Opis:
We propose an extension of the numerical method to model effect of Bose-Einstein correlations (BEC) observed in hadronization processes which allows for calculations not only the correlation functions C2(Qinv) (onedimensional), but also the corresponding C2(Qx,y,z) (i.e., three-dimensional). The method is based on the bunching of identical bosonic particles in elementary emitting cells (EEC) in phase space in a manner leading to proper Bose- Einstein form of distribution of energy (this was enough to calculate C2(Qinv)). To obtain C2(Qx,y,z) as well as one has to add to it the symmetrization of the multiparticle wave function to properly correlate space-time locations of produced particles with their energy-momentum characteristics.

Opis:
The nature of environmental interactions, as well as large dimensions and complex structure of marine offshore objects, make designing, building and operation of these objects a great challenge. This is the reason why a vast majority of investment cases of this type include structural analysis, performed using scaled laboratory models and complemented by extended computer simulations. The present paper focuses on FEM modelling of the offshore wind turbine supporting structure. Then problem is studied using the modal analysis, sensitivity analysis, as well as the design of experiment (DOE) and response surface model (RSM) methods. The results of modal analysis based simulations were used for assessing the quality of the FEM model against the data measured during the experimental modal analysis of the scaled laboratory model for different support conditions. The sensitivity analysis, in turn, has provided opportunities for assessing the effect of individual FEM model parameters on the dynamic response of the examined supporting structure. The DOE and RSM methods allowed to determine the effect of model parameter changes on the supporting structure response.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of computer simulations of a gear model, where the variable stiffness of the meshing and backlash are considered. The outcome of such assumptions is a non-linear mathematical model in which chaotic phenomena can occur. During model studies, attention was paid to the identification of areas limited by the physical parameters, for which the analysed system behaved chaotically. To determine the ranges of irregular gear behaviour, numerical procedures were used to plot the bifurcation diagram, the Lyapunov exponent, the amplitude-frequency distribution and the Poincaré cross section.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to provide examples of models used in ground and shell design in engineering facilities made using corrugated sheets, such as roads and rail. Despite the small size of culverts designed for transport use, sophisticated computational models are applied to faithfully reproduce them. To calculate internal forces and dis-placements resulting from the utility load, spatial 3D models with a very large number of elements are used. The paper discusses simplified 2D models allowing to accurately represent an object and its operation. The focus is on discussing three ways of discretization of a shell in the form of: corrugated metal, rod mesh and orthotropic shell.

Opis:
The rapid growth of various applications of the ejection refrigeration systems could be observed recently. Because of possibility of the application of solar or waste energy to supply the motive energy they can be thought as a real alternative to compression devices in air-conditioning technologies. Ejection system can effectively compete with absorption system under temperature of the motive heat source lower than 80°C. The paper deals with CFD numerical simulation along with experimental investigations carried out on a specially constructed prototype/stand for the case of isobutane as a working fluid under motive vapour temperature below 75°C. The numerical and experimental results of entrainment ratio were compared. A good accuracy between numerical and experimental results was observed. The divergent of the results are lower than 20% for tested series. The exemplary pressure and velocity field were presented. Also it was shown that predicted by numerical simulation pressure distribution at ejector wall fits well with experimental pressure distribution.

Opis:
The results of computer modelling of an injection moulding process with microcellular foaming (MuCell®) were presented in this work. The process is based on the dissolving nitrogen in a liquid polymer which is possible when nitrogen is in supercritical fluid state (SCF). After pressure drop of the melt in the injection mould the intensive nucleation of pores occurs and, as the result, the material with high concentration of small pores is created. The pores obtained in this way are of much smaller size than in a conventional foaming process. The pore size in the cross-section of an exemplary injection moulded part was calculated in the computer modelling and compared to the results of microscopical investigation made on the real injection moulded part. It was found that the size of the pores depends on the flow length inside the injection mould and on the position in the part’s cross-section.

Opis:
An assessment of operating conditions in a baffled fish passage with pool dimensions of 2:2 3:0 m, and 180 horizontally turning pools, was carried out using numerical computations and a site survey of water flow velocity distribution. Velocity was measured with a PMS electromagnetic flowmeter and a hydrometric current meter in representative cross-sections of the fish passage in the pool centres and in the baffle barrier cross-section area. Numerical computations were also performed for two alternative baffle locations in the fishway. One reflected the actual conditions, and the other was an alternative arrangement designed to improve hydraulic conditions for fish migration. The numerical model used the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) method, which makes it possible to detect large vortexes. The study pays close attention to the velocity field analysis as well as the distribution and sizes of vortexes in the turning pool of the culvert. The results of numerical computations and the site survey show high consistency, and the proposed baffle placement modification significantly improves flow conditions, especially in the entry section of the passage.

Opis:
The paper presents results of numerical calculations and modeling of mining-induced surface deformation based on Finite Element Method (FEM). Applying the numerical method discussed to calculations allows us to assume a larger number of factors, such as rock mass structure, fracture network, rock properties, etc., which essentially affect the results obtained. On the basis of an elastic transversely isotropic model, an analysis of horizontal displacement distribution and surface subsidence was carried out for two sample regions of mines. The results of numerical calculations were later compared with the measured values. Such an analysis proved that the applied numerical model properly described distribution and values of subsidence and slope of subsidence trough, though there were serious differences in the values of calculated horizontal displacement, especially in areas of far influence range. In order to improve the matching, the influence of boundary conditions of the model on the value of calculated horizontal displacement was analyzed. The results are presented in graphs.

Opis:
The differences in the evolution of rivers on Earth and on Titan are investigated. Dynamical analysis of the rivers was performed using a numerical package CCHE2D developed by the National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering, University of Mississippi. The model is based on the Navier-Stokes equations for depth-integrated two-dimensional turbulent flow and the three-dimensional convection-diffusion equation of sediment transport. The model enables investigation of the evolution of rivers as a function of total discharge and other parameters of the river. Series of short (from one to several hours) and long (up to 67 days) simulations were performed. We have found that three different liquid hydrocarbons considered for Titan’s rivers give similar velocity fields. It was also found that the suspended load is the main means of transport in Titan’s rivers, while in terrestrial ones, for the same discharge, the bedload could be of the same order as suspended load. Moreover, we suppose that for specific boundary conditions, the evolution of rivers on the Earth promotes the development of braided rivers, while for the same conditions evolution on Titan favours regular meandering rivers
