Opis:: W artykule przedstawiono genezę powstania innowacyjnej konstrukcji przenośnej aparatury sejsmicznej PASATA M. Przedstawiono jej zastosowanie do pomiarów sejsmicznych umożliwiających interpretację wyników w zakresie zagrożenia tąpaniami, jak i zagrożenia metanowego - zapalenia, wybuchu metanu. Scharakteryzowano parametry aparatury akcentując jej funkcjonalność.
The article features the development of a new innovative mobile seismic apparatus - PASAT M. The authors presented the application of the apparatus in seismic measurements which enable to interpret measurement results in terms of rock-burst hazards and methane hazards, such as ignition or explosion. The parameters of the apparatus were characterized with focus on its functionality.

Opis:: This paper focuses on the topic of creating a gesture-oriented user control system for robotic agents. For testing purposes we have used a Lego Mindstorm NXT self-designed robot and a Xtion Pro camera. Our construction consists of a NXT brick and three motors (two used for movement and one for the clutch mechanism). Our software is developed using C++ with NXT++ and OpenNi/NiTe libraries. System tests were performed in a real environment.

Opis:: Nitrogen compounds, as an essential component of many reactions occurring in living organisms, become the object of an extensive research. These compounds became the focus of interest after the properties of nitric oxide, currently the best known nitrogen oxide, had thoroughly been studied [1–3]. Recently, particular attention has been paid to nitroxyl (HNO/NO–), which is the product of one-electron reduction of NO• [4]. Formation of nitroxyl in vivo is still controversial. It seems that this compound could be formed by the reaction of S-nitrosothiols with other thiol proteins (e.g. GSH), directly through the nitric oxide synthetase (NOS), through the oxidation of hydroxylamine by the peroxidase activity of heme proteins or as a result of reduction of nitric oxide NO• [ 5, 6]. Nitroxyl is a liable compound due to dimerization, so it is necessary to use its donors in experiments. Angeli’s salt which forms HNO at physiological pH is the most commonly used donor [7]. Moreover, Piloty’s acid, cyanamide, diazonium diolates or a group of acyloxy nitroso compounds are also used. There are some difficulties with detection of nitroxyl in biological systems. So far, nitroxyl was indirectly identified by detection of N2O, a product of HNO dimerization. Presently, nitroxyl is an object of intensive studies aiming at finding techniques of its direct detection. Recently two such techniques have been designed: one using the reaction of HNO with triarylphosphines, and the other with BOT1 (staining agent) complexed with copper ions, which gives fluorescent signals revealing HNO in living cells [8, 9]. Nitroxyl turned out to have great pharmacological potential [10, 11]. It was demonstrated that this compound affected the activity of many proteins reacting with their thiol groups [12, 13]. Moreover, HNO/NO– influences the contractility of blood vessels and therefore has inotropic and lusitropic effects on myocardium [14]. Nitroxyl seems to be very promising in treating cancerous diseases as it inhibits the activity of an enzyme involved in the process which is the most important for cancer cells – glycolysis [15].

Opis:: Study determines the species composition and frequency of entomopathogenic fungi in the soil of Jata Nature Reserve (E Poland). Fungi were isolated from soil samples by 'insect bait method' with Galleria mellonella and Tenebrio molitor larvae. We found five species of entomopathogenic fungi: Beauveria bassiana, Isaria farinosa, I. fumosorosea, Metarhizium anisopliae and Lecanicillium lecanii. The two most common species M. anisopliae and I. farinosa comprised 50.1% and 21.8% of the total number of the infected insects, respectively. Species composition of entomopathogenic fungi in the examined stands and the number of infected insects differed significantly depending on the sampling season and insect used as bait.

Opis:: Single crystals and powder EPR spectra of Cu$\text{}^{2+}$ ions in Cs$\text{}_{2}$Zn(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{6}$·6H$\text{}_{2}$O were recorded in the temperature range of 4.2-300 K and the g-factor temperature variations were determined. The g$\text{}_{z}$ and g$\text{}_{y}$ have the values of 2.443 and 2.134, respectively, at the rigid lattice limit below 20 K, and then continuously tend to an average value on heating. This vibronic averaging produced by reorientations of Cu(H$\text{}_{2}$O)$\text{}_{6}$-complexes between Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral configurations is described in terms of a two-state Silver-Getz model which is known as a good model for diamagnetic non-ammonium Tutton salts. We found, however, that this model is only a crude approximation in Cs$\text{}_{2}$Zn(SO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{6}$·6H$\text{}_{2}$O below 150 K. Above this temperature the model works better and describes the vibronic dynamics between the two lowest energy potential wells in the adiabatic potential surface differing in the energy of δ$\text{}_{12}$=318(9) cm$\text{}^{-1}$=3.7 kJ/mol.

Opis:: A detailed computer analysis of the electron spin echo envelope modulations of SeO$\text{}_{3}$ radical in a suitable orientation of (NH$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{3}$H(SeO$\text{}_{4}$)$\text{}_{2}$ single crystal is presented. It was found that the modulations are due to a weak dipolar coupling with nitrogens and protons of the only two neighbouring NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups among the five NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups surrounding SeO¯$\text{}_{3}$ center. Isotropic dipolar coupling constant is 1.7 MHz for nitrogens and 0.9 MHz for protons. It was shown that thermal reorientations of NH$\text{}_{4}$ groups observed by NMR have a negligible effect on the electron spin echo envelope modulation pattern but can be responsible for the same value of a$\text{}^{H}$$\text{}_{iso}$ for all protons in a NH$\text{}_{4}$ group. A good fit obtained between experimental spectra and theoretical calculations assuming nondisturbed crystal geometry indicates a small damage of the crystal by X-rays during the radical center formation.

Opis:: This paper presents the study of algorithms for derivation of respiration waveform from the electrocardiogram. The problem has considerable clinical impact, because the heart rate and respiration are both driven by the central nervous system, and commonly used low-cost Holter recording may be used for efficient detection of breath disturbances (e.g. apnea). Three methods based on: heart rate, heart position and lung resistance influencing the ECG amplitude were compared in our research. Among 18 volunteers breathing at a controlled frequency all implemented algorithms show acceptable sensitivity of order of 97% in slow breathing phases detection. In fast breathing the sensitivity is reduced to 90%, since the heart beats are too sparse with regard of respiration waveform.

Opis:: In this work we show the impact of the roasting process on the properties of organic radicals in some herbal products added to cereal coffee. The EPR study shows the presence of radicals in dried herbal products, both natural and roasted. Changes in the relative intensity of the EPR signal and in the g-factor for unroasted and roasted plant material can be observed. This indicates to the recombination processes of radicals. Roasting process increases the number of radicals. The analysis of EPR spectra show that they consist of two Gaussian lines which indicate that there are at least two different kinds of radicals. The values of g-factor about 2 may be derived from a number of very different radicals. For this reason the identification of such radicals is not strictly possible.
