Opis:
The processes of socio-economic development take place at the different-scale spatial systems within the geographical space (from the local through the national to the global level). The geographical space covers a diverse natural space, various potential of the socio-economic and cultural space, as well as active and passive relations that occur between their elements. One of the important parts of the socio-economic space is the spatial structure of industry whose fundamental element is an industrial enterprise. The theme of this discussion is the issue of the behaviour of an industrial enterprise in the spatial structure of industry in the light of Polish research in the field of industrial geography. Specific attention will be paid to the development and functions of industrial enterprise in the spatial structure of industry.

Opis:
A key driving force and determinant of a country’s worth in the globalized world is inherent in its level of industrialization. Certainly, other dimensions are crucial and come into play, however, the infamous classification of nations into industrialized and non-industrialized has added substantial merit to the concept. Essentially, industrialization in Ghana was based on the premise of the production and processing of its vast natural resources from traditionally primary products to tertiary and finished goods. While the industry can boast of employment generation and a model of economic growth in the 1960s and 1970s, inadequate implementation of industrial policies has resulted in the consistent contraction of the manufacturing subsector. Manufacturing sector contribution to GDP declined from 36.69% in 2000 to 6.7% in 2012 and therefore is considered the weakest link in Ghana’s industrial drive. This paper examines the growth, spatial structure, and distribution of manufacturing industries in the Greater Accra region using districts as the unit of analysis. The Greater Accra region has traditionally been the focal point of Ghana’s industrial development accounting for 23.4% of all manufacturing establishment as of 2015, most of which are concentrated in the Accra and Tema Metropolitan areas due to obvious political, socioeconomic and mobility factors. Examining historical data from 1962–2010, we found that despite the overwhelmingly large localization of manufacturing industries delete in Accra and Tema Metropolitan areas, a relative spatial redistribution of manufacturing industries was evident in the peripheral district of the region. Furthermore, the change in distribution is reflected in the pattern of employment at the district level, which per our findings shows a relative diffusion from the core districts of Accra to districts located in the peripheries. The study also found that industrial policies, such as free trade zone initiative, decentralization policies, foreign investment and improvements in critical infrastructure, have resulted in the relative spatial diffusion of manufacturing industries. These findings are significant because they show how areas without previous manufacturing base have witnessed the emergence of some form of industry.

Opis:
At present fish processing industry is one of the most dynamically developing groups belonging to food industry in Poland. In the last ten years the sold production of fish processing industry increased over three times. Fish processing companies reveal a great ability to adapt to turbulently changing conditions of the market game. It happens this way, among others, as a result of creating competitiveness by widely understood consolidation processes and creating strong organizational and spatial ties of an international range. At the same time European market of fish processing guaranteed not only economic standards for already existing companies, but also became an impulse for creating new production units offering their products and services in the European Union market. The article attempts to determine the weight of factors and advantages of location for fish processing industry in Poland and their influence on the changes in the spatial structure. Besides the changes in distribution, the food processing companies in Poland were also characterized taking into consideration their concentrationin view of the theory of cluster.

Opis:
"Environmental islands" are created because of human activity. They are usually tops of hills surrounded by valleys, lakes or isolated woodlands. The separation of islands causes them to be the only environmental refuge in an encompassing landscape. Environmental islands are connected with problems of fragmentation of habitats, survival of species or protection of the environment. Linear distances between islands are the crucial factor in the creation of their systems. The seriesof "environmental islands" may be an ecological corridor that allows species to migrate. The location of islands should be optimised when the landscape is created (according to rural-environmental programmes). The forest islands in the rural landscape should be treated as replacement forms of actual forests. They are quite resistant to synanthropization processes. Vegetation may preserve the character of forest associations.

Opis:
Commonly it is deemed, which is also confirmed in professional economical literature, that spatial structure of farms in Poland is insufficient and requires improvement. The need of this improvement is dictated by the necessity of increasing the amount of developing farms, which guarantee the fulfilment of always increasing internal and external demand on polish food and raw materials of agricultural origin necessary to produce renewable sources of energy. Actions of the state heading for improving the spatial structure of farms were taken in Poland, with different effect, throughout the whole post–war period but their intensification took place after 1990. The most important activities initiated after this year are: the supporting of crediting the purchasing of land through granting premiums to interest of bank loans and then applying different forms of financial support for structural transformations in agriculture, provided by actions of assistance programmes for agriculture and rural areas after 2004. Special role in this matter has been envisaged on structural pensions in agriculture. In practice it turned out however that non of these actions both taken separately and together have not caused significant positive changes in the spatial structure of farms. Therefore the general conclusion on the background of this analysis leads to the opinion that the essential influence on desired structural changes in agriculture, in it also on the improvement of spatial structure of farms, have mainly friendly to the producer market of foodstuff and that actions which were analysed in this paper one can impute only auxiliary function in these transformations.

The analysis of the factors, connected with the different features of particular macrophyte species, determining the spatial distribution of zooplankton communities (rotifers and crustaceans) was purpose of this study. Particular zooplankton species reveal habitat preferences, which reflect variability in the spatial structure of particular macrophyte species, which is connected with different shape, length and width of stems.
Celem pracy była analiza czynników zwiazanych ze zróżnicowana biometria poszczególnych gatunków makrofitów, wpływajacych na przestrzenne rozmieszczenie zespołów zooplanktonu (wrotków i skorupiaków). Poszczególne gatunki zooplanktonu wykazywały preferencje siedliskowe bedace wynikiem różnorodnosci w strukturze przestrzennej i morfologicznej poszczególnych gatunków roslin. Opis:
Multimemetic algorithms (MMAs) are a subclass of memetic algorithms in which memes are explicitly attached to genotypes and evolve alongside them. We analyze the propagation of memes in MMAs with a spatial structure. For this purpose we propose an idealized selecto-Lamarckian model that only features selection and local improvement, and study under which conditions good, high-potential memes can proliferate. We compare population models with panmictic and toroidal grid topologies. We show that the increased takeover time induced by the latter is essential for improving the chances for good memes to express themselves in the population by improving their hosts, hence enhancing their survival rates. Experiments realized with an actual MMA on three different complex pseudo-Boolean functions are consistent with these findings, indicating that memes are more successful in a spatially structured MMA, rather than in a panmictic MMA, and that the performance of the former is significantly better than that of its panmictic counterpart.
