Opis:
Nanosponges (NS) loaded sustained release tablet formulations of a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug; Indomethacin were successfully developed and evaluated for their pharmaceutical properties. Twelve nanosponge formulations were fabricated by solvent diffusion method by using different ratios of drug and polymers (ethyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol). Particle size of all the formulations was in the nano range of 221 to 625 nm and it was found dependent on the polymer concentration. Drug loading and entrapment efficiency was ranged in 32.2 to 59.4 % and 30.1 to 64.8 %, respectively. Formulations with equal proportion of drug and polymer resulted in higher values of drug loading and entrapment efficiency. Percent yield was also found dependent on the relative drug polymer ratio with highest value of 51 % was achieved for the formulation having same drug to polymer ratio. SEM results confirmed the formation of spherical and porous structures. Structural analysis by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), powder x-ray diffraction (PXRD) showed the absence of any interaction between drug and polymer. In comparison to pure drug, NS formulations showed a linear intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) profile depicting a controlled release profile. Diffusion studies of NS formulations performed by Franz diffusion cell and dialysis bag methods showed comparable results in terms of precision and linearity of diffusion profile. Tablets prepared from the drug loaded NS showed acceptable values for hardness, friability and drug content. Release of drug from NS tablets was confirmed as sustained release behaviour.

Opis:
Low drug loading efficiency is the limiting factor in the use of pre-fabricated filaments for 3D printing of pharmaceuticals. The aim of present study was to modify the material properties of pre-fabricated filament by incorporating the suitable solubilizing aids in order to enhance the drug loading efficiency. Loratadine was loaded into PVA filaments by using solubilizers (Soluplus®, Sodium lauryl sulphate) and plasticizers (glycerin and Polyethylene glycol-400) and the printability of filaments was investigated. The treated filaments were characterized for morphology and diameter changes, drug content, FTIR and thermal properties and printed into tablets of suitable dimensions. The printed tablets were also characterized for drug assay and drug release. The results have shown that the surface of different drug loaded filaments become rough with almost no change in diameter hence, these filaments remained printable. However, there was 7 to 24 times enhancement in drug content of filaments treated with particularly those pretreated with glycerin and soaked in drug solution containing Soluplus. The printed tablets have also shown almost similar drug content as their precursor filaments and the release followed diffusion mechanism in most of the formulations. The study concludes that the treatment of PVA filament with solubilizer aids has significantly improved the drug loading entrapment without compromising the printability.

In this paper, we introduce a new family of univariate continuous distributions called the Gamma Kumaraswamy-generated family of distributions. Most of its properties are studied in detail, including skewness, kurtosis, analytical comportments of the main functions, moments, stochastic ordering and order statistics. The next part of the paper focuses on a particular member of the family with four parameters, called the gamma Kumaraswamy exponential distribution. Among its advantages, the following should be mentioned: the corresponding probability density function can have symmetrical, left-skewed, right-skewed and reversed-J shapes, while the corresponding hazard rate function can have (nearly) constant, increasing, decreasing, upside-down bathtub, and bathtub shapes. Subsequently, the inference on the gamma Kumaraswamy exponential model is performed. The method of maximum likelihood is applied to estimate the model parameters. In order to demonstrate the importance of the new model, analyses on two practical data sets were carried out. The results proved more favourable for the studied model than for any of the other eight competitive models.

Plant-based foods are becoming an increasingly frequent topic of discussion, both scientific and social, due to the dissemination of information and exchange of experiences in the media. Plant-based diets are considered beneficial for human health due to the supply of many valuable nutrients, including health-promoting compounds. Replacing meat-based foods with plant-based products will provide many valuable compounds, including antioxidants, phenolic compounds, fibers, vitamins, minerals, and some ω3 fatty acids. Due to their high nutritional and functional composition, plant-based foods are beneficial in acute and chronic diseases. This article attempts to review the literature to present the most important data on nutrients of plant-based foods that can then help in the prevention of many diseases, such as different infections, such as coronavirus disease, pneumonia, common cold and flu, asthma, and bacterial diseases, such as bronchitis. A properly structured plant-based diet not only provides the necessary nutrients but also can help in the prevention of many diseases.

The research aims at examining the impact of transformational leadership on job performance. Moreover, the research explores the mediating effect of High-Performance Work System (HPWS) in the relationship between transformational leadership and job performance. A purposive sample of 400 respondents from Omani service organizations was selected for the study. The results show that transformational leadership has a positive and significant impact on HPWS and job performance. Moreover, HPWS also has a positive impact on job performance. Partial support has been found for the hypothesized mediator role of HPWS in transformational leadership and job performance relationship.
Celem badania jest zbadanie wpływu przywództwa transformacyjnego na wyniki w pracy. Ponadto badanie analizuje pośredniczący wpływ systemu pracy o wysokiej wydajności (HPWS) w związku między przywództwem transformacyjnym a wydajnością pracy. Do badania wybrano celowo 400 respondentów z omańskich organizacji usługowych. Wyniki pokazują, że przywództwo transformacyjne ma pozytywny i znaczący wpływ na HPWS i wydajność pracy. Ponadto HPWS miał również pozytywny wpływ na wydajność pracy. Stwierdzono częściowe poparcie dla hipotetycznej roli HPWS jako mediatora w transformacyjnym przywództwie i relacji z wynikami pracy.

