Opis:
Oat is an important winter fodder crop grown in large areas all over the world. Oat is a good source of nutrition and energy, but it is poor in zinc. Presently, livestock is suffering from malnutrition due to a deficiency of zinc, which has a greater impact on livestock and ultimately on human health. An easy and cost-effective approach to adding nutrients to plants without altering their genetic makeup is agronomic biofortification. Application of nutrients to oat via bio-fortification may enhance the overall biomass production and quality of fodder. Hence, a field study was performed to understand the impact of bio-fortification with zinc on quality along with biomass production of oats. Treatment comprised of control (No Zn), Zn at 4 kg soil application, Zn at 6 kg soil application, Zn at 8 kg soil application, Zn at 4 kg soil application+0.5% zinc sulfate as foliar application, Zn at 6 kg soil application+0.5% zinc sulfate as foliar application and Zn at 8 kg soil application+0.5% zinc sulfate as foliar application. The study revealed that Zn at 6 kg soil application+0.5% zinc sulfate foliar application produced maximum plant height (207.7 cm), leaf area index (15.78), crop growth rate (9.1 gm-2day-1), stem diameter (0.073 cm), number of tillers (204), fresh fodder yield (76.6 t·ha-1), dry matter yield (32.27 t·ha-1), ash contents (10.3%) and plant zinc contents (70.0 ppm). Control treatment produced maximum crude fiber contents (40.70%), acid detergent fiber contents (35.77%), and neutral detergent fiber contents (72.71%). In conclusion, the bio-fortification of zinc not only enhanced the biomass and yield of oat but also increased the availability of zinc in plants.

Background: Continuous change is a vital factor for organization’s sustainable growth and success. The implementation of modern information technology in business has become a core need of the hour. This study endeavours to answer how to cope with resistance to change when implementing new technology in the banking sector. A theoretical model has been developed with the blend of ADKAR change model, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Hofstede dimensions of national culture to investigate the impact of the ADKAR change model on Technology Acceptance under the moderation of two national culture’s dimensions. Materials and Methods: In order to collect data, 500 self-administered questionnaires were dropped personally in five major banks of five cities of Pakistan using the convenience-based employee intercept sampling technique. The validated response rate was 68% by having 340 fit questionnaires for analysis using covariance-based structure equation modelling with the help of SmartPLS. Results: The results uncover the significant existence of covariance between dimensions of the ADKAR change model and technology acceptance model. The findings are statistically significant, inferring the influential role of change management on technology adoption. Conclusion: The study results provide promising implications based on these conclusions and findings for both theoretical aspects of these different models and practitioners.

Opis:
A mesh-coupled axial blade distributor was tested for fluidization of particles in a swirling fluidized bed. The bed velocity was estimated experimentally using a high-speed imaging device and MATLAB supported particle image velocimetry (PIV). The bed velocity was also predicted statistically with a response surface analysis method. During statistical analysis, the confidence interval of bed velocity remained between 0.49485 and 0.49998. The bed velocity was measured about 0.49741m/s and 0.538m/s through experimental and statistical methods, respectively. The experimental and statistical analysis revealed similar bed weights and superficial velocities with a slight difference of 6.4◦ in blade angles.

Research background: Understanding how distortions in capital and labor markets affect corporate value and sustainable growth is crucial in today's economy. These distortions can disrupt resource allocation and economic sustainability. Additionally, the role of institutional quality in shaping these dynamics requires thorough exploration. Purpose of the article: We quantify the effect of capital and labor market distortions on corporate value and sustainable growth rate (SGR) and how this association is moderated by institutional quality. Methods: Stemming from the sample criteria, we calibrated a final sample of 1971 United States-listed manufacturing firms for 2012–2022. This research offers insights into market inefficiencies and institutional effects. Progressing towards objectives, we use advanced techniques like feasible generalized least squares and generalized methods of moments. These methods help us rigorously analyze complex relationships among study variables. Findings & value added: Three key findings emerge: first, capital and labor market distortions have a negative and significant influence on corporate value and sustainable growth. Our primary finding implies that increasing distortions significantly reduce sustainable growth's value and potential. Second, we find institutional quality has a positive significant effect on corporate value and sustainable growth. Third, institutional quality positively moderates the association between capital and labor market distortions, corporate value, and sustainable growth. Findings suggest that institutional quality, as a potential mechanism, improves the efficiency of resource allocation and optimizes the sustainable economic system to lessen the negative effect of factor market distortions on corporate value and SGR. Besides, we conduct robustness checks to validate our findings. Finally, we offer policymakers and stakeholders actionable insights.

