Opis:: In order to be able to use the method of surveying satisfaction of production departments with the services provided by maintenance departments, one must first acquire and analyse considerable amounts of data. Such an attempt may only be successful if an appropriate information tool is used. This article provides a discussion on the concept of an MS Excel spreadsheet application for the sake of creating such a tool. The author has proposed a specific data structure enabling storage of the data acquired in the course of research. The entities occurring in it have been identified and discussed, and so have the attributes assigned to individual entities. The author has also elaborated on the spreadsheet mechanisms which allow for data processing in accordance with the premises of the aforementioned method.

Opis:: The article describes the research project on spreadsheet application to a university- level education in the field of financial controlling and managerial accounting. The research has been carried out on a sample of students of the Faculty of Management of UTP by means of a questionnaire. Own experience of researchers gained in course of numerous trainings financed by the Operational Program Human Capital held in computer laboratories has also been included in the research approach. The results of the research univocally indicate that the use of spreadsheets in education in the above fields becomes a compelling necessity and also clearly show a gap in spreadsheet skills among students and alumni. The research outcomes strongly support a conclusion that significant changes in education methods offered by economic universities in the area of financial controlling and managerial accounting are highly recommended.

Zajęcia z Technologii informacyjnych, Arkuszy kalkulacyjnych czy z Zarządzania projektami są okazją do pokazania wagi interdyscyplinarności w nauce, w tym do motywowania, głębszego poznania i zrozumienia matematyki.
At school and the university, simple mathematical tasks are used to show available functionalities of spreadsheets and ways of organizing data. We focus, in our article, on the necessity to understand the various mathematical concepts that enable proper data preparation and interpretation of results. Classes in Information Technology are an opportunity to show the importance of interdisciplinarity in science, thus motivating a better understanding of mathematics.

Opis:: Tools which support and automate the execution of information processes may be created in a spreadsheet by following the author’s signature concept of “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. While developing them, one must apply adequate solutions enabling representation of identified entities and ensuring data integrity as well as acquisition of the reports and collations assumed to be generated. This article addresses the problem of conformity between values of foreign keys in child entities and values of primary keys in parent entities. Four cases of relationships between a parent entity and a child entity have been discussed. One of the criteria that differentiates between these cases is the occurrence of a simple key or a composite key. Another applicable criterion is the sequence in which data are entered using the tool. With regard to all the identified cases, solutions that support data integrity have been presented and discussed. In accordance with the concept in question, the solutions proposed in the paper make use of standard spreadsheet features and components, without involving any additional code created in any programming language.

Opis:: Wierceniu otworów w górnictwie naftowym towarzyszy emisja hałasu wytwarzanego przez urządzenia wiertnicze. Proces wykonywania otworu wiertniczego, na który składają się operacje wiercenia, zapuszczania i wyciągania kolumny przewodu wiertniczego oraz prace pomocnicze podzespołów urządzenia wiertniczego, pomp płuczkowych, agregatów prądotwórczych i urządzeń pomocniczych, wywiera znaczny wpływ na kształtowanie się poziomu hałasu w otoczeniu wiertni. W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia dotyczące hałasu w środowisku wiertni oraz rozkład poziomu hałasu w środowisku otaczającym urządzenie wiertnicze. Wykonano pilotowe badania hałasu podczas pracy urządzenia wiertniczego typu Bentec EURO RIG 450 na wiertni X. Wyniki pomiarów przedstawiono w tabelach oraz na mapie rozkładu poziomu hałasu w otoczeniu wiertni. Do badań użyto zestawu aparatury pomiarowej posiadającej aktualne świadectwa wzorcowania. Pomiary wykonano według odpowiednich procedur w czterech kierunkach co 90° w odległości 50 m, 100 m, 200 m, 400 m oraz w sąsiedztwie budynków mieszkalnych. Do generowania przestrzennych rozkładów poziomu hałasu użyto metod geostatycznej analizy danych. Zastosowano metodę krigingu bazującego na wartościach zmierzonych w punktach pomiarowych oraz parametrach przestrzennego rozkładu takich jak korelacja i wariancja. Mając wygenerowaną mapę rozkładu poziomu hałasu w postaci wartości na siatce modelu, można dokonać kwalifikacji punktów siatki, w których poziom hałasu jest dopuszczalny lub przekroczony. Jakość wykonywanych pomiarów na urządzeniu wiertniczym w czasie operacji wiertniczych ma decydujące znaczenie dla analizy zagrożeń hałasem. Opracowano program obliczeniowy pozwalający na szybką analizę wprowadzonych danych. Arkusz pozwala w prosty i szybki sposób wyliczyć podstawowe parametry oceny hałasu oraz oszacowania niepewności uzyskanych wyników. Wszystkie formuły zastosowane w algorytmach makra obliczeniowego arkusza są zgodne z aktualnie obowiązującymi normami. Biorąc pod uwagę postęp techniczny i zastosowanie środków zmniejszających hałas w projektowaniu urządzeń wiertniczych, zagrożenia wynikające z emisji hałasu powinny być zmniejszane, w szczególności u źródła.
Drilling of hydrocarbon wells is accompanied by emission of noise created by drilling rig. The process of making a well consists of drilling operations, drilling pipe trips and auxiliary activity of drilling rig subassemblies, mud pumps, electric power generators and other equipment which has significant impact on noise in the drilling rig environment. This publication presents noise issues in the drilling rig environment and the noise level distribution in the environment around the rig. Pilot noise measurements were performed during operation of the Bentec Euro Rig-450 at the X drilling site. Measurement results were shown in tables and in the noise distribution map of the terrain surrounding the well. Measurements were performed using a set of measuring instruments with current calibration certificates and according to appropriate procedures in four directions every 90° at a distance of 50, 100, 200, 400 m and in the vicinity of residential buildings. Geostatic data analysis method was used to generate spatial distributions of noise levels. A kriging method based on the values measured at measurement points and spatial distribution parameters such as correlation and variance were used. With the noise level distribution map generated in the form of values on the model grid, the grid points may be qualified as points with acceptable or excessive noise. The quality of measurements performed on the drilling rig during drilling operations is of significant importance for the analysis of noise hazards. A spreadsheet was created to allow quick analysis of the entered data. This sheet allows for quick and easy calculation of the basic parameters of noise assessment and to estimate the uncertainty of the obtained results. All formulas used in the spreadsheet macro algorithms are compliant with the currently applicable standards. Taking into account technical progress and the application of noise reducing measures in the design stage of drilling rigs, the risks resulting from noise emissions should be reduced, in particular at its source.

