Opis:: Studies of effiiency of several methods for calculating the interaction potential of a pair of two-dimensional hard cyclic multimers - molecules formed by hard disks (atoms) placed at the vertices of a regular polygon - are reported in this work. Such hard-body particles, known as hard cyclic multimers, constitute a class of important reference systems in modeling structural and thermodynamic properties of molecular systems. A new method is proposed which can be easily implemented to Monte Carlo simulations of two-dimensional cyclic multimers and which is faster than the fastest method used previously.

Opis:: Once again, the study covered the role of road transport in combination with air, sea and rail transport and shared zones for pedestrians and vehicles. Two diverse ports located in Portugal have been chosen, first Marina de Albufeira and second Cascais Marina. Due to their specifics, the ports address the issues concerning traffic connections in a completely different way. The summary highlights and identifies the key features, pointed out by users, considered as advantageous or disadvantageous for selected European marinas from the point of view of transport and architectural and urban design solutions. Transport connections including car traffic, sea-lanes, rail traffic, pedestrian communication are presented in the paper. Network of communication connection in Marina de Albufeira and Cascais Marina is subject of the paper. The paper covered the role of road transport in combination with air, sea, rail transport and shared zones for pedestrians and vehicles.

The article describes and illustrates natural asphalts according to the classification due to the solubility of carbon disulphide. The review of bitumens and the sources of their acquisition aims to systematize knowledge on this subject in terms of practical application. Exemplary applications on an industrial scale, discussed natural asphalts with particular emphasis on their use in road construction have been presented.

The role of transport in selected European marinas can vary depending on location and conditions of an area. The study covered the role of transport in combination with air, sea, rail transport and shared zones for pedestrians and vehicles in Royan Marina (France) and Brighton Marina Village (Great Britain). Opis:: The impact of differentiation thinning on various aspects of structure of exemplary Silver fir stand, including overall diameter distribution, diameter spatial diversity, dimension dominance and spatial distribution pattern, is analysed. Comparison of empirical diameter distribution (before and after thinning) with a the−oretical Liocourt−Meyer curve and the results of structural analysis, lead to the general conclusion that in case of relatively simple−structured Silver fir stands, achieving a desired, plenter−like structure is a longterm process, requiring a lot of consistency and patience.

Opis:: Głównym celem pracy jest poznanie właściwości strukturalnych i funkcjonalnych popiołów lotnych, czyli odpadów przemysłowych, pochodzących z elektrowni opalanej węglem brunatnym, z punktu widzenia możliwości zastosowania ich jako wypełniaczy do mieszanek mineralno-asfaltowych (MMA). Analiza wyników przeprowadzonych badań laboratoryjnych: uziarnienia, powierzchni właściwej, zawartości wolnych przestrzeni, właściwości usztywniających w zaczynach asfaltowych wykazała, że popioły lotne nie spełniają wymagań stawianych wypełniaczom do MMA, gdyż powodują zbyt duże oddziaływanie usztywniające. Rezultaty badań własnych wykazały, że popioły te mogą być stosowane do MMA, jako tzw. wypełniacze mieszane, z udziałem tradycyjnie stosowanego wypełniacza wapiennego.
The main purpose of this work is to get to know the structural and functional properties of fly ashes, i.e. industrial waste from lignite-fired power plant, from the perspective of their use as fillers for hot-mix asphalt (HMA). Analysis of the results of laboratory tests: grain-size distribution, specific surface, air voids of dry compacted fillers, stiffening properties in bituminous mastics showed that the fly ashes do not meet the requirements for fillers to HMA, because they cause too much stiffening impact. The results of extensive research has shown that these ashes can be used for the HMA, as so-called the mixed fillers with the participation of limestone filler used traditionally.

Opis:: Recently, significant attention has been paid to the possibility of thwarting cancer progression by inhibition of neoangiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) in growing tumors. Although general mechanisms of angiogenesis have been elucidated, virtually nothing is known about the effects of low doses of ionizing radiation on pro-angiogenic properties of endothelial cells. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of a low (0.2 Gy), intermediate (1 Gy), and high (4 Gy) doses of X-rays on a few angiogenesis-related parameters of isolated murine endothelial cells. We show here that 24 to 48 hours after irradiation with 0.2 Gy the cell proliferation was inhibited to a similar extent as after the exposure to 1 Gy. Also, adhesion of the 0.2 Gy-irradiated cells to both gelatin and MatrigelŽ was inhibited 24 hours post-exposure, whereas irradiation with 1 or 4 Gy resulted in the increased adhesion of the cells to these substrata. Similar effects were observed during the "wound" migration assay. Finally, 24 hours after exposure of the cells to 0.2 Gy of X-rays, the surface expression of the â3 integrin subunit was down-regulated, whereas irradiations with 1 and 4 Gy of X-rays resulted in the significantly elevated expression of this subunit. These results indicate that proliferating endothelial cells are sensitive in vitro to relatively low doses of ionizing radiation

Opis:: The aim of this paper is to present the analysis and modeling of the hysteresis phenomenon using a Preisach operator. The fundamentals of parameterized hysteresis modeling are introduced, by utilizing three probability density functions. Then, the Preisach operator and its characteristics are defined. Subsequently, results of simulations obtained by means of the aforementioned functions are presented and compared to the ones obtained by other authors.

Opis:: The paper presents the implementation of the Elliptic Curves Cryptography (ECC) algorithms to ensure security in the distributed measurement system. The algorithms were deployed in the LabWindows/CVI environment and are a part of its cryptographic library. Their functionality is identical with the OpenSSL package. The effectiveness of implemented algorithms is presented with the comparison of the ECDSA against the DSA systems. The paper is concluded with future prospects of the implemented library.
