Opis:: The analysis of the structure of floral nectaries of Rhododendron catawbiense Michx. was performed using stereoscopic, light and scanning electron microscopy. Nectaries were sampled at different development stages: closed bud, budburst and full bloom. The nectary gland exhibits clear ribbings corresponding to five small ribs of the ovary. In the top part of the gland, unicellular and multicellular non-glandular trichomes occur in great density. The upper surface of the nectary differs from its lateral surface by a stronger degree of cuticle development. Stomata are evenly distributed on the upper surface and in the higher regions of the lateral wall. The cuticle forms clear striae on the surface of stomatal cells. Stomata at different development stages were observed, as well as the beginning of nectar secretion which takes places already in the closed bud.
Analizy budowy nektarników kwiatowych Rhododendron catawbiense Michx. wykonano przy zastosowaniu mikroskopu: stereoskopowego, świetlnego i skaningowego elektronowego. Nektarniki pobierano w różnych fazach rozwoju: zamkniętego pąka, pękającego pąka i w pełni kwitnienia. Gruczoł nektarnikowy wykazuje wyraźne żebrowania odpowiadające pięciu niewielkim żebrom zalążni słupka. W szczytowej części gruczołu wyrastają jedno- i wielokomórkowe włoski mechaniczne występujące w dużym zagęszczeniu. Górna powierzchnia nektarnika różni się silniejszym stopniem rozwoju kutykuli od powierzchni bocznej. Aparaty szparkowe rozmieszczone są równomiernie na górnej powierzchni i w wyższych strefach bocznej ściany. Na powierzchni komórek szparkowych kutykula tworzy wyraźne prążki. Obserwowano aparaty szparkowe w różnych stadiach rozwoju oraz początek sekrecji nektaru, który odbywa się już w zamkniętym pąku.

Opis:: Changes in shoot length during development of two hybrid cultivars and one population cultivar of oilseed sunflower were compared in 3-year trials. Effects of cultivar, climatic factors, sowing density, and fertilization on plant height were analysed. In the conducted experiments, hybrid cultivars had higher shoots than cultivar ‘Wielkopolski’ since the first studied developmental stage (star stage). However, the large plant height does not have a positive effect on their agronomic value. Results of this study show that sunflowers were the highest in 1999 at all developmental stages, which resulted from more favourable weather conditions and soil type. The lowest final plant height was recorded when sunflowers were grown on brown-earth soil. This study confirms that increased sowing density caused a stronger elongation of shoots since the earliest developmental stages.
W pracy przedstawiono zmiany długosci pedów w różnych fazach ich rozwoju, jakie zaobserwowano podczas trzyletnich doswiadczeń porównawczych nad dwoma mieszancami liniowymi i odmiana populacyjna słonecznika oleistego. Badano wpływ na te ceche czynników klimatycznych, zmian gęstości siewu i dawek nawozu azotowego. Uzyskane wyniki poddano analizom statystycznym, określono także odziedziczalność wysokości roślin w różnych fazach rozwoju. W przeprowadzonym doswiadczeniu mieszance liniowe zaczynały dominowac wysokościa nad odmianą ‘Wielkopolski’ już przy pierwszym pomiarze długosci pędów w fazie gwiazdki. Stwierdzono jednak, że duża wysokość roślin nie wpływa korzystnie na wartość rolniczą tych odmian. Wyniki referowanych doświadczen wykazały, że obserwowany w 1999 roku najwyższy wzrost roślin, w różnych etapach ich rozwoju, był spowodowany najkorzystniejszymi dla tego procesu warunkami pogodowymi i rodzajem podłoża. Najmniejsza wysokość osiągneły łodygi słoneczników rosnących na glebach brunatnych. Rezultaty badań własnych dowodzą, że zwiększenie gęstości roślin, już od wczesnych faz rozwojowych, powodowało wydłużanie sie łodyg.

Opis:: Observations of major development stages and flowering of four French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars cultivated for green pods from six sowing dates (since mid of May till end of June) at weekly intervals were performed in 2003-2005. The study included the determination of the number of inflorescences per plant, number of flowers in inflorescence, length of inflorescence axis, and number of total and marketable pods per plant. French bean sown in the mid of May till the end of June showed the greatest variability with respect to the flowering start date and flowering period length as well as the number of pods set on a plant. French bean plants sown on different dates produced a similar number of inflorescences and flowers per bunch; 61.6-74.6 flowers per plant, on average. Weather conditions in July and August had the greatest influence on the flowering pattern and bean pod setting.
W latach 2003-2005 przeprowadzono obserwacje ważniejszych faz rozwojowych oraz przebieg kwitnienia czterech odmian fasoli szparagowej (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) uprawianej z sześciu terminów siewu (od połowy maja do końca czerwca) w odstępach tygodniowych. Określono: liczbę kwiatostanów na roślinie, liczbę kwiatów w kwiatostanie, długość osi kwiatostanowej oraz liczbę strąków ogółem i handlowych na roślinie. Fasola szparagowa z siewu od połowy maja do końca czerwca wykazywała największą zmienność pod względem terminów początku kwitnienia i długości fazy kwitnienia oraz liczby zawiązywanych na roślinie strąków. Rośliny fasoli szparagowej z różnych terminów uprawy wytwarzały zbliżoną liczbę kwiatostanów i kwiatów w gronie, średnio 61,6-74,6 kwiatów na roślinie. Największy wpływ na przebieg kwitnienia i zawiązywania strąków fasoli szparagowej miały warunki pogody w lipcu i sierpniu.

Opis:: This paper presents the structure of developmental stages and the age structure of Convallaria majalis L. populations. The investigation material consisted of individuals and modules from populations in Betulo-Quercetum, Fago-Quercetum, Melico-Fagetum and Tilio-Carpinetum, in which the leaves and inflorescence of C. majalis were cut annually over a period of three years. Fifty percent of the C. majalis regional population consisted of mature modules, 20% of juvenile modules, 25% of senile modules and a very small percentage of generative modules. In populations of Fago-Quercetum there are four times more senile modules than juvenile modules, while in Melico-Fagetum the percentage of juvenile modules is four times more numerous than the percentage of senile modules. The average age of modules is 4.7±3.8 years. Three year old individuals dominate in the population, while 10 year or older individuals are very rare. In the population disturbed by the three raw material collections, the percentage of juvenile modules was decreased by 50% and the percentage of generative modules was nonexistent. As a result, the average module age is higher than in the undisturbed population. Cutting leaves and inflorescence is an important factor in limiting the recruitment of juvenile modules. The growth of individuals in the disturbed population occurs among older modules, which were able to reproduce before the disturbance occurred. Young individuals (three to four years old) are less numerous in the disturbed population, and the majority of individuals are three to six years old.
