Opis:
A method of using the electric charge in a capacitor was applied for the manufacture of thermocouple micro-joints. The motivation for the study was the need to produce a stable welded connection without affecting the geometry of the substrate, which was a thin sheet of Inconel 625 alloy (UNS designation N06625). Within the framework of the research work, a suitable workstation for micro-joints elaboration was built and welding experiments were performed using different electric charges. Studies carried out within the framework of the present work have shown that joints based on Inconel 625 alloy and platinum have the best application properties in the range of small-scale temperature measurements. They can be used, e.g., for monitoring the temperature distribution on the inner surfaces of electric motor casings. An undeniable advantage is in this case the high thermal resistance of both materials used to produce the joint, i.e. the Inconel 625 alloy and platinum. This allows them to be used at high temperatures under atmospheric conditions.

Opis:
Tests were carried out on samples of low-alloy ductile iron with additions of Ni, Cu and Mo, subjected to austempering heat treatment. The samples were austenitized at 850, 900 and 950 °C, and then austempered at T = 210, 240, 270, 300 and 330 °C. The ausferritizing treatment was carried out in a salt bath for the time τ = 2 - 8 hours. Additionally, tests and studies covered samples subjected to the ausferritizing treatment at 270 °C with the time of holding castings in a bath from 2 to 24 hours. Evaluation covered the results of the ADI microstructure examinations and hardness measurements. The ADI matrix morphology was identified counting the average number of ausferrite plates and measuring their width and spacing. The regression equations HB = f (τ, T) and τ = f (HB, T) were derived to establish the, so-called, “process window”, allowing obtaining a priori the required microstructure of ADI and, consequently, the required mechanical properties, mainly hardness, shaping the functional properties of castings, abrasion wear resistance – in particular.

Opis:
AISI 1045 steel has the characteristics of high strain rate, large strain, and sharp rise in temperature during high-speed deformation process, resulting in a concentrated deformation band and fine structure. In this work, the microstructure of submicron-sized grains in AISI 1045 steel material formed under 106 s-1 during a high speed cutting process was examined. To reveal the dynamic evolution mechanism of the AISI 1045 microstructure, the continuous dynamic recrystallization theory was introduced. The results show a high dislocation density which favor the formation of small angle grain boundaries during the high speed cutting process. Kinetics calculations that use continuous dynamic recrystallization mechanisms prove that the recrystallization size is constant when the strain rate increases from 103 s-1 to 106 s-1, and the transition time is reduced from 6×10-5 s to 4×10-8 s. The recrystallization grains were gradually formed during the deformation of the material, not generated after the deformation.

The contribution outlines a general modelling method leading from the general equations of thin shells with locally periodic structure to the averaged equations with slowly varying coefficents. The proposed model describes the effects of periodicity cell size on the overall shell response and hence can be applied to the dispersive analysis in dynamic problems.

Opis:
Alloyed silver-gold nanoparticles recently raised an interest in biomedicine as potential antibacterial and surface-functionalized agents for imaging, drugdelivery, and tumor thermo-therapy [1,2]. The here synthesized alloyed AgAu nanoparticles with different compositions of silver and gold, as determined by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), were prepared by reduction with citrate and tannic acid in aqueous media and subsequently functionalized by the addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) [3]. UV spectroscopy confirmed that the particles consisted of alloyed Ag:Au and are not of a separate core-shell structure. The resulting nanoparticles were monodisperse and had a uniform size of ~6 nm, except pure Ag and Ag:Au-90:10, as shown by differential centrifugal sedimentation (DCS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). By means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and use of Rietveld refinement [4], the precise lattice parameters, crystallite size and microstrain were determined. Based on the results by XRD, DCS and TEM it was shown, that the nanoparticles were not twinned, except pure Ag and Ag:Au-90:10. Additionally, a distinct deviation from Vegard’s linear rule of alloy mixtures for the lattice parameter was found for the nanoparticles. This effect was also found for AgAu bulk materials, but was much more pronounced in the nanostate. Further investigations of the crystal structure of the alloyed nanoparticles by means of synchrotron radiation might be helpful to gain more information about the interactions of silver and gold atoms.

