Opis:: The aim of this study is to present the selected findings of a research into the cooperation of The News Agency of the Slovak Republic with individual types of schools in the Slovak Republic, as well as to create a systematic overview of the current state and trends in this area. We have decided to examine the topic and illustrate its relation to individual types of schools in Slovakia as, within the conditions of the Slovak Republic, it still remains an unexplored area. This is one of the first comprehensive research tasks in Slovakia, which attempts to answer the questions concerning press agencies and schools within the context of media literacy development. The aim of this study is to analyze the cooperation of The News Agency of the Slovak Republic with individual types of school in Slovakia over the period of 2012-2016. We focus on the quantitative and qualitative analyses of secondary data created in the reviewed period within the framework of this cooperation. The second aim of the study is to present the results of research carried out at primary and elementary schools, the aim of which was to find out about the ways educational institutions utilize the services of the press agency within the concept of learning-by-doing when teaching media education. The research sample consisted of 2,164 elementary schools and 794 secondary schools from all regions of the Slovak Republic. We addressed these schools with an 11-item questionnaire examining the quantitative and qualitative aspects of cooperation with the public service News Agency of the Slovak Republic. At the same time, we analyzed the data created within this cooperation over the years 2012-2016. The news service provided by The News Agency of the Slovak Republic represents a tool used at Slovak primary schools, especially in the preparation of school media, as well as at teaching media education and other subjects. Nevertheless, the intensity of its use is undersized and there are still quite a number of schools that do not use this valuable service in their educational activities at all.

Opis:: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The future of financial economics development belongs to the capital market solutions – an alternative source of effective financing. The purpose of the article is an attempt to make a glance for teaching experience based on new financial pedagogy, factual on learning by doing and simulating – active decision making in the process of choice the financial instruments from capital market solutions. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The world of stock exchanges is dominated by 16 major players, whose total market capitalization exceeding USD 1 trillion in which the United States represents 40.01% of the global market capitalization. All recognizable brands, such as: Apple, Google, Intel, Microsoft or FaceBook are listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. Looking for a suitable example that would allow students to be creatively involved in learning through new financial pedagogy, the FaceBook were choose. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: Facebook is a reliable – in terms of capitalization and market value – listed company, which is also a global leader in social networks. Two-minute real calls were used to show the opportunities and threats arising from stock market investments. The received effects of students’ inference were compared with the knowledge they acquired after using traditional teaching materials. RESEARCH RESULTS: Authors present in the article mechanisms functioning on the capital market and the inference process, enabling profitable decisions to be made a few days before the expiry date of the option, as well as the limitations resulting from the use by students’ traditional textbooks and the knowledge transferred through them. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The study covered the results of efficiency and the ability to avoid inhibiting the development of student learning in the field of capital market instruments through direct action and involvement them in decision making processes.

Opis:: The pandemic compelled many individuals, initially hesitant about online shopping, to overcome their reservations, acquire essential skills, and transition to online retail. This provided a natural experiment to assess whether the barriers to online shopping and the comfort of traditional in-store habits have hindered a broader shift to e-commerce. This paper uses the US retail data to analyze e-commerce activities before, during, and after the pandemic to determine whether the pandemic has permanently altered the pattern of the activities to determine whether the pandemic has permanently altered the pattern of the activities by utilizing structural break detection tools. Additionally, we carry out a forecasting exercise for post-pandemic based on pre-pandemic data to confirm our findings. Results suggest that while e-commerce activities surged during lockdown, they have predominantly reverted to pre-pandemic patterns. Our findings caution both investors and companies against overreaction in the face of exuberant changes in the market to avoid painful corrections afterward.

Opis:: In the context of sustainable development, aid, and their intersection in project planning, management, and implementation, the author seeks to share his experience, lessons learned, and thoughts on the recent history of sustainability, and the current state of sustainable developmental policy implementation in the development assistance field. These findings are based on his three years of experience working on the front lines of a grassroots focused development organization in Zambia, where he learned five core principles that are necessary for a clear understanding of processes which affect sustainable development implementation. The paper finds that a macro framework from the political and social actors at the national and supranational level, combined with comprehensive project design, contextualization, stronger monitoring, reporting, and evaluation mechanisms are necessary, and that emerging technologies may hold part of the answer. It also calls to attention the challenge that long term vs. short term planning cycles pose to sustainability.

