Opis:
The discourse involves a number of prominent thinkers who express their opinions in quality newspapers and magazines. The concept of Polish national character consists mainly of historical myths, and the dramatically transforming Russian character is to a great extent an absolute rejection of the Sowiet past and an equally approval of the Tsar period. In her analysis, the author identifies the characteristic features of both Polish and Russian national character. The issue can be perceived as a proof of seeking the national identity but also as some camouflage supposed to divert attention from real social problems.

Opis:
The article deals with the stereotypical ways in which game players are represented in various TV series whose characters are constructed on the basisof well-worn (and not necessarily authentic) patterns. As a result, one-dimensional motifs of games and players lead to unvarying representations which tend to be bipolar. The screenwriters seem to be convinced that the only function of video games is escapism. The TV series characters are, therefore, constructed on the basis of definite patterns limited to specific personality models ranging from the genius to the simpleton with a low IQ. The article exemplifies stereotypes of games and players. It argues that the monochromatic way of presenting the players results – among others – from the fact that producers and screenwriters are willing to favour the expectations of average viewers and attempt to mirror some universally-acknowledged convictions which are not true.

Opis:
The presented research concerns the functions and symbolism of the characters in "Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart" by John Amos Comenius. In this work, the characters are largely typified and are examples that serve the author’s in-depth spiritual reflection. The negative features of the heroes are often shown by Comenius in animal costumes. Symbolic associations with the world of fauna refer to the inner sphere of man and show his moral condition.

Opis:
Landscape is an area formed by the interactions between humans and nature, which bring various characteristics to the area. Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) methods enable more accurate description, mapping, and evaluation of features within the landscape. Also, landscape characterization and classification is facilitated by the advances of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which constitute a very efficient tool for analysis and overlay mapping. This paper explores and tests an application of Landscape Character Assessment (LCA) methodology at a regional scale in Ziban region, Algeria, combining natural and cultural attributes using GIS. The first stage of overlay of attributes is followed by the verification of draft map involving a visual assessment on-site in order to develop the final classification and assessment describing each landscape character area and type. The study results show that Ziban region has a rich structure with diversified landscapes created by unique natural and cultural landscape values composed of 36 different character areas and 19-character types. The main contribution of this research consists in developing a typology for Ziban landscape and providing useful results for decision-making related to the future management of landscape character in the Algerian context, which has undergone strong pressure related to urbanization, industry, transport, desertification, and tourism.

Opis:
The sport is considered one of the greatest social phenomena of the century. The society is facing a phenomenon that, like all social phenomena, is historically conditioned and culturally determined. The objective of this work is to demonstrate that the modern sport, plus all the benefits already known, can also affect decisively and warp human character. We tried to make a critical analysis on the subject today, having the Olympics as the main event analyzed. After the professionalization of the sport, this came to experience a real transformation with the establishment of a causal relationship between money and sports performance. If the genesis of the modern Olympic movement participation itself was a form of victory and coronation, at the beginning of the XXI century the prevailing pursuit of victory at any cost, even using illegal and unethical means, such as the use of doping. Thus the athlete who cannot win the first place and play the desired performance, often feels defeated. The consequences of the defeat are not sufficiently studied, which contributes to an attitude of denial about this situation on the part of members of the sports universe.

Aim. The aim of the research is to compare Konstantin Levin’s function in the film Anna Karenina(2012) by Joe Wright, the script written by Tom Stoppard and the novel Anna Kareninaby Leo Tolstoy and to determine how much his figure was changed in the film adaptation under the influence of the scriptwriter’s and director’s stance. Methods. The subjects of the study were the film Anna Karenina (2012) by Joe Wright, the script written by Tom Stoppard and the novel Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. They are analysed with the use of the theory of script writing, different types of character classifications and the text corpus analysis, taking into account the cultural, historical and economic features of scriptwriting and film production. Results. The analysis shows that Konstantin Levin’s function of the second protagonist that is characteristic for the novel is further developed in the screenplay but is omitted in the film. The discrepancies with the source book and the screenplay are caused by the influence of the film director during the film production. Conclusions. Even though the study considers the texts that are closely interrelated, the individual author’s stance influences the text of the screenplay so much that it gives us an opportunity to call Tom Stoppard, the scriptwriter, a writer in the full sense of the word.

Opis:
We continue an investigation into centered spaces, a generalization of dyadic spaces. The presence of large Cantor cubes in centered spaces is deduced from tightness considerations. It follows that for centered spaces X, πχ(X) = t(X), and if X has uncountable tightness, then t(X) = sup{κ : $2^κ$ ⊂ X}. The relationships between 9 popular cardinal functions for the class of centered spaces are justified. An example is constructed which shows, unlike the dyadic and polyadic properties, that the centered property is not preserved by passage to a zeroset.

In the paper we focus on the educational aspect of Walt Disney's book that is available at the Slovak book market. The attention is given not only to the literary-historical context of its origin and the current perception, but particularly to the educational potential which it could have, despite of its obscure artistic value. The educational dimension of the realization of a disabled literary character of bellman within the primary education will be presented on the chosen W. Disney's book (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame), coming from animated movie from Disney's workshop (and inspired by V. Hugo novel The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).
