Opis:
Genus Acer in the Republic of Mordovia is presented by four plant species: Acer campestre L., A. negundo L., A. platanoides L. and A. tataricum L. For A. campestre and A. tataricum we investigated accompanying flora composition and conducted its analysis; characteristics of populations were carried out. Seed reproduction of A. negundo was investigated in seminatural and anthropogenically disturbed habitats. Seed reproduction is of little importance for the maintenance of A. campestre populations on the north-eastern border of its range. This is offset by an active vegetative propagation by root offsprings. So, very few A. campestre individuals reach the generative age. A. tataricum is capable to grow in open as well as in woodland habitats in floodplains. Sufficient light and moderate moisture are the most significant environmental factors for A. tataricum populations. Depressing of tatarian maple is observed under conditions of shading in plant community with A. negundo dominance. Analysis of the accompanying floras of A. campestre and A. tataricum shows the coenotical confinement of these maple species. Seed reproduction of A. negundo was significantly higher in seminatural habitats with dominance of ash-leaved maple than it was in urban environment. Probably, this is a manifestation of indirect facilitation of the adult A. negundo tree canopy for the growth of its own seedlings by oppressing of other plants (e.g. A. tataricum seedlings). Thus, we showed relevance for investigations of interactions between closely related tree species.

Opis:
In the study the content of K, Ca, Mg and Na in the leaves of Acer platanoides L., growing in the agglomeration of Gdynia and Gdansk, was shown and the mean ion equivalent ratios between these elements were determined. The obtained results showed large differentiation in the amount of the elements in the leaves of maple growing on particular sites in the urban environment. Correlation relationships between the concentration of heavy metals in the leaves of maple show a significant influence, particularly in the case of of Cd and Pb, on the content of determined elements in the assimilation apparatus. The results of the studies on the trees also showed changes in mutual ion ratios of the elements in the leaves.

The paper presents the results of phenological observations carried out in 2017 on the following species of maples: Acer buergerianum, A. campestre, A. capillipes, A. cappadocicum, A. carpinifolium, A. circinatum, A. cissifolium, A. davidii, A. diabolicum, A. griseum, A. japonicum, A. maximowiczianum, A. miyabei, A. mono, A. palmatum, A. platanoides, A. rubrum, A. rufinerve, A. saccharum, A. shirasawanum, A. stachyophyllum, A. tataricum, A. tataricum ssp. ginnala and A. truncatum. The studies have been conducted in the Botanical Garden of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań based on the Shennikov research method (1928) modified by Łukasiewicz (1984). Observations have shown that the longest foliage period have species: A. japonicum, A. mono, A. platanoides and A. rubrum, while the longest duration of the autumn leaf discoloration is characterized by A. stachyophyllum, A. circinatum, A. palmatum, A. mono and female specimen of A. cissifolium. In addition all studied species, except A. buergerianum, A. capillipes, A. circinatum, A. tataricum and A. tataricum ssp. ginnala, are distinguished by the attractive autumn color of the leaves. The longest flowering period was in A. truncatum, A. stachyophyllum, A. circinatum and A. palmatum, while A. buergerianum, A. diabolicum and A. saccharum did not bloom at all. The most attractive flowers have A. davidii and A. platanoides and the most decorative fruits have A. capillipes, A. davidii, A. tataricum and A. tataricum ssp. ginnala. Studies have also shown that A. mono, A. rubrum and A. rufinerve did not fruition at all. The species of maple with the highest number of positive traits is Acer davidii, therefore it should be used as often as possible in green areas.

