Opis:: The article is devoted to spatial experience in Łukasz Barys’ novel Jeśli przecięto cię na pół [If You Were Cut in Half]. Since complex interactions with space constitute a vital aspect of the identity formation of Marcel, the novel’s protagonist and narrator, the ways in which he perceives and describes his surroundings are carefully examined. Thus, particular emotive and sensual topographies are mapped and the liminal as well as heterotopic qualities of space are discussed. Furthermore, Jacques Derrida’s idea of hauntology is employed to interpret the process of addressing the forgotten or repressed elements of history. The analysed spaces are divided into three categories, namely the space of exclusion, the space of repression and the space of transgression.

Opis:: Regarding the rapidly growing satellite altimetry database and corresponding products worldwide, an investigation of different mean dynamic ocean topography (MDT) models was assessed to be important for further use in geodetic applications. The efficiency and quality of different MDT models are discussed in view of adopted geoids as reference surfaces. The models used are: 1) The ECCO model based on hydrology and altimetry data, 2) The combined MDT Rio-05 constructed in CSL AVISO (2005) from data for the period 1993-1999, 3) The combined MDT CNES-CLS09 model at the grid points 15’x15’ based on altimetry and hydrology data for the period 1993-2007 (CSL AVISO, 2009), 4) The DNSC08MDT solution of mean dynamic topography (Danish National Space Center) obtained from the geometrical differences between the DNSC08 mean sea surface and the EGM2008 geoid model. The concluding results of the investigation are: 1) statistics of all mean dyamic topography models leads to the approximately same standard deviations about 70 cm and range from -2 m to 2 m; 2) all differences among various MDT models give much smaller standard deviations about 6 – 15 cm; 3) all such differences among various MDT give larger mean deviation, which can be explained by different geoid models or reference surfaces adopted for each solution; 4) better agreement provides MDT CNES-CLS09 and DNSC08MDT models. As a result, we prefer MDT CNES-CLS09 and DNSC08MDT solutions since their noise level corresponds to an estimated accuracy of modern satellite altimetry data.

Opis:: The carried out research of the processes for the treatment of superfinishing with the application of microfinishing films of IMFF type with heaping the grain from the alundum with the nominal size of 15 micrometers for the different cinematic system proved that the topography of surface after smoothening depends on the cinematic features of process. It is demonstrated that the machining with oscillation can be substituted and the similar effects can be obtained as a result of the deviation from the parallelism of the directions of object feed and foil feed. This means the possibility to apply the super finisher attachments with a simpler building.

Opis:: The study of geoid fluctuations in coastal areas is extremely important in understanding the changes in the extent of the Earth’s crust and also in the form of the mean sea surface topography (MSST). In recent years, the GNSS-on-boat method has made important steps towards the detailed description of marine topography, achieving precision to the order of a few centimeters, which is much more significant than has been achieved with the alternative satellite and altimetric methods. In this study, the method is applied for the first time in a lagoon, a challenging but exceptionally interesting environment both from a geophysical and hydrodynamic viewpoint. The ‘Papas’ lagoon in Western Achaia (Greece) was chosen for field measurements. The result for the geoid form shows a peak (13-15cm) in the marine topography approximately in the center of the lagoon. If this is confirmed in other lagoons or lakes, it will constitute a significant contribution to hydrocyanic dynamic models, which currently take as a basic assumption that the surface of the water is level. At the same time, the form of the SST indicates a significant reduction in gravity in the center of the lagoon, which may be linked either with a local reduction in the thickness-density of the Earth’s crust or with the existence of underground voids, faults or deposits.

Opis:: In the present paper, main emphasis is given to synthesize the Stannous-Cerium oxide nanocomposites in nanofilms, nanodots and nanorods by Chemical bath method, Chemical drop method and Chemical rolling Method. These nanocomposite materials are synthesized on a glass substrate at 100 °C temperature. Crystallography investigation of these materials is done by X-ray diffraction (XRD) which reveals that average grain size is 58.9 nm and 62.3 nm for nanofilms and nanodots on glass substrate respectively whereas XRD diffraction for nanorod on glass substrate reveals that material is amorphous in nature.

Opis:: The main aim of the article is an interpretation of novels written by Piotr Paziński – especially Birds’ streets (Ptasie ulice) from 2013, but also Guesthouse (Pensjonat) from 2009. In his prose the author is always searching for traces of Jewish identity and memory of the war-time in contemporary Warsaw (and its surroundings). His literary strategy is a kind of spatial obsession – he exhibits places: destroyed, ruined or removed as a sign of lost memory about Jewish history in Polish space. Individual identity of characters created in his novels (as well as possibly his own self-identification) is formed during the recognition of places connected with singular biography and common history.

Opis:: The article analyzes the connections between the questions of ecology and the formal presentations of landscape and topography in the dystopian prose of Paolo Bacigalupi. He models his literary world – the Earth in no so distant future – along the following framework. Today’s toponomastics refers to the places which have been transformed by eco-climatic disasters and devastated by modern economy on many platforms: geographical, political and biological. The shift of the widely recognizable world maps (geographical, physical, economic) underlies Bacigalupi’s literary constructs. On the one hand, it corresponds with the authorial analyses of socio-political-economic and civilization-ethical transformations around which his stories revolve. On the other, this change evokes in the reader the sense of alienation and, consequently, threat.

Opis:: The publication describes the methodology and results of the studies on stereometric characteristics of the diamond surface of microfinishing films. This methodology is used in different treatments of precise finishing of very high smoothness and accuracy. One presented the results of analysis of vertices’ size in parallel plane to the film surface and towards perpendicular plane to it. Moreover, one performed an assessment of the distance between the grains using surface decomposition on Voronoi cell surface. In order to determine the film surface necessary to perform a particular microfinishing operation, one developed an index which is dependent on the overall profile of the film in the form of an envelope of the sum of vertices’ projections above a certain level. Studying the formation of diamond aggregates of abrasive grains and the spaces between them, one can conclude about the machining potential of microfinishing film and determine a recommended speed of the film displacement ensuring maximum utilization of this potential.
