Opis:
To obtain a reasonable evaluation of the performance of waterjet propulsion at the design stage, a semi-theoretical and semi-empirical method is used to calculate the fundamental parameters of waterjet propulsion performance using an iterative approach. To calculate the ship’s resistance, a boundary element method based on three-dimensional potential flow theory is used to solve the wave-making resistance, and an empirical approach is used to evaluate the viscous resistance. Finally, the velocity and pressure of the capture area of the waterjet propulsion control volume are solved based on turbulent boundary layer theory. The iteration equation is established based on the waterjet-hull force-balance equation, and the change in the ship’s attitude and the local loss of the intake duct are considered. The performance parameters of waterjet propulsion, such as resistance, waterjet thrust, thrust deduction, and the physical quantity of the control volume, are solved by iteration. In addition, a PID-controlled free-running ship model is simulated using the RANS CFD method as a comparison. We apply the proposed approach and the RANS CFD method to a waterjetpropelled trimaran model, and the simulation process and the results are presented and discussed. Although there are some differences between the two methods in terms of the local pressure distribution and thrust deduction, the relative error in the evaluation results for the waterjet propulsion performance is generally reasonable and acceptable. This indicates that the present method can be used at the early stages of ship design without partial information about the waterjet propulsion system, and especially in the absence of a physical model of the pump.

Powszechnie przyjęte założenie, że każda ważna informacja naukowa jest dostępna w języku angielskim, przyczynia się do niedostatecznego wykorzystania wiedzy dostępnej w innych językach. Można jednak przypuszczać, że nieanglojęzyczne źródła naukowe przynoszą unikalne i cenne informacje, zwłaszcza w dyscyplinach, w których wiedza jest niepełna, oraz dla nowych problemów, gdzie synteza dostępnych faktów jest pilnym wyzwaniem. Jednak taki wkład wiedzy niedostępnej w języku angielskim i zastosowanie nauki rzadko jest określone ilościowo. W tym opracowaniu dowodzimy, że badania opublikowane w lokalnych językach dostarczają podstawowej wiedzy dotyczącej ochrony bioróżnorodności na świecie. Spośród przeanalizowanych 419 679 recenzowanych artykułów naukowych w 16 językach, zidentyfikowaliśmy 1234 nieanglojęzyczne publikacje dostarczające dowody na skuteczność interwencji na rzecz ochrony bioróżnorodności, w porównaniu z 4412 anglojęzycznymi badaniami, które spełniały te same kryteria. Takie nieanglojęzyczne prace są publikowane coraz częściej w sześciu z 12 języków, w których była wystarczająca liczba spełniających kryteria badań. Uwzględnienie badań nieanglojęzycznych może wzbogacić informacje anglojęzyczne poprzez rozszerzenie zasięgu geograficznego (tj. liczby komórek siatki $2^{\circ}$ × $2^{\circ}$ wraz z odpowiednimi badaniami) o 12-25%, zwłaszcza w regionach różnorodnych biotycznie, oraz zasięgu taksonomicznego (tj. liczby gatunków objętych odpowiednimi badaniami) o 5-32%, pomimo, że zazwyczaj opierają się one na mniej solidnie zaplanowanych badaniach. Nasze wyniki dowodzą, że synteza badań nieanglojęzycznych jest kluczem do przezwyciężenia powszechnego braku lokalnych, zależnych od kontekstu wyników i ułatwienia ochrony przyrody opartej na danych z całego świata. Postulujemy, aby wykorzystywać potencjał naukowych źródeł nieanglojęzycznych do nowej i rygorystycznej oceny w podejmowaniu decyzji dotyczących innych niż ochrona bioróżnorodności globalnych wyzwań.
The widely held assumption that any important scientific information would be available in English underlies the underuse of non-English-language science across disciplines. However, non-English-language science is expected to bring unique and valuable scientific information, especially in disciplines where the evidence is patchy, and for emergent issues where synthesising available evidence is an urgent challenge. Yet such contribution of non-English-language science to scientific communities and the application of science is rarely quantified. Here, we show that non-English-language studies provide crucial evidence for informing global biodiversity conservation. By screening 419,679 peer-reviewed papers in 16 languages, we identified 1,234 non-English-language studies providing evidence on the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation interventions, compared to 4,412 English-language studies identified with the same criteria. Relevant non-English-language studies are being published at an increasing rate in 6 out of the 12 languages where there were a sufficient number of relevant studies. Incorporating non-English-language studies can expand the geographical coverage (i.e., the number of $2^{\circ}$ × $2^{\circ}$ grid cells with relevant studies) of English-language evidence by 12% to 25%, especially in biodiverse regions, and taxonomic coverage (i.e., the number of species covered by the relevant studies) by 5% to 32%, although they do tend to be based on less robust study designs. Our results show that synthesising non-English-language studies is key to overcoming the widespread lack of local, context-dependent evidence and facilitating evidence-based conservation globally. We urge wider disciplines to rigorously reassess the untapped potential of non-English-language science in informing decisions to address other global challenges.