Opis:
The present study shows the results of the research work on the content of assimilation dyes in the leaves of Acer platanoides L., growing in different site conditions in Szczecin. The variance analysis showed a significant influence of the site and the date on the content of the studied physiological parameters. Lower amounts of chlorophyll and carotenoids were obtained in the leaves of trees growing along the street of high volume of traffic. On the basis of the correlation coefficient, a significant negative correlational relationship was recorded between the concentration of Cd, Pb, Fe and Cu in the leaves and the content of chlorophyll a and b in the leaves of Acer platanoides.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań zawartości barwników asymilacyjnych w lioeciach Acer platanoides L., rosnącego w różnych warunkach siedliskowych Szczecina. Opis:
This study examined the impact of air pollution, and more specifically the impact of traffic, on the health of urban trees. Due to the lack of data sets, urban tree growth modeling often relies on the existing knowledge of forest. However, urban trees differ from forest trees. One of the aims of the study is to fill the lacunae in this field. It was hypothesized that in streets with higher traffic volume, both growth parameters and health status of trees would be decreased in comparison to trees growing in streets with lower traffic volume. Four of the most common tree species growing in Berlin were selected: Tilia cordata Mill., Acer platanoides L., Platanus acerifolia (Aiton) Willd., and Aesculus hippocastanum L. Apart from the tree age and stand position (high and low traffic volume), the height and circumference were measured and the following traits were analyzed: trunk condition, crown defoliation, leaf discoloration, the presence of hollows and nests. The streets that were selected for the analysis were located in the center of Berlin. For each species, four streets with high traffic volume and four streets with low traffic volume were chosen. The car traffic volume had a significant impact on growth parameters. Significant differences in height and circumference between trees growing on streets with low or high traffic volume were noticed; the higher the traffic volume, the lower the tree height and circumference. This tendency is particularly visible in P. acerifolia, T. cordata and A. platanoides. This relation was observed in all species except for A. hippocastanum. In the conditions of high-traffic volume, A. platanoides is thriving revealing the smallest differences in vitali- ty and condition of the crown, trunk and leaves. The greatest differences in the health condition of the trees among the analyzed variants of traffic intensity were observed in the case of T. cordata. Lime trees seem to be most suitable for planting in the streets with lower traffic volume, whereas A. platanoides seems most suitable for planting in the streets with high traffic volume. P. acerifolia, despite its generally good health, is suffering from several progressing diseases. It is worth considering whether it should be gradually replaced with more resistant species. Aesculus, especially A. hippocastanum, are currently the most endangered ones. An alternative to this species can be A. carnea.

Opis:
The Board of Appeal (BoA) of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) belongs to the category of appeal bodies hearing appeals against the deci-sions of EU administrative agencies. ACER BoA acts on the basis of legal framework dedicated to the Agency, while the rules of conduct before the Board are regulated by internal rules of procedure. These regulations are practically the only legal acts regulating the procedure before the BoA, as the EU has not adopted a single ad-ministrative code that would regulate the procedure before such bodies, inter alia. The BoA is a specialised body responsible for adjudicating complex cases in the field of the EU common energy market related to the implementation of European network codes. The CJEU (General Court) sought to dispel any doubts concerning the rules of adjudication of the BoA in the ACER v. Aquind judgment by expressing a number of views on the scope and standard of adjudication, but even in the light of this judgment, a number of matters remain unclear. Consequently, it is all the more urgent to adopt a clear procedural and systemic framework governing the functioning of the BoA.

Opis:
Iberian temperate forests are distributed along the boundary between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean biogeographical regions, and represent the south-western range edges of diverse European broadleaved deciduous tree species. Trees growing at the boundary between Atlantic and Mediterranean biomes suffer from different stresses, including increasing moisture deficit which has been identified as one of the main limitations for growth. In this work, dendrochronological techniques were employed to characterize the radial growth of Acer campestre L., Fagus sylvatica L., Fraxinus excelsior L., and Quercus robur L. in a mixed forest in northern Spain, and examine its relationships with local climate near their south-western range edges. Acer and Fagus tree-ring chronologies showed the highest common signal and the strongest responses to climate. Positive effects of precipitation, especially in the previous December and current summer, were relevant for growth of all species. Only Acer growth showed a detrimental effect of maximum diurnal temperatures in the previous autumn and current summer, while Fraxinus and Quercus growth was benefited by above-average winter temperatures. Cloud cover strongly improved the radial growth of all species, probably because cloudy conditions mitigate the detrimental effects of summer water depletion and low winter temperatures. The beneficial effects of precipitation and cloudiness on tree growth were temporally unstable and have become significant generally since the 1970s, suggesting that rising temperatures and decreasing rainfall shape radial growth-climate relationships of broadleaved deciduous trees near their southern range edges.
