The paper discusses a theoretical and an experimental analyses of steel wire drawing in conical drawing dies with a varying length of the die sizing portion. The theoretical analysis was performed in the Drawing 2D, where the wire temperature and drawing stress were determined. The theoretical study was verified by the measurement of drawing force under laboratory conditions and by industrial multi-stage drawing tests carried out under commercial conditions. A relationship has been shown to exist between die sizing portion length and wire temperature and drawing stress.

In the statistical analysis it is sometimes necessary to determine sample size. It is not required if the results are not collected by means of statistical apparatus, and it serves only to present the observed phenomena or mileages. In the presented material some ways to determine sample size and sampling are given. Sampling from unknown and known set, drawing sample from strata, as well as multistage sample, systematic and in beams is characterized. Also comments on the costs of sampling and the proportions in the sample are presented.

The paper analyzes force parameters in the process of multistage drawing of steel wires in conventional and hydrodynamic dies. The drawing process of the wire rod with a diameter of 5.5 mm for wires with a diameter of 1.70 mm was performed in 12 drafts with the usage of the multistage drawbench Koch KGT with the speed range of 5-25 m/s. Modern software of multistage drawbenches allows direct reading of many parameters during the drawing process, including drawing power. The force and drawing stress in each drafts were determined relying on experimental measurements. A complement to the research was a theoretical analysis of the drawing process. The results of the theoretical studies were compared to those obtained by experiment. The significant impact of the drawing speed on the force parameters of the drawing process in conventional and hydrodynamic dies was demonstrated. Depending on the real conditions of the drawing, ie. temperature, friction and lubrication, enhancing the drawing speed can result in both an increase and a decrease in drawing stress.

Most of wire drawing processes is performed at room temperature, causing rising up the heat due to the plastic deformation and the generated friction at the work piece-tool interface. In the poor lubrication conditions, there is a likelihood that both the die and the drawn wire will be damaged. This is because the drawing load is greatly influenced by tool geometry and lubrication conditions, The research work conducted in this paper focuses on drawing of 3 mm diameter Electrolytic tough pitch (ETP) cooper wire to perform 20% reduction in cross sectional area through a conical die. Various parameters have been tested to study the effect of them on the forming load during wire drawing including die angle (4°,6°,8°), bearing distance (1.2, 1.5, 1.8) mm, and lubricant types (Lithium-based greases, soap powder, oil HP). The first phase of this paper is conducted to estimate the coefficient of friction for each lubricant type, Utilizing the experimental values of drawing force in theoretical formals. Based on the estimated values obtained, the second phase was creating numerical model to extend the work to more parameters level as well as check the results validation. The results demonstrated that the drawing force increases with increasing of bearing distance and friction coefficient.

W artykule poruszono zagadnienia związane z procesem kształcenia w zakresie rysunku odręcznego na kierunku architektura wnętrz na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Śląskiej. Przedstawiono program kształcenia w przeciągu całego cyklu studiów. Zawarto refleksje dotyczące zarówno konieczności przygotowania studentów w tym zakresie, jak i przełożenia treści zapisanych w programie na warsztat zawodowy przyszłych architektów. Głównym celem pracy jest określenie, w jaki sposób proces nauczania rysunku odręcznego rozwija umiejętności plastyczne – narzędzie umożliwiające przedstawienie własnej koncepcji projektowej przyszłym inwestorom. W jego realizacji wykorzystano obserwację uczestniczącą, analizę prac studenckich, analizę prac realizacyjnych. Omówione badania doprowadziły do konkluzji o istnieniu konieczności zintensyfikowania zadań z rysunku architektonicznego.
The paper deals with issues connected with the process of teaching in the field of hand-drawing at the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in the field of Interior Architecture. It presents briefly the program of study throughout the whole cycle of studies. It includes reflections on both: the need to educate students in this field and the translation of the content of the curriculum into the professional workshop of future architects. The main objective is to determine how the hand-drawing teaching process develops visual arts as a tool for presenting own design concept to future investors. The implementation of the paper uses participant observation, analysis of students’ work, analysis of work execution. The research carried out leads to the conclusion about the need to intensify the tasks of regular architectural drawing.

Forecasting the durability of tools for various technological processes, determining the dominant destructive mechanisms or their impact on the "life time" of the tool is very important. In the paper presents the research on tools wear of different geometric parameters in selected plastic working processes were presented. Numerical calculations of the tool wear in the process of forward extrusion and drawing were carried out using the MSC MARC program, based on the Finite Element Method. In order to determine the amount of wear of dies and drawing dies, the Archard model was applied. The model was implemented in the FEM-based program. As a result of the research, the areas on the surface of tools, which are particularly exposed to significant wear were determined, depending on their geometry.

A new approach to solving the problem of the sheet-flange corrugation in the process of forming cylindrical sheet-metal elements is presented. A brief characteristic of the dynamic central-difference method is given. Technological parameters of a forming disk, a die block and a plunger die have been selected from references. Sample results of computer simulations with stress distributions in a disk are presented and serve as the basis for discussing the process of sheet metal forming.

Drawing is for a child a form of play and a way of free expression. At the same time, it is an opportunity to develop imagination, creativity, and knowledge about the surrounding world. For psychologists and therapists, a child’s drawing, as part of the projection methods used, is a source of knowledge about its emotions, personality, and situation. Also, the marketing specialists make use of projection techniques, including projection drawings, for instance, to study the behaviors of youngest consumers. The article aims to present the way of using the projection method, such as a drawing analysis during the educational workshops and for qualitative research conducted among the youngest. In the first part of the article, the subject literature on projection techniques, in particular on a drawing analysis is reviewed. In the further part, the stages of a child’s drawing development along with their characteristics are presented. The last section illustrates the proposals for the use of a projection drawing as part of the workshop work with children and an example of such activities are given. It should be emphasized that the use of projection methods requires educators to possess knowledge, sensitivity, and caution in the interpretation. Children’s drawings differ concerning their artistic talents, age, stage of development and symbols used. The proper understanding of the last sphere is a very complex process.
