Opis:: With the rapid development of the marine economy and continuous improvement of the industry, the scale of the offshore engineering is increasing. This raises interest in studying, theoretically and experimentally, gripping and bearing mechanisms for large-scale holding and lifting tools used in foundation pile installations. In this paper, the embedded gripping mechanism is studied based on the theory of elastic-plastic mechanics. The embedded and bearing performance of the tooth is simulated and the influence factors are studied. In addition, the device used in the simplified embedded experiment on the tooth of the embedded block is designed. The relationship between embedded depth, load, and tooth profile angle is identified and validated. Meanwhile, the embedded performance of linear and ring type teeth is compared experimentally in order to select the suitable type of tooth for various situations. This comparison makes the basis for designing an upending gripper for the marine pile foundation, which can realize the operation of holding the pile to prevent its falling.

Opis:: W artykule zaprezentowano implementację systemu automatycznej aktualizacji danych w urządzeniach embedded z mikrokontrolerem jednoukładowym. Przeanalizowano mechanizmy i protokoły stosowane w istniejących rozwiązaniach pracujących pod kontrolą systemów operacyjnych. Zaproponowano niezbędne optymalizacje, pozwalające na implementacje mechanizmu aktualizacji w systemach z ograniczonymi zasobami pamięci. Opisano implementacje wybranych wariantów zaproponowanych rozwiązań w mikrokontrolerze z rdzeniem Cortex. W pracy zwrócono również uwagę na aspekt zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa mechanizmów aktualizacji automatycznej zarówno pod kątem nieautoryzowanego dostępu, jak też odporności na awarię sieci komunikacyjnej.
In this article implementation of a system of automatic software updates on embedded device with a single-chip microcontroller was presented. Mechanisms and protocols used in existing solutions working under control of operating systems was analyzed. Necessary optimizations were suggested that allow for implementation of an update mechanism in systems with limited memory resources. Implementations of chosen variants of proposed solutions in the microcontroller with Cortex core were described. Furthermore, this work also emphasizes a question of providing security of automatic software updates, with regard to unauthorized access, as well as resistance to failure of communication network.

Opis:: In this paper, the authors present selected examples of rapid prototyping environment consisting of a popular hardware platform like Arduino and software tools, like graphical language LabView. As a case study the MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) applications are described. First, the initial requirements regarding software and hardware are introduced. Next, some basic configuration procedures are presented. The main application example is a MEMS sensor data acquisition system. It shows the possibility of using LabView and non-dedicated hardware with a large number of Arduino compatible modules. The communication between Arduino and LabView is realized by a serial wire connection. Further examples show wireless communication with Arduino using Bluetooth link. The presented applications are very common in the embedded system environment and their implementation can be done with minimal effort on creating software code.

Opis:: Nowadays, the design of industrial vehicles and movable cars is based on the automation of their different tasks, which are currently handled by humans. These tasks, such as maneuvering robots in complex environments, require high level of precision that cannot be guaranteed by humans. Manual operations are likely to produce errors of computation and optimization of navigation and manoeuvre (left, right, veering…). In this paper, a novel prototype of a well-structured robot for intelligent navigation and parallel parking applications is presented. The robot have two axels, the front one is composed of two wheels that are manoeuvred by a stepper motor, and a pinion rack system for controlling the rotation of the wheels, and also the orientation of the robot. The driving wheels are mounted in the rear axle of the robot and are commanded by two DC motors. The design allows modification of the robot structural components whenever required. In addition to the mechanical components, the prototype is equipped with a DC power supply, three infra-red sensors, one ultrasound sensor, and control modules composed of an FPGA card, microcontroller card and two cards which are responsible for commanding actuators. The parameters of the mechanical and electronics components are optimised to perform multiple tasks for training and instruction applications. A mathematical model that describes the dynamics of the robot prototype is also developed. Simulation, experimental and theoretical investigations were carried out consisting in navigation and parallel parking manoeuvres. It was confirmed that the experimental and theoretical results agree well in both applications.

