This article is an attempt to present the phenomenon of sexual violence against people with intellectual disabilities in three dimensions or in the areas of its functioning. It presents a query of current research on the phenomenon of sexual violence against people with intellectual disability in the perspective of minimizing its significance (1), lack of credibility of people with intellectual disability (2) and experiencing violence from people with whom a person with disabilities remains in a cognitive relationship of dependence (3).

Niniejszy artykuł jest wstępnym przedstawieniem analizy zjawiska przemocy seksualnej wobec osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną w narracjach nauczycieli, terapeutów i psychologów pracujących z osobami z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. W artykule zaprezentowane zostały fragmenty projektu badawczego realizowanego w ramach grantu Narodowego Centrum Nauki Miniatura 2. Przeprowadzono wywiady na temat przemocy seksualnej wobec osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną z kadrą pedagogiczno-psychologiczną. Wyodrębniono wstępnie dwie kategorie analizy: domniemanie (nie)prawdomówności oraz poczucie (nie)kompetencji.
Guessing (not)truthness and feeling (not)competence – sexual violence against people with intellectual disability in narrative of therapists This article is a preliminary presentation of the analysis of the phenomenon of sexual violence against people with intellectual disabilities in the narratives of teachers, therapists and psychologists working with people with intellectual disabilities. The article presents fragments of a research project implemented under the National Science Center Miniatura 2 grant. Interviews were conducted on sexual violence against people with intellectual disabilities with pedagogical and psychological staff. Two categories of analysis were initially separated: the presumption of (un)truthfulness and the sense of (un)competence.

Tacit un-knowledge among professionals dealing with sexual abuse of children and adults with intellectual disabilities

This paper, we are discussing the question of particular attitudes expressed by the professionals (teachers and therapists) in the context of sexual abuse of people (including children) with intellectual disabilities (ID) which we identify as tacit un-knowledge. Drawing from the concept of tacit knowledge introduced by Michael Polanyi we are looking closely into some sort of professional passivity and indulgence in reacting to the sexual abuse of people with ID and lack of adequate professional education and training on the other hand. These observations led us to formulate a Polanyi-inspired notion of un-knowledge expressed as a culture-based response to directly or indirectly reported incidents of sexual abuse of people with ID. Data discussed in this paper is a part of a broader research project on sexual abuse of people with disabilities in the narratives of teachers and therapists conducted by one of the authors.
Niniejszy artykuł stanowi analizę nie-wiedzy na temat przypadków przemocy seksualnej wobec osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. Najważniejszym zapytaniem, jakie stawiamy w niniejszym tekście jest to, jaką faktycznie wiedzą (lub jej brakiem) na temat tego zjawiska dysponują nauczyciele i terapeuci oraz w jaki sposób ta wiedza (lub jej brak) oraz posiadane informacje warunkują sposoby reagowania na przypadki nadużyć seksualnych wobec osób z niepełnosprawnością intelektualną. Wypowiedzi rozmówców analizujemy posługując się koncepcją wiedzy ukrytej Michaela Polany'ego (tacit knowledge) proponując zmodyfikowanie jej odczytania jako specyficznej dla środowiska psychologów i pedagogów specjalnych praktykowanej i konserwowanej nie-wiedzy (un-knowledge) w zakresie przemocy seksualnej wobec osób z NI. Omówione badania stanowią część większego projektu realizowanego przez jednego z Autorów. Autorzy deklarują brak konfliktu interesów jak i zależności finansowych, które mogłyby wpłynąć na treść niniejszej analizy.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to collect information on students' perception of their life quality during a pandemic. It aimed at gaining information on how quality of life changed before and during the pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: The research method used was a questionnaire survey. For this purpose, Google Form was used. The survey contained 22 multiple choice questions. Findings: The pandemic had a negative impact on the perception of life quality. Using a categorization into 8 areas in the hierarchy of values in the students' lives, the most important were found to be family, mental and physical health and friends. Research limitations/implications The major limitation was the number of votes collected in the survey. The next research should be extended to include the issue of hierarchy of values in relation to the perception of life quality and a larger research group, for example, students from different universities in different provinces. Social implications: This study will provide insight into the issues and changes in the perception of life quality that affect students during a global pandemic. The article presented here is a voice in the discussion of students' perception of life quality during a pandemic. Originality/value: The research presents changes in the perception of life quality by students of the Silesian University of Technology during a global pandemic.