Opis:: Secondary school magazines have long been part of the educational process at educational institutions. The present study examines the status of secondary school magazines within the contexts of grammar and vocational secondary schools in Slovakia. It obtains relevant results using a semantic differential method addressed to the editors-in-chief of individual school magazines.There are 16 magazines in total. The object of the study is to find out the degree of autonomy given to the editors- in-chief, the organizational and managerial processes of running the journal, and the means of creating continuity for these activities within the environment of secondary vocational schools and grammar schools. After obtaining the answers from the scaled test, we arrive atthe results through statistical operations and a calculated index that describes the status of each selected aspect. The factors we examine are an important part of the editorial office functioning. To avoid problems, school journal programs attempt to ensure continuity and to train future students in this work. We see the degree of autonomy and the intervention of the educator in the production as an essential part of the concept of learning- by-doing. At the same time, this balance of autonomy and intervention provides smoother organization, management, and continuity, specifically as an educational activity inthe field of media education.
Czasopisma licealne od dawna są częścią procesu edukacyjnego w placówkach kształcących dzieci. W niniejszym opracowaniu przeanalizowano status czasopism szkół średnich w liceach i szkołach zawodowych na Słowacji. Wykorzystano metodę dyferencjału semantycznego skierowaną do redaktorów naczelnych poszczególnych czasopism szkolnych w celu uzyskania odpowiednich wyników– w sumie jest ich 16. Przedmiotem badań jest poznanie stopnia samodzielności, aspektów organizacyjnych i zarządczych działalności oraz ciągłości działalności czasopisma w środowisku średnich szkół zawodowych i liceów ogólnokształcących. Po uzyskaniu odpowiedzi z testu skalowanego dochodzimy do wyników za pomocą operacji statystycznych i obliczonego wskaźnika opisującego stan każdego wybranego aspektu. To właśnie powyższe rzeczy są ważnym elementem funkcjonowania redakcji jako takiej i mogą powodować problemy w jej funkcjonowaniu, ponieważ częstą bolączką czasopism szkolnych jest właśnie zapewnienie ciągłości i wyszkolenie następców w tej pracy. Postrzegamy stopień autonomii i interwencję edukatora w produkcję jako istotną część pracy w koncepcji uczenia się przez działanie, ale również zapewnienie sprawnej organizacji i aspektów zarządzania jako elementarną część dla kontynuacji tej działalności edukacyjnej w zakresie edukacji medialnej.

Opis:: GeoDesign to zestaw technik i technologii, które pozwalają na połączenie analiz geograficznych z procesem projektowania. Ma on charakter interdyscyplinarny i służy do tworzenia projektów zarówno o charakterze przyrodniczym, jak i społeczno-kulturowym, na bazie których możliwe jest podejmowanie jak najbardziej racjonalnych decyzji. W ramach tworzenia zrównoważonego kampusu, a jednocześnie w odpowiedzi na panujące trendy w planowaniu przestrzeni do edukacji i komunikowania wartości szkolnictwa wyższego, zostanie zaprezentowana koncepcja utworzenia laboratorium geodesignu. Jest ono projektowane na potrzeby społeczności Instytutu Geografii i Gospodarki Przestrzennej Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego i szerzej – Wydziału Geografii i Geologii naszej Uczelni. Badania naukowe potwierdzają efektywność przestrzeni zorganizowanej tak, aby pobudzała kreatywność, zachęcała do pracy zespołowej, dawała możliwość zastosowania metod z zakresu geodesign, design thinking i learning by doing. Tworzenie przestrzeni do działań projektowych jest zauważalnym trendem na współczesnych uniwersytetach. W publikacji zaprezentowano kilka przykładów przestrzeni o podobnej funkcji z Polski i z zagranicy. W ostatniej części artykułu przedstawiono propozycję wyglądu i sposobu funkcjonowania projektowanej przestrzeni do pracy kreatywnej.
GeoDesign is a set of techniques and technologies allowing to combine geographic analysis with the design process. It has an interdisciplinary character and is used to create projects of both natural and socio-cultural nature, on the basis of which it is possible to make the most rational decisions. As part of creating a sustainable Campus of the 600th Anniversary of the Jagiellonian University Revival, and at the same time in response to the prevailing trends in planning space for education and communicating the values of higher education, a concept of creating a geodesign laboratory will be presented. It is designed for the community of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and, more broadly, for the Faculty of Geography and Geology of our University. Scientific research confirms the effectiveness of space organized so as to stimulate creativity, encourage teamwork, and give an opportunity to apply methods in the field of geodesign, design thinking and learning by doing. Creating space for design activities is a noticeable trend at modern universities. The publication presents several examples of spaces with a similar function from Poland and abroad. The last part of the article presents a proposal of the appearance and functioning of the designed space for creative work.