Opis:: The study demonstrates that the definition and meaning of education, and by extension of educational inequality, are embedded in countries’ historical, political and social environments, while also responding to exogenous changes and international trends. We comparatively discuss the experience of 4 countries (Norway, Finland, Lithuania and Hungary) in order to unpack the historical underpinnings of the way education is framed in policy documents. Building on that, we review the effects of neoliberal ideas with their universalist dogma that have affected policy making in all cases, and assess to what extent the meaning of education was decoupled from its historical framework. Our findings are relevant for understanding not only the process of policy change, but in particular how the meaning of concepts within educational policy change over time. We suggest that embedded concepts carry meaning that has evolved over time and became strongly entangled with the country’s history and culture, while prevailing ideologies (neoliberalism and in the case of Hungary that of neoconservatism) also generate considerable effects on education policies.

Opis:: Functional programming is the most popular declarative style of programming. Its lack of state leads to an increase of programmers' productivity and software robustness. Clojure is a very effective Lisp dialect, but it misses a solid embedded database implementation. A store is a proposed embedded database engine for Clojure that helps to deal with the problem of the inevitable state by mostly functional, minimalistic interface, abandoning SQL and tight integration with Clojure as a sole query and data-processing language.

Opis:: An example of knowledge transfer from academic research to industry was presented in the paper. IT Integration Platform called TechLink Bridge based on the three pillars of innovation was introduced. TechLink Bridge system as the result of cooperation of the Poznan University of Technology and Emtel System company was designed as the answer for the market demands. A spatial structure of the proposed main board in terms of external wire and wireless interfaces was shown. The software structure and its particular characteristics as the description of selected communication protocols were introduced. The influence of the development of critical information management to the functionality of the platform was described as the flexibility to manage the information flow was. The future development of TechLink Bridge was presented in the end.

Opis:: Let G be a cellular embedding of a multigraph in a 2-manifold. Two distinct edges e1, e2 ∈ E(G) are facially adjacent if they are consecutive on a facial walk of a face f ∈ F(G). An incidence of the multigraph G is a pair (v, e), where v ∈ V (G), e ∈ E(G) and v is incident with e in G. Two distinct incidences (v1, e1) and (v2, e2) of G are facially adjacent if either e1 = e2 or e1, e2 are facially adjacent and either v1 = v2 or v1 ≠ v2 and there is i ∈ {1, 2} such that ei is incident with both v1, v2. A facial incidence coloring of G assigns a color to each incidence of G in such a way that facially adjacent incidences get distinct colors. In this note we show that any embedded multigraph has a facial incidence coloring with seven colors. This bound is improved to six for several wide families of plane graphs and to four for plane triangulations.

Opis:: W pracy przedstawiono koncepcję zintegrowanego, cyfrowego odbiornika spektrometru EPR (elektronowego rezonansu paramagnetycznego), przeznaczoną do realizacji w technologii SoC na platformie Virtex-II Pro. Krótko opisano środowisko eksperymentu EPR, skupiając się na interesujących aspektach projektu, m.in. wykorzystaniu wbudowanego procesora. Zaprezentowano budowę całego systemu przetwarzania danych, składającego się z: interfejsu szybkiego przetwornika analogowo-cyfrowego, jednostki wstępnego przetwarzania (akumulacji) danych oraz wbudowanego procesora PowerPC 405, realizującego końcową obróbkę danych. Omówiono interesujące szczegóły konstrukcyjne interfejsu przetwornika, strukturę bloku wstępnej akumulacji danych, blok sterownika oraz podsystem sygnałów zegarowych. Przedstawiono także architekturę nadrzędnego systemu procesorowego, opartego na mikroprocesorze PowerPC. Opisano metodologię i wykorzystane narzędzia projektowe, jak również sposób weryfikacji układu i wyniki testów.
The paper describes a design of an integrated digital receiver for the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance spectrometer. The design, based on a SoC technology, utilizes the PowerPC processor embedded in the Virtex-II Pro FPGA. Description shortly introduces an experimental environment (Fig. 1), focusing on interesting FPGA design issues. Two concepts of the device are presented. The first one was developed with the use of DSP (Fig. 2), and another includes an embedded microprocessor (Fig. 3). The design of FPGA includes a digital interface for fast, 800Msps analog-to-digital converter. Another important part of the design is a digital signal preprocessing unit, allowing fast, multiple data accumulation for separation weak signals from the noise. There are also given some details on construction of dual-ported accumulation buffers, accumulation controller and clocking system. Additionally the unit provides some means to control the remaining part of a measurement device as well as the pulse stimulation generator.