Niniejsze opracowanie prezentuje rezultaty badania wpływu kursu walutowego Chin na bilans handlowy 41 państw Afryki Subsaharyjskiej w latach 1994–2016. Przy zastosowaniu rozszerzonego modelu grawitacyjnego, pogrupowane i niepogrupowane wyniki badania potwierdzają słuszność podejścia elastycznościowego i absorpcyjnego do bilansu handlowego. Podobnie test wrażliwości, dokonany poprzez podział analizowanego okresu na dwa podokresy (2005–2016 i 1994–2004), potwierdza słuszność podejścia elastycznościowego i absorpcyjnego do bilansu handlowego.
This study seeks to investigate theimpactof China’sexchange rate onthe trade balance of 41 Sub‑aharan African countries for the period from 1994 to 2016. Using an augmented gravity model, the grouped and ungrouped results of the study confirm the elasticity and absorption approaches of the trade balance. Similarly, the robustness check, by dividing the sample period into two sub‑eriods (2005–016 and 1994–004), also confirms the elasticity and absorption approaches of the trade balance.

Opis:
In maize-soybean intercropping systems (ICS), the morphophysiological growth traits and grain yield of component crops (CC), especially of soybean suffer greatly, owing to the dominance of maize in acquiring growth resources and shading effect. Thus, a field trial was conducted entailing maize hybrids (H1=YH-1898 and H2=YH-5427) and defoliation treatments (R1=removal of top two leaves, R2=removal of top four leaves, R3=removal of top six leaves, and R4=no removal of leaves) for boosting soybean (cv. AARI-soybean) growth and yield in maize-soybean ICS. The response variables included plant height (PH), 1000 grains weight, grain yield (GY), and biological yield (BY) along with the physiological growth traits (leaf area index LAI, leaf area duration LAD, crop growth rate CGR, and net assimilation rate NAR) of CC. The H1 hybrid of maize outperformed the other hybrid by recording 8% and 9% higher PH and BY, respectively, while the H2 hybrid depicted 18% and 6% greater 1000 grain weight and GY, respectively, along with NAR. Additionally, R1 H2 exhibited the maximum LAI, LAD, and CGR at 30, 60, 90, and 110 days after sowing (DAS). Contrastingly, soybean recorded 11% higher PH in intercropping with the H1 hybrid under R4 defoliation treatment along with significantly higher 1000 grains weight (13%), GY (57%), BY (10%), and NAR (157%). Moreover, soybean exhibited the maximum physiological growth in response to the R4 H1 treatment combination. On the basis of the recorded findings, the H2 R1 treatment combination could be recommended for boosting maize yield, whereas H1 R4 or H1 R3 could be adopted to bolster the growth and productivity of soybean intercrop, but at the cost of a significant reduction in maize yield.

To prevent environmental pollution, promote ecological restoration and impart production sustainability in biomass crops, optimization of mineral fertilization regimes is strategically required under changing climatic scenarios. There exist research gaps regarding optimal use of nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) fertilizers for the fertilizer-responsive cultivars of forage legumes like cowpea under decreasing soil fertility in semi-arid regions. Therefore, a multi-year field experiment was executed to study yield attributes, green and dry matter yields along with nutritional quality attributes of forage cowpea. The treatments were comprised of different N-P-K levels viz. F0=(0-0-0), F1=(150-0-0 kg·ha-1), F2=(150-100-0 kg·ha-1) and F3=(150-100-100 kg·ha-1). The findings revealed that F3 fertilization regime surpassed rest of treatments by recording the maximum plant population, plant height, leaf area index, plants fresh and dry weights, which led to the highest green forage yield (73% and 5.8% higher than control and following treatment of F2, respectively). For dry matter yield, all fertilization regimes performed better than control, however those were statistically at par to each other. Moreover, F3 treatment exhibited 4.4% and 1.6% higher crude protein and ether extractable fat respectively, compared to the following treatment of F2 treatment that remained at par with F3 for total ash content. Contrastingly, the control treatment remained superior by giving the minimum crude fiber content which could be attributed to dwarf plants produced in the absence of fertilizers because stem length tends to contribute the major portion of f iber content in cowpea. Thus, 150-100-100 kg·ha-1 N-P-K might be recommended to cowpea growers for boosting biomass productivity and nutritional quality, however further field investigations need to assess the impact of these fertilization regimes on biological N fixation process and solar radiation capture by cowpea plants under irrigated and dry semi-arid conditions.