Opis:: Článek přináší informace a zkušenosti s projektovou výukou mediální výchovy studentů katedry informačních a komunikačních technologií Pedagogické fakulty Ostravské univerzity (dále katedra ICT), tedy budoucích učitelů na základních a středních školách. Tato výuková metoda, při které studenti realizují projekt vlastních novin, se velmi osvědčila, protože vlastní tvůrčí a produkční činnost (learning by doing) je velmi účinná při posilování motivace, dlouhodobém zapamatování znalostí a získávání dovedností. Mediální výchova v tomto pojetí je na katedře ICT zaměřena prakticky. V jednotlivých částech studenti získávají přehled o základech žurnalistiky, digitální fotografie, zvuku a videa. Rozvoj mediální gramotnosti u studentů oboru Informační technologie ve vzdělávání má rovněž pozitivní vliv na posilování jejich informačních kompetencí.
The article presents information and experience with media education project teaching students of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Pedagogical Faculty of Ostrava University (Department of ICT), that future teachers in primary and secondary schools. This teaching method in which students carry out a project of its own newspaper, proved very useful, because the creative and production activities (learning by doing) is very effective in enhancing motivation, long-term memorization of knowledge and skills. Media education in this concept is the Department of ICT focused practice. In the individual chapters, students gain an overview of the basics of journalism, digital photos, audio and video. Developing media literacy among students majoring in Information Technology in Education also has a positive effect on strengthening their information skills.

Opis:: Partycypacja obywatelska przynosi wymierne korzyści demokracjom i ich obywatelom. Szkoły jako główny podmiot socjalizacji politycznej rzadko uczą zaangażowania obywatelskiego. Zamiast tego koncentrują się na przekazywaniu wiedzy o instytucjach i procesach demokratycznych. Kluczem do zaangażowania obywateli w życie społeczno-polityczne jest uczenie się demokracji przez jej doświadczanie. Ten aktywny model edukacji obywatelskiej wychodzi poza ramy tradycyjnego nauczania – jest osadzony w nurcie edukacji nieformalnej. Niniejszy artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie efektów nieformalnego kształcenia obywatelskiego – programu „Młodzi Głosują+”, angażującego uczniów w wieku 14–19 lat w organizację kampanii profrekwencyjnej i młodzieżowych wyborów prezydenckich. Chcąc odpowiedzieć na pytanie, w jakim stopniu aktywne zaangażowanie w procesy demokratyczne przyczynia się do wzmocnienia kompetencji obywatelskich i społecznych, zastosowano ilościową metodę badawczą (ankieta ewaluacyjna pretest i posttest). Wyniki badań sugerują, że praktyka w zakresie działań obywatelskich ma duży potencjał rozwijania kompetencji demokratycznych młodzieży.
Civic participation brings tangible benefits to democracies and their citizens. Schools, as the main actor of political socialization, rarely teach civic engagement. Instead, they focus on providing knowledge of democratic institutions and processes. Learning democracy through experiencing is crucial in shaping the citizens involved in socio-political life. This active civic education model goes beyond traditional teaching – it is embedded in the informal education stream. This article aims to present the effects of informal civic education using the “Youth Vote+” program involving students aged 14–19 in organizing a pro-voting campaign and youth presidential elections. In order to answer the question of the extent to which active involvement in democratic processes contributes to strengthening civic and social competences, a quantitative research method (pretest and posttest evaluation questionnaire) was used. Research suggests that practical experience in civic activities has excellent potential to develop democratic competences of young people.

Opis:: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie problematyki nauczania języka polskiego w klasie szkolnej, w której co najmniej jeden z uczniów posługuje się językiem polskim jako drugim. Badacze zajmujący się omawianą kwestią sugerują konieczność opracowania materiałów do nauczania języka polskiego dla wszystkich etapów edukacyjnych. Niniejszy artykuł podejmuje to zagadnienie, a także stanowi wstęp do szerszych badań mających na celu opracowanie warsztatu pracy nauczyciela polonisty nauczającego w klasie, w której znajdują się uczniowie z doświadczeniem migracyjnym. Podstawowe pytanie, jakie przyświeca podjętym tu rozważaniom, odnosi się do efektywności nauczania: jak uczyć i jakie działania edukacyjne podejmować, by zaangażować w proces nauczania zarówno uczniów, dla których język polski jest językiem pierwszym, jak i uczniów, dla których jest to język drugi? W tekście przedstawiono metody nauczania stosowane w edukacji międzynarodowej oraz propozycje ich adaptacji na lekcjach języka polskiego w klasach wielokulturowych.
The purpose of this article is to present the issue of teaching Polish in a school class in which at least one student uses Polish as a second language. Researchers dealing with this issue suggest the need to develop materials for teaching Polish as a second language for all educational stages. This article addresses this issue and also provides an introduction to wider research aimed at developing a workshop for a Polish teacher who teaches in a classroom with students with migration experience. The basic question that guides the considerations here relates to the effectiveness of teaching: how to teach and what educational activities to use to engage in the teaching process for both of the groups of students: for whom Polish is the first language and for whom it is a second language? The text presents teaching methods used in international education and suggestions for their adaptation in Polish language lessons in multicultural classes.