Opis:: W artykule zamieszczono siedem autentycznych rozumowań, uzyskanych oduczniów szkoły średniej oraz studenta studiów doktoranckich z matematykiw wyniku obserwacji ich pracy nad rozwiązaniem zadania. Każda z tych osóbrozwiązywała jedno z czterech zadań, wśród których jedno to standardowezadanie z geometrii analitycznej, a trzy pozostałe to zadania otwarte – każdeo innej strukturze logicznej. Opisane rozumowania są analizowane przezpryzmat wprowadzonej przez Profesor Zofię Krygowską typologii rodzajówmyślenia matematycznego, w której wyróżnia się: wnioskowanie empiryczne,rozumowanie intuicyjne oraz rozumowanie formalne. W komentarzach do rozumowańuwzględniane są także wyniki rozważań innych autorów na tematnatury myślenia matematycznego. W konkluzji zwrócono uwagę na różnice wrozumieniu przez poszczególnych uczniów, czym jest uzasadnienie stwierdzeniamatematycznego, a także na pewne podobieństwo między uczniem a osobą wykształconąmatematycznie w posługiwaniu się wnioskowaniem empirycznym.

Opis:: Purpose: The main purpose of the study was to develop and demonstrate a concept enabling application of popular and commonly available online forms combined with a spreadsheet to support data collection and processing under the ABCD (Suzuki) method. Design/methodology/approach: The factors which determine the various ways in which the method in question is applied were first identified, and then it was established which of them affected the manner in which the form to be filled by experts is designed. Different variants of the method were identified on such a basis. For individual variants, the possibility of using different types of questions was discussed by considering the features available in the most popular and free-of-charge solutions enabling online forms to be developed. Diverse data layouts were also identified to establish the frameworks in which data are represented in spreadsheet files. Solutions which make it possible to automatically produce the consolidated reports required for purposes of the ABCD method were identified for each of the data layouts originally defined. Findings: When combined with a spreadsheet, popular online forms enable highly efficient data collection and processing with the ABCD method in use. Where the said method is applied according to the variant in which every cause is rated, an adequate data collection form can be created using both the online form solutions subject to analysis. If the method is applied according to the variant in which every rating must be used precisely once, developing a useful tool becomes significantly more complicated. Where this is the case, one can create a suitable form to validate the input data only by using the solution delivered by Google. Additionally, the layout of such a form must be reversed compared to the traditional form functioning under the ABCD method. Considering the diverse variants of the ABCD method linked with various kinds of questions used to build the form, 3 different layouts of the data collected by means of a spreadsheet were identified. With respect to each of them, one can devise a solution to ensure automated generation of the consolidated reports typical of the method in question. Practical implications: The solution proposed in the paper can be applied in practice while using the ABCD (Suzuki) method. Originality/value: The concept described in the paper is the author’s signature solution.

Opis:: Zapylenie jest to ogólnie przyjęta nazwa na określenie zawartości pyłu w powietrzu frakcji wdychalnej i/lub respirabilnej na stanowiskach pracy. Podstawę oceny narażenia w środowisku pracy stanowią najwyższe dopuszczalne stężenia pyłu (NDS). Artykuł obejmuje zagadnienie zapylenia, zasady pobierania zapylonego powietrza, wykonanie pomiaru oraz metody obliczania wartości wynikowych. Przeprowadzono pomiary zapylenia na stanowisku spawacza w pomieszczeniu spawalni. Opracowano arkusz kalkulacyjny służący do gromadzenia danych z wykonanych pomiarów i obliczeń wskaźników zapylenia na stanowiskach pracy. Uzyskane wyniki zostały wykorzystane do testowania zaimplementowanych w arkuszu kalkulacyjnym metod oceny szkodliwości zapylenia.
Personal dust is a generally accepted name for respirable dust content in the working environment. The exposure assessment is based on the highest allowable dust concentrations (NDS). This publication discusses the issue of dust problem, principles of sampling dust-laden air, performing the measurement and the method of result calculation. Measurements were performed at a welder’s working place in a welding shop. Taking into account technical progress, a spreadsheet for data collection and calculation of respirable dust content in the working environment was prepared. Obtained results were used to test the methods implemented in this spreadsheet and were employed for assessing the harmfulness of dust.

Opis:: Typical financial model applied in the area of short term financial management under wealth maximization approach is in a form of an analytical model, like the one built by for example [Sartoris, Hill 1983; Kim, Chung 1990]. The assumptions concerning the continuous cash flows resulting from sales and direct relationship between the size of cash flows and the size of sales result in inaccurate and biased forecasts made on the basis of such analytical models. The applicability of it is therefore questionable. The paper presents the construction and verification of the financial model of operating working capital that enables to build forecasts of better quality. Such a goal is achieved by applying the spreadsheet approach instead of analytical functions.
