Opis:: Through some examples, the paper illustrates the lexicographic approach implemented in the Polonium PRAGMALEX project, which aims to provide a pragma-semantic description of conversational formulas in French with their equivalent in Polish and Italian, highlighting their pragmaticvalues. The sociolinguistic or cultural factors that determine their use in the discourse are also made more explicit.

Opis:: This article deals with formulas of Russian chronicle texts and their functions. According to the article, a chronicle is a specific type of Old Russian texts representing the synthetic genre and style. It is proven that speech formulas used in chronicles influenced the formation of the stylistic system of the Russian language. The formulas take both the stylistic function, marking certain parts of the text, and the semantic function, esta-blishing a semantic link between chronicle and precedent texts.

Opis:: У артыкуле прадстаўлена пазіцыя ўжывання камунікатыўна-дзейнаснага падыходу да вывучэння этыкетных формул прабачэння ў выкладанні беларускай мовы як замежнай. Асноўныя вывады грунтуюцца на камунікатыўна-прагматычным падыходзе, асветленым у сучасных лінгвістычных даследаваннях. З гэтай мэтай зроблены аналіз мовазнаўчых, навукова-метадычных і вучэбнаметадычных прац, прысвечаных дадзенаму пытанню. Акрамя таго, сцісла сфармуляваны ўласныя вынікі даследавання найбольш ужывальных у дыялагічным дыскурсе беларускай мовы выразаў з кампанентамі прабач(це), выбачай(це) і даруй(це). У працы прыводзяцца разнастайныя ілюстрацыйныя прыклады, спампаваныя з Нацыянальнага корпуса беларускай мовы, матэрыялы якога з’яўляюцца аб’ектам даследавання і, думаецца, пацвярджаюць занатаваныя палажэнні. Дзякуючы зробленым вывадам, стала магчыма звярнуць увагу студэнтаў на асаблівасці ў моўных паводзінах беларусаў, што праяўляюцца на ўзроўні стандартных сітуацый зносін. Выкарыстоўваючы ў сваім маўленні формулы прабачэння ва ўскосным (імпліцытным) значэнні, а таксама ў якасці сітуацыйных фрэймаў, беларусы дэманструюць пэўныя асаблівасці ў сваім менталітэце і нацыянальным характары. У канцы артыкула прапанаваны прыкладны комплекс камунікатыўных і маўленчых заданняў да практыкаванняў, якія рэкамендуюцца для выканання на занятках па БМЗ. Такая праца, верагодна, паспрыяе больш эфектыўнаму развіццю і фарміраванню камунікатыўнай і культурнамоўнай кампетэнцый у замежных студэнтаў.
The article presents the position concerning the communicative-activity approach to the study of etiquette formulas of apology in teaching Belarusian as a foreign language, which is based on the communicative-pragmatic aspect in modern linguistic research. To this aim, an analysis of linguistic, scientific, methodological and educational works on the subject was carried out. In addition, the results of previous research into the most frequently used expressions in dialogic discourse with the components прабач(це), выбачай(це) and даруй(це) are briefly outlined. The article provides a variety of illustrations taken from the National Corpus of the Belarusian language, which became the basis of the research, confirming the proposed position. Due to the conclusions made, it became possible to draw students’ attention to the peculiarities in the speech behaviour of the Belarusians, manifested at the level of standard communication situations. By using in their speech the apology formulas in indirect (implicit) meaning and as situational frames, the Belarusians demonstrate certain features of their mentality and national character. At the end of the article a sample set of communicative and speech tasks for the exercises is suggested which is likely to contribute to more effective development and formation of communicative and cultural-linguistic competences of foreign students.

The variety of speech acts within the closing formulas of e-mails (based on teachers’ e-mails to parents)

Opis:: The article aims to analyze the greeting and closing formulas in terms of the variety of speech acts as found in e-mails written by teachers of selected schools of southern Poland to parents. The research material constitutes 560 e-mails written in the years 2015-2020 by means of an online parent portal (e-dziennik). Closing formulas of the analyzed letters are usually significantly more elaborate than the greeting formulas. They are comprised of performative speech acts, mostly greetings, wishes, acknowledgements and requests that are often interconnected. Closing remarks used during the time of pandemic tend to be less conventional than the ones written prior to this time. Their most perceivable function is giving the recipients a sense of community.
Celem artykułu jest analiza formuł powitalnych w listach elektronicznych nauczycieli do rodziców pod kątem różnorodności reprezentowanych przez nie aktów mowy. Bazę materiałową stanowi 560 e-maili z lat 2015-2020 kierowanych przez nauczycieli wybranych szkół w południowej Polsce do rodziców za pośrednictwem dzienników elektronicznych. Końcowa część listów elektronicznych, poświęcona grzecznościowemu kontaktowi z adresatem, jest w tych wiadomościach często szczególnie rozbudowana (nieporównanie bardziej niż formuły początkowe). Składają się na nią performatywne akty mowy, przede wszystkim pozdrowienia, życzenia, podziękowania, prośby, często łączone z sobą. Formuły pożegnalne stosowane w czasie pandemii koronawirusa są mniej konwencjonalne od pochodzących sprzed tego okresu i na pierwszy plan wysuwa się ich funkcja wspólnototwórcza.

Opis:: Artykuł analizuje formy perswazji w dyskursie Grety Thunberg oraz krytykę jej przemówienia w tekstach dziennikarskich dostępnych online. Wyróżnia się trzy poziomy dyskursywne: logos, ethos i pathos, a także cztery elementy dyskursu perswazyjnego, tj. exordium, narrację, potwierdzenie i zreasumowanie. Analizując przemówienie w wersji tekstowej oraz nagrania wideo (w celu zbadania języka niewerbalnego), pokazujemy brak równowagi między trzema składnikami triady perswazyjnej. Poddane analizie zostają także elementy przemówienia, w których znajdziemy formuły patosu. W podsumowaniu potwierdzamy, że pomimo kontrowersji i mieszanego odbioru dyskurs Grety Thunberg jest perswazyjny dzięki pewnym jego komponentom.
This article examines the forms of persuasion in Greta Thunberg’s discourse and its critique in online journalistic texts. Three discursive levels are distinguished: logos, ethos and pathos, as well as the four elements of persuasive discourse, i.e. exordium, narration, confirmation and peroration. By analysing the speech and its visual recording (to also study her non-verbal language), we show the imbalance between the three components of the persuasive triad. A study of various elements of the speech, some of which are qualified as formulas of pathos is also included. In conclusion, we argue that Greta Thunberg’s discourse and its very controversial and somewhat mixed reception is nevertheless persuasive thanks to certain components.

Opis:: The article attempts to analyze the discourse formulas: on behalf of Rzeczypospolita and on behalf of Poland in the speeches of the presidents of the Third Polish Republic (1995-2023). The aim is to describe the potential of these formulas in the context of constructing the collective identity. The authors continue the debate undertaken in the previous publication (Dyoniziak & Pirogowska, 2023) and show on the basis of 1000 presidential speeches written on www.prezydent.pl that the proper name Rzeczpospolita has greater identity potential than the name Polska in creating a national community.
