpretation of these terms and also the review of key attributions and the religion theories, with the analysis of their part in coping with difficult situations. The first hypothesis assumed that there is a link between religiosity and attributions towards God. The second hypothesis assumed the relationship between the centrality of religion and attributions. In order to ver- ify these hypotheses the following questionnaires were used: C–15 Test –Religiosity Centrality Scale by S. Huber, EtG, RC–SS, PERC, questions describing a difficult situation as well as questions referring to positive and negative attribution. The study group consisted of 90 people; a half of the group belonged to religious association – The Alliance of Mercy. The study showed positive correlation between the dif- ferent dimensions of the C–15 test and the centrality of religion and positive and negative attributions.

Specyfika i występowanie sytuacji trudnych w kontaktach pielęgniarek/pielęgniarzy z pacjentami osadzonymi w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych

Praca pielęgniarek/pielęgniarzy w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych wiąże się z ciągłym narażeniem na występowanie sytuacji trudnych, co wynika z faktu bezpośredniego kontaktu ze skazanymi. Czyni to pracę personelu więziennego niebezpieczną i stresującą.Celem mojej pracy jest analiza sytuacji trudnych pojawiających się w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych oraz następstw ich występowania w kontaktach pielęgniarki/pielęgniarza z pacjentami osadzonymi. Istotny jest też wpływ takich uwarunkowań na kondycję psychiczną pielęgniarek. Pytanie badawcze dotyczyło związków występujących pomiędzy specyficznymi sytuacjami trudnymi, a nasileniem oznak wypalenia zawodowego, postaci posiadanych przekonań o sobie i świecie oraz dominującego nastroju.Materiał badawczy uzyskano w wyniku przeprowadzonych badań w okresie od marca do maja 2016 roku. Grupę badawczą stanowiło 50 pielęgniarek i 30 pielęgniarzy pracujących w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych okręgu krakowskiego. W badaniach zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego. Narzędziem badawczym była ankieta własnej konstrukcji dotycząca zagadnienia występowania sytuacji trudnych w pracy pielęgniarek i pielęgniarzy w kontaktach z pacjentami osadzonymi w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych, a także standaryzowany kwestionariusz do oceny wypalenia zawodowego (MBI), Skala Założeń wobec Świata oraz narzędzie do pomiaru nasilenia negatywnych i pozytywnych emocji – skala pozytywnego i negatywnego afektu (PANAS).W wyniku badań udało się wykazać, że w pracy pielęgniarek/pielęgniarzy w Zakładach Karnych i Aresztach Śledczych istnieje wiele trudnych sytuacji. Wynikają one z istoty, organizacji i fizycznych warunków pracy oraz relacji z osadzonymi pacjentami.Niezależnie od wieku, płci i wykształcenia zbadanych respondentów zaobserwowano, iż poziom wypalenia zawodowego w trzech aspektach, zgodnie z koncepcją Maslach jest wysoki. Zauważono również, nasilenie poziomu fundamentalnych przekonań człowieka dotyczących kontroli własnego zachowania oraz własnej wartości. Z uzyskanych wyników badań zaobserwowano, iż wzmożenie pozytywnych jak i negatywnych emocji wśród personelu pielęgniarskiego zatrudnionego w Służbie Więziennej jest wysokie.
The work of nurses in prisons and remand centers is associated with continuous exposure to the occurrence of difficult situations, which stems from direct contact with convicts. This makes the work of prison staff dangerous and stressful.The purpose of my work is to analyze difficult situations occurring in prisons and remand centers, and the consequences of their occurrence in dealing nurses with the convicted patients as well as their impact on the mental health of nurses. Research question concerns the connections that exist between specific difficult situations and the increasing of the professional burnout, held beliefs about themselves and the world and the dominant mood.The research material was obtained as a result of tests conducted in the period from March till May in 2016. The research group consisted of 50 female nurses and 30 male nurses working in prisons and detention centers located in Krakow’s district. A method of diagnostic survey was used in the study. The tool used to carry out research was a self-prepared survey on the issues of occurrence of difficult situations in the work of nurses in dealing with detained patients in prisons and detention centers, as well as a standardized questionnaire to assess the professional burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory), World Assumptions Scale and the tool for measuring the severity of negative and positive emotions - the Positive And Negative Affect Scale (PANAS).The research was able to show that the work of nurses in prisons and detention centers involves dealing with many difficult situations and that it results from the nature of organizations as well as working conditions and relationships with detained patients.Regardless of age, sex and education of respondents survey observed that the level of professional burnout in three respects, in accordance with the concept of Maslach, is high. The intensification of the fundamental beliefs concerning human control of their own behavior and self-esteem was also noted. With the obtained results we can observe that the severity of positive and negative emotions among nursing staff working in the prison service is high.