Opis:
The subject of the research in this work was the S49 rail made of R260 rail steel (1.0623). The carried out investigations concern microstructure tests and tests of mechanical properties of rails after several years of exposure in the open air without usage. The purpose of the work was to determine on the basis of the results of research the possibilities of using the tested rail for usage and application for the construction of tracks on railway sidings. For investigations there were used diverse techniques reaching such engineering materials investigations like light or scanning electron microscope for microstructure investigations, as well as hardness and microhardness test were performed for determinations of the microstructural changes occurred in the upper area of the rails surface. The microstructure changes concerns especially the ferritic and pearlitic structure and the breaks in the present carbide mesh. During investigations it was found out that the tested railway rails are fully useful for application, after machining to achieve required dimensional parameters. It is also of high importance, of the economical point of view, that their price, also in case of earlier installation of the rails, may be lower than the current price offered on the marked for a entire new product. The price difference reaches dimensions in the range of 5% - 10%.

Opis:
In this study, Strontium Bismuth Niobate (SrBi2-xTmxNb2O9 with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1) doped by Tm was synthesized using by the hydrothermal method. The microstructure and electrical properties were mainly investigated. XRD analysis showed a single-phase orthorhombic structure for Tm-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 samples. The crystallite size is anisotropic and the strain is apparently independent of Tm amount. Dielectric properties for doped SrBi2Nb2O9 with Tm3+ ion have the same trend discussed for the pure sample. FTIR resulats showed that NbO6 octahedral is formed, on one hand, and on the other hand, it shows that spectras for doped and undoped samples are nearly the same. The Cross-section of ceramics showed the plate-like morphology, also the distribution of the pore in ceramics are observed for all samples. Tm dopants produce only minor changes in the impendence parameter values at room temperature. The luminescent (PL) properties of Tm-doped SrBi2Nb2O9 ceramic powders were investigated. The optimum Tm3+ concentration for the maximum PL intensity was found to be at x = 0.075.

Opis:
At the end of the 20th century, the term discourse, which was justified by European linguists, gained relevance in modern linguistics and gave rise to wider research. The ideas about the discourse in the scientific literature have given impetus to each other and facilitated a wider analysis of this term. In Azerbaijani linguistics, this topic is considered a younger field of science. From this point of view, we decided to conduct research in the mentioned direction. In the article, the types of discourse from the point of view of both structure and functionality, and the problems of its comparison with the text are considered.

Opis:
In the work, the microstructure and selected properties of aluminium and its alloys (AlCu4Zr0.5, AlMg5, AlZn6Mg2.5CuZr) deformed with high strain rate were investigated. The cylindrical samples were compressed by a falling - weight-type impact-testing machine at the strain rate ranging from 1.77-6.06x102 s-1 in order to attain true strains between Φ = 0 - 0.62. After compression, the microhardness of the samples was tested and the microstructure was examined by means of both optical (LM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Additionally the misorientation of selected microstructural elements using proprietary KILIN software was determined. The large density of shear bands, bands and microbands was the characteristic feature of the microstructure. The statistical width of the microbands observed in the microstructure was calculated using the mean chord method. The obtained data demonstrate reduction of the microbands width with the increase of deformation. The main object of investigations concerns the microstructure elements refinement affected by dynamic compression.

Opis:
Wires used for orthodontic arches play a very important role in the process of orthodontic treatment. In combination with the lock attached to the tooth, they move and align the teeth along the set trajectories. Wires of stainless steel are commonly used in orthodontics for several reasons: they are characterised by high resistance to corrosion, high strength and elasticity, formability and a possibility of obtaining defined properties through cold working and annealing during production process. The purpose of the research presented in the work is the analysis of differences of the selected structural properties in the context of corrosion resistance of the orthodontic wire material. The object of the research was edge arches of the 0.016”x0.022” size made of the stainless steel type AISI 304, provided by two different producers: G&H Orthodontics and Adenta. The research methodology involved analysis of chemical and phase composition of the tested alloy, microscopic tests with application of the light and electron microscopy methods, as well as electrochemical direct current measurements. The research presented in the work has shown significant differences in structural and physical-chemical properties of the orthodontic wires made of AISI 304 type stainless steel. Despite the fact, that the tested arches were manufactured of the theoretically the same materials, but by different producers, they significantly differ in chemical composition, metallurgical purity, phase composition and corrosion resistance. In addition, it is worth noticing that the tested materials, in terms of structure, do not meet the normative requirements obligatory for biomaterials.