Combined with the characteristics of flotation feed originating from China’s Panyidong Coal Preparation Plant, the ash, zeta potential, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy and contact angle test were used to study changes in the surface properties of flotation feed under ultrasonic pre-treatment, and its effect on flotation of coal slime. Results show that Preferred pre-treatment process is ultrasonic secondary treatment, ultrasonic secondary pre-treatment can remove most of the high-ash fine mud for instance kaolinite, montmorillonite and quartz in the coal slurry, reduce the surface electronegativity of coal particles, and increase the contact angle of coal particles. Thus, the concentrate ash content decreases to 13%, the recovery rate, yield of flotation concentrate and combustible matter recovery reach 92.6%, 90.9% and 97.6%, respectively.

Ultrafine montmorillonite particles are the main clay minerals in industrial wastewater. In order to explore the flocculation performance and mechanism of flocculant with montmorillonite, the effects of nonionic polyacrylamide (NPAM) dosage and molecular weight on flocculation effect were studied using a flocculation sedimentation experiment. The morphology of flocs was observed by metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope, and the microscopic adsorption mechanism was studied utilizing density functional theory (DFT). The results show that the best reagent system for the montmorillonite sample is that the molecular weight of NPAM is 14 million and the added amount is 100 g/t. The floc size increases with rising NPAM dosage, forming a unique multi-level compact space network structure through polymer bridging. The adsorption energy of acrylamide on the Na-(001) surface of montmorillonite is -108.81 kJ/mol, which is significantly higher than -50.66 kJ/mol on the None-(001) surface. Hydrogen bonding is not the main reason for the adsorption of acrylamide on the montmorillonite surface. NPAM mainly causes the flocculation and sedimentation of montmorillonite through the processes of polymer bridging and electrostatic attraction. This study can provide a theoretical basis for the design and synthesis of new flocculants.

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to detect and analyze phenolic compounds in the surface waters of four urban lakes in Xi’an – Hancheng Lake, Xingqing Lake, Nanhu Lake, and Taohuatan Lake. A total of 5 phenolic compounds were detected from the water samples, with a concentration range of ND-100.32 ng/L, of which bisphenol A (BPA) and nonyl phenol (NP) were the main types of phenolic compounds pollution in the four lakes. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the concentration of phenolic compounds in the lake waters of Xi’an City and the water quality indicators COD, TP, NH3 -N, DO, and pH during the same period. It was found that there was a significant positive relationship between the concentration of BPA and COD, the concentration of estradiol (17-beta-E2), estrone (E1) and TP and TN, the concentration of octylphenol (4-t-OP) and pH. The ecological risk assessment (ERA) shows that the concentration of BPA, 4-t-OP and NP in the lakes is at a medium risk level( is between 0.1–1), and that of E1 is at a high risk level (is greater than 1). Female cells (breast cancer cells) and male germ cells (testis cells) of mice were used as research objects to explore BPA and NP Toxic effect on mouse germ cells. BPA and NP at a concentration of 10-8 mol/L were found to have the most value-inducing effect on MCF-7 breast cancer cells positive for estrogen receptor. Obviously, both BPA and NP can induce the proliferation of testicular Sertoli cells.

The interaction between fine particles is widespread in nature and plays a crucial role in regulating various interfaces for minerals. In coal preparation wastewater treatment, the intricate mechanism of interaction between multi-component fine particles in coal slurry water (denoted as CSW) is a fundamental aspect in addressing the challenges of coal slurry water agglomeration, selective separation, and difficult dewatering. This paper presents a summary of the necessity, current research status, and progress in studying the microscopic interaction between mineral particles in CSW systems. It overviews theoretical calculation formulas for particle-particle interaction, factors that influence such interaction, and modern analysis techniques for studying microscopic particle interaction. These findings enhance and refine relevant theories, establish a theoretical foundation, and offer technical support for stabilizing and optimizing the performance of CSW systems. Additionally, it elucidates the mechanism of particle-particle interaction in CSW, which is of significant importance in achieving efficient separation of CSW.

Opis:
In the paper, YSZ coatings were prepared on nickel-based alloy substrates by anodic electrophoretic deposition. The YSZ suspension solution was obtained under stirring and ultrasonic treatment, in which the anhydrous ethanol and acetylacetone were used as the dispersion medium and ammonium polyacrylate was used as the dispersant of the suspension. The effects of different deposition voltage and deposition time on YSZ coating were investigated. Meantime, the microstructure of the coating surface was observed by metallographic microscope. It was found that the high-quality YSZ coating could be obtained by deposition at 60 V for 2–3 min. Finally, the effect of sintering temperature on coating quality was investigated by X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that the YSZ coating bonded closely with the substrate after sintering at 1200 °C, and the porosity of the YSZ coating increased after sintering.
