Opis:
The article reports three experiments conducted to determine whether musicians possess better ability of recognising the sources of natural sounds than non-musicians. The study was inspired by reports which indicate that musical training develops not only musical hearing, but also enhances various non-musical auditory capabilities. Recognition and detection thresholds were measured for recordings of environment al sounds presented in quiet (Experiment 1) and in the background of a noise masker (Experiment 2). The listener’s ability of sound source recognition was inferred from the recognition-detection threshold gap (RDTG) defined as the difference in signal level between the thresholds of sound recognition and sound detection. Contrary to what was expected from reports of enhanced auditory abilities of musicians, the RDTGs were not smaller for musicians than for non-musicians. In Experiment 3, detection thresholds were measured with an adaptive procedure comprising three interleaved stimulus tracks with different sounds. It was found that the threshold elevation caused by stimulus interleaving was similar for musicians and non-musicians. The lack of superiority of musicians over non-musicians in the auditory tasks Explorer in this study is explained in terms of a listening strategy known as casual listening mode, which is a basis for auditory orientation in the environment.

Opis:
Triathlon is dev eloping very quickly nowadays. In our paper we are interested in cross triathlon. The road bike is replaced by the mtb mountain bike and the run is also done in the mountain. Triathlon is the endurance kind of sport where the AeT’s (aerobical threshold) a nd AnT’s (anaerobical threshold) level is the basic indicator of a sports performance. The curve of the both thresholds changes under the influence of a lot of factors during the year. We studied the influence of the running preparation on the aerobic and anaerobic threshold at the cross triathlon specialist during one year. We monitored the level, especially the changes in the sports performance during the ATC (annual training cycle). We valued the training proccess, the quantization of the training load and its influence on the triathlet’s performance with the intraindividual analysis. We gained the necessary data from the training diary and with help of the tests realized in the laboratory conditions .We detected the speed at the aerobic and anaerobic thr eshold by the running belt. Then we corelated them with the training parameters and we found out the addaction. We followed their actual influence on the performace and the influence of the training paramaters in the time intervals.

Opis:
Lactate threshold (LT) estimation in endurance sports continues to be a widely controversial field amongst sports scientists and students despite beyond 50 years of research. With the advent of technology and superior sensors, LT research has ventured into newer fields involving wearables and artificial intelligence. Still, there is a felt need to understand the focused areas of LT research and to guide the students, sports scientists and coaches. The main aim of this mini-review is to identify research categories in a descriptive manner and to synthesize broad themes for future research from latest literature. A comprehensive electronic search in three databases was performed including only original free full text research articles conducted in athletes and heathy subjects, published in English between 2016 and 2020 following PRISMA guidelines. Out of screened 466 articles, 14 articles were finally shortlisted as per inclusion criteria and the findings were summarized. Five research categories were identified and reviewed. To conclude, there is a need for consensus in Graded Exercise test protocols used, LT concepts validity for specific sports and the application of valid, reliable noninvasive LT estimation methods in endurance sports. Synthesized broad themes would help guide sports scientists, students and researchers for future research.

Opis:
The paper presents results of hearing loss measurements provided for 81 young people (from 16 to 25 years old). The main aim of the work was to find the influence of headphones of the types used (closed, semi-open, open and in-ear) on the hearing losses. The first part of the research was to answer questions about the influence of: time of listening, loudness of music, other noise exposures as well as the type of the headphones used. It turned out that all factors mentioned above influence thresholds of hearing but the found dependencies are not explicit. The greatest hearing losses were observed for people who work as sound reinforcement engineers and, moreover, no influence of the headphone types was found for them. It turned out that the use of in-ear headphones causes the greatest hearing losses for some subjects (thresholds shifted up to about 20 dB HL at 4 kHz). The daily time of a listening also affected the hearing thresholds. It was found that for users of in-ear and close headphones, an average time of musical exposure of three hours causes the hearing loss of 10-15 dB HL at higher frequencies. The use of open as well as semi-open headphones has no influence on the hearing damage. Thus it would be stated that these kinds are safety in use. Almost 15% of the investigated young people have their thresholds shifted up at higher frequencies, particularly at 4 kHz, which means that they have the first symptoms of a permanent hearing damage.

Opis:
The purpose of the article is to verify a hypothesis about the asymmetric pass-through of crude oil prices to the selling prices of refinery products (unleaded 95 petrol and diesel oil). The distribution chain is considered at three levels: the European wholesale market, the domestic wholesale market and the domestic retail market. The error correction model with threshold cointegration proved to be an appropriate tool for making an empirical analysis based on the Polish data. As found, price transmission asymmetry in the fuel market is significant and its scale varies depending on the level of distribution. The only exception is the wholesale price transmission to the domestic refinery price. All conclusions are supported by the cumulative response functions. The analysis sheds new light on the price-setting processes in an imperfectly competitive fuel market of a medium-sized, non-oil producing European country in transition.