This study proposed holistic human resource development model in health sector. This study focused on human resources (HR) managers and the top management of the health sector in Pakistan. Using a qualitative methodology, the researcher focused on the selected phenomenological method. In this study, primary data collection was conducted through personal interviews with human resource managers and the top management of three health organizations in Pakistan. With regard to the sampling technique, the study would be based on a specific sampling. This article presents the results of the three research objectives. The first research objective examines the development and implementation process of the human resource development model in organizations. Second, intelligence quotient and emotion quotient programs are defined by organizations within the current human resource development models. Third, this study examines the organization's understanding of spiritual quotient and evaluates awareness of the importance of spiritual quotient for the development of human resource development model. It suggests that spiritual quotient is an important part of organizational development.
W badaniu zaproponowano holistyczny model rozwoju zasobów ludzkich w sektorze opieki zdrowotnej. To badanie koncentrowało się na menedżerach ds. Zasobów ludzkich (HR) i najwyższym kierownictwie sektora opieki zdrowotnej w Pakistanie. Korzystając z metodologii jakościowej, badacz skoncentrował się na wybranej metodzie fenomenologicznej. W tym badaniu gromadzono dane pierwotne w drodze wywiadów osobistych z menedżerami ds. Zasobów ludzkich i najwyższym kierownictwem trzech organizacji zdrowotnych w Pakistanie. W odniesieniu do techniki pobierania próbek badanie opierałoby się na konkretnym pobieraniu próbek. W tym artykule przedstawiono wyniki trzech celów badawczych. Pierwszy cel badawczy dotyczy procesu opracowywania i wdrażania modelu rozwoju zasobów ludzkich w organizacjach. Po drugie, iloraz inteligencji i iloraz emocji są definiowane przez organizacje w ramach obecnych modeli rozwoju zasobów ludzkich. Po trzecie, badanie to bada zrozumienie ilorazu duchowego przez organizację i ocenia świadomość znaczenia ilorazu duchowego dla rozwoju modelu rozwoju zasobów ludzkich. Sugeruje, że iloraz duchowy jest ważną częścią rozwoju organizacji.

Opis:
Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is widely used for manufacturing complex metal parts. The machining parameters like dielectric fluid, electrode material, current, voltage and pulse rate during EDM are controlled to obtain desired Material Removal Rate (MRR) and it also affects the surface morphology of manufactured components. In this research, effect of changing machining parameters, dielectric fluid (distilled water and kerosene) and electrode materials (copper and graphite) on surface morphology of Al 6061 T6 alloy during EDM is investigated. It is observed that the distilled water reacts with the molten aluminum and produces deep pits / voids on the surface due to liberation of hydrogen gas. A micro crack network is seen radiating from the edge of these pits. It is believed that the very high thermal conductivity of distilled water is responsible for the micro crack network and reduced material removal rate when compared with non-reactive kerosene oil.

Different parts of a plant (seeds, fruits, flower, leaves, stem, and roots) contain numerous biologically active compounds called “phytoconstituents” that consist of phenolics, minerals, amino acids, and vitamins. The conventional techniques applied to extract these phytoconstituents have several drawbacks including poor performance, low yields, more solvent use, long processing time, and thermally degrading by-products. In contrast, modern and advanced extraction nonthermal technologies such as pulsed electric field (PEF) assist in easier and efficient identification, character ization, and analysis of bioactive ingredients. Other advantages of PEF include cost-efficacy, less time, and solvent consumption with improved yields. This review covers the applications of PEF to obtain bioactive components, essential oils, proteins, pectin, and other important materials from various parts of the plant. Numerous studies compiled in the current evaluation concluded PEF as the best solution to extract phytoconstituents used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. PEF-assisted extraction leads to a higher yield, utilizes less solvents and energy, and it saves a lot of time compared to traditional extraction methods. Viral gastroenteritis and other water-borne diseases are the most neglected areas of research in Pakistan. To determine the quality of water, 4 enteric viruses were studied from different localities of Peshawar, Pakistan. The study validates the viral detection method for Rotavirus (RV), Human adenovirus (HAdV), Enterovirus (EV) and Hepatitis A virus (HAV), directly from water sources of rural areas of Peshawar, KPK, Pakistan. Overall, 95 five water samples were tested; among them, 9.47% were positive for RV, 38.94% for HAdV, 48.42% for EV and 12.63% for HAV. The presence of these viruses in water was directly correlated with meteorological data. High prevalence of EV and HAdV was detected frequently in the wet season from May – September, which can be the potential cause of spreading of gastroenteritis in the population. Environmental surveillance is an additional tool to evaluate the epidemiology of enteric viruses circulating in a given community.