Introduction. This article discusses the correlations between social worker’s family resources and their readiness to change. Preliminary definition of the understanding of the analysed categories and the role those categories play in the performance of social work with a family have provided the basis for the analysis of own research results. Material and methods. The diagnostic survey method was used. The Readiness to Change Questionnaire by R. Kriegel and D. Brandt in the Polish adaptation by A. Paszkowska- -Rogacz was used to determine the social workers’ readiness to change in general and in terms of the characteristics that reflect the complexity of the phenomenon. Social worker’s family resources were analysed based on the Conservation of Resources-Evaluation questionnaire, which makes it possible to determine how important the resource is to a respondent, the levels of acquisition and sense of loss of the resource (Dudek, Koniarek, Szymczak, 2007; Hobfoll. 2012). Based on the factor analysis, two sub-scales of family- -related resources were distinguished, which were labelled: Family life balance, and Relations and needs. Results. The results of the study show that the resources related to Family life balance (considering their importance for the respondents as well as their level of acquisition and sense of loss) correlated with individual characteristics of the readiness to change more frequently compared to the resources included in the Relations and needs sub-scale. On the other hand, the level of acquisition of the two analysed factors, i.e., the distinguished sub- -scales of family resources, correlated with the level of the respondents’ general readiness to change. The stronger the sense of the acquisition of resources, the higher the level of the readiness to change. These results show that the process of minimising social workers’ resistance to change in terms of the general level of readiness to change and in terms of five of the seven analysed characteristic can be beneficially influenced not only by a social worker having family resources and the importance thereof but also, albeit to a lesser extent, by the sense of loss felt by the social worker. These results seem important due to the need to strengthen family systems of persons falling into the professional group subjected to the study, as the essence of their profession is to create and facilitate the readiness to change among families in danger of social exclusion or already socially excluded, and to accompany those families in the process.
Wprowadzenie. Przedmiotem rozważań podjętych w artykule są korelacje pomiędzy zasobami rodzinnymi pracowników socjalnych a ich gotowością do zmian życiowych. Wstępne określenie rozumienia analizowanych kategorii oraz znaczenia, jakie odgrywają one w pracy socjalnej z rodziną, dało podstawę do analizy wyników badań własnych. Cel. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badań nad fenomenem korelacji między zasobami rodzinnymi pracowników socjalnych a ich gotowością do zmian życiowych. Materiały i metody. Zastosowano metodę sondażu diagnostycznego. Poziom gotowości do zmian w wymiarze globalnym oraz w zakresie cech odzwierciedlających złożoność zjawiska określono za pomocą Kwestionariusza Gotowości do Zmiany, którego autorami są R. Kriegel i D. Brandt, w tłumaczeniu A. Paszkowskiej-Rogacz. Z kolei zasoby rodzinne badanych pracowników socjalnych analizowano w oparciu o Kwestionariusz Samooceny Zasobów, który pozwala przypisać osobie badanej ważność zasobu, stopień jego pozyskania i poczucia utraty (Dudek, Koniarek, Szymczak, 2007; Hobfoll, 2012). Na podstawie analizy czynnikowej wyróżniono dwie podskale zasobów związanych z rodziną, które nazwano: Równowaga w życiu rodzinnym oraz Relacje i potrzeby. Wyniki. Wyniki badań ujawniły, że częściej zasoby związane z Równowagą w życiu rodzinnym (zarówno z uwzględnieniem ich ważności dla osób badanych, stopnia ich pozyskania oraz poczucia utraty) korelowały z poszczególnymi cechami gotowości do zmian niż zasoby ujęte jako Relacje i potrzeby. Z kolei stopień pozyskania dwóch analizowanych czynników, czyli wyodrębnionych zasobów rodzinnych, korelował z poziomem ogólnej gotowości do zmian badanych pracowników socjalnych. Im silniejsze poczucie pozyskania zasobów, tym wyższy poziom gotowości do zmian. Wyniki te pokazują, że minimalizowaniu oporu przed zmianą wśród pracowników socjalnych w zakresie ogólnego poziomu gotowości do zmian oraz pięciu spośród siedmiu analizowanych cech może sprzyjać nie tylko posiadanie zasobów rodzinnych czy ich ważność, lecz także, choć w mniejszym zakresie, poczucie utraty w tym obszarze. Wyniki te wydają się ważne z uwagi na potrzebę wzmacniania systemów rodzinnych badanej grupy zawodowej, której istota pracy polega na kreowaniu, towarzyszeniu i sprzyjaniu gotowości do zmiany rodzinom zagrożonym marginalizacją społeczną i zmarginalizowanym.

Introduction. The article presents the issue of disability from the literary and legal perspective. The authors take into consideration the issue of disability as a social phenomenon, which is an inseparable element of every environment and culture, as well as the subject of compelling research. An important thread of the article is the transformation of the perception of disability perception throughout the centuries. Joe Abercrombie’s Shattered Sea trilogy serves as a concrete example of its presence. The sketch also revolves around the issue of changes in the perception and treatment of people with disabilities, as well as the introduction of regulations and social education which are to serve as means to provide people with disabilities with equal opportunities in order to function in the society. Aim. The aim of the article is to present the image of people with disabilities in prose addressed to young readers, taking into consideration the context of the disability studies as well as legal regulations. Materials and methods. The article is descriptive and analytical; it applies tools characteristic of the work of the philologist (including text explication, children’s studies, disability studies) as well as that of a lawyer (literature study, document analysis). Results. The analysis of the sources as well as observations and research show that the openness to the needs of people with disabilities and education in this area are progressively increasing, also through literature.
Wprowadzenie. Artykuł przedstawia zagadnienie niepełnosprawności z perspektywy literacko- prawnej. Autorzy uwzględniają kwestię niepełnosprawności jako zjawiska społecznego, będącego nieodłącznym elementem każdego środowiska i kultury, a także przedmiotem istotnych badań. Ważnym wątkiem artykułu uczyniono przeobrażenie postrzegania niepełnosprawności na przestrzeni wieków. Za konkretny przykład jej uobecnienia posłużyła trylogia Morze Drzazg Joe Abercrombiego. W szkicu poruszona została ponadto kwestia zmian w postrzeganiu oraz traktowaniu osób z niepełnosprawnościami, jak również wprowadzania przepisów i edukacji społecznej w celu maksymalnego zapewnienia osobom z niepełnosprawnościami równych szans funkcjonowania w społeczeństwie. Cel. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wizerunku osób z niepełnosprawnością w prozie adresowanej do młodego odbiorcy, z uwzględnieniem kontekstu studiów nad niepełnosprawnością oraz regulacji prawnych. Materiały i metody. Artykuł ma charakter opisowy i analityczny, wykorzystuje narzędzia charakterystyczne dla pracy filologa (m.in. eksplikacja tekstu, children’s studies, disability studies) i prawnika (studium literatury, analiza dokumentów). Wyniki. Z analizy źródeł oraz obserwacji i badań wynika, że sukcesywnie zwiększa się otwartość na potrzeby osób z niepełnosprawnością oraz edukacja w tym zakresie, również poprzez literaturę piękną.