Opis:
Istnieje kilka aspektów adaptacyjności progowych układów pomiarowych aplikowanych w systemach diagnostycznych. Do podstawowych należy zaliczyć: - właściwe dopasowanie poziomów progów pomiarowych do amplitudy i dynamiki zmian sygnału diagnostycznego XD(t); - odpowiednie dostosowanie długości okna dozorowania do dynamiki zmian sygnału XD(t); - dobór racjonalnej częstości próbkowania sygnału XD(t). W niniejszym opracowaniu wskazano kolejne możliwości adaptacji metody oraz układu pomiarów progowych, mające wpływ na niezawodność "progowego" procesu diagnozowania. Do ważniejszych zagadnień - w tym kontekście - należą: - dobór właściwej "długości okna" szacowania charakteru rozkładu zmiennej losowej zakłócającej sygnał diagnostyczny; - rola stabilizacyjnego współczynnika nieczułości układu przesuwania progów; - zadania komparacyjno-decyzyjnego układu wyboru algorytmu obliczania funkcji symptomowej XS(t).
There are several aspects of the adaptation of the threshold measurement systems applied in diagnostic systems. The most common are as follows: - the appropriate adjustment of measurement threshold levels for the amplitude and dynamics of the diagnostic signal XD(t); - the adaptation of the length of supervision window to the dynamics of the signal XD(t); and, - the selection of the efficient sampling frequency of the signal XD(t). In this study, further adaptation possibilities of the measurement methods and thresholds that affect the reliability of the "threshold" of the diagnosis are pointed out. The most important issues in this context are as follows: the selection of appropriate window length for estimating the nature of the random variable signal disturbing diagnostic signal; - the role of the stabilising coefficient of insensitivity of the threshold shift system; and, - the tasks of the comparative-decision-making system for the selection of a calculating algorithm for the symptom function XS(t).

In the paper we present a simple threshold decryption system based on the RSA cryptosystem. Our model avoids the application of the Shamir secret sharing protocol and is based only on the Chinese reminder theorem. The flexibility in the threshold level is attained due to the suitable preparation of the input data. The second part of the article describes a modification of the basic model, which admits the sender's impact on the choice of the real receiver's group.

Opis:
In this follow up paper, the ribovirocell concept from the first part of the study is linked to the ontological realm of human reality before, during and in the aftermath of COVID19. During this fluid space-time, human reality is multi-faceted and often very complicated. The authors present a division of the reality into fundamental reality and situational reality. Fundamental reality is based on the (physical) laws of nature such as the speed of light as a fundamental physical constant. This reality spans beyond the course of time as perceived by humans, which is beyond the duration of a single or multiple human lifespans and beyond the duration of the COIVD19 pandemic. Next to fundamental reality and overlapping with it, exists the situational reality, which humans experience directly themselves during their lifetime(s). Actions of humanity and of individual human beings contribute to the shaping of the situational reality. Examples of the situational reality can be e.g. experiencing atrocities that humanity has committed, humanity’s actions to prevent such atrocities in the future, as well as human progress in eliminating poverty/inequality in the world. At least, some aspects of human lives take place at the boundary between the fundamental and situational reality. The COVID19 pandemic is linked to the concepts and the boundary between the fundamental and situational reality that human’s experiences, such as speed of pandemic impact and shifting nature of reality. The ribovirocell state of one’s self is linked to the way to apply the speed as a threshold concept for resilience in the coronavirus space-time and the post-COVID19 world

Opis:
The efficiency of energy conversion of aerobic metabolism to external work is of great importance to sports exercise. Despite this fact, gross efficiency (GE) is not commonly used as a parameter in the assessment of cyclists’ exercise ability. It is also known that road cyclists traverse most of their route at a work intensity below the anaerobic threshold (AT). We tried to examine the relationship between the standard aerobic parameters used for defining the endurance of cyclists and GE, measured just below the anaerobic threshold. Fifty cyclists were subjected to a progressive test. Work done and the basic respiratory and circulatory parameters were measured. Gross efficiency was calculated at work intensity just below AT. We observed a very low correlation (R = –0.137) between GE (24.9 ±2.06) and maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) – 63.8 ±6,27 ml × kg–1 × min–1. The strongest correlation (R = –0.258) was recorded between GE and the percentage of maximal oxygen consumption (58.9 ±7.0%) for the load prior to the occurrence of the anaerobic threshold. The weak, but existing correlation between GE and selected respiratory and circulatory parameters may suggest that GE provides unique and independent information about the examined athletes.
