Opis:
A theoretical model for calculation of equilibrium concentrations of isomeric butane molecule forms, and also the forms of hydrocarbons of the alkene series, is proposed. We considered the changes of internal rotational potential energy in respect of reaction coordinate, of rapid conversion of butane isomers from one form to another at room temperature. This is very important for better understanding of the nature of chemical reactions in butane, because the changes of internal rotational potential energy reflect conformational transitions of butane and changes of its chemical and physical properties. The presented model is based on Gribov's system of kinetic equations for isomer-isomer transitions. The canonical ensemble is used to calculate the room temperature probabilities of the rotoisomer conformational states as functions of dihedrial angle, and the obtained results are in good agreement with available ones. Also, in a sense of calculated lifetime of unstable rotoisomers (<$10^{-10}$ s), our results are comparable with coupled cluster and density functional calculations on alkene derivatives.

Opis:
The use of diamond as material for X-ray detector is subject of investigation and practice in radiotherapy, space and material science and technology. This paper presents the results of application of Monte Carlo method for simulation of photon transport through diamond detector. The aim is restitution and demonstrating of numerical technique for characterization of electrical properties for different detector conditions and configurations. Monte Carlo code was adopted to determine the energy deposited and dose distribution in the structure of diamond detector. Our results show that the use of numerical simulations may be of essential help in design of diamond detector systems.

Opis:
Biomolecular recognition is an open scientific problem, which has been investigated in many theoretical and experimental aspects. In that sense, there are encouraging results within Resonant Recognition Model (RRM), based on the finding that there is a significant correlation between spectra of the numerical presentation of amino acids in the primary structure of proteins and their biological activity. It has been found through an extensive research that proteins with the same biological function have a common frequency in their numerical spectra. This frequency was found then to be a characteristic feature for protein biological function or interaction The RRM model proposes that the selectivity of protein interactions is based on resonant energy transfer between interacting biomolecules and that this energy, electromagnetic in its nature, is in the frequency range of $10^{13}$ to $10^{15}$ Hz, which incorporates infra-red (IR), visible and a small portion of the ultra-violet (UV) radiation. In this paper, the quantum mechanical basis of the RRM model will be investigated using the solution in the simplified framework of Hückel-like theory of molecular orbits.

Opis:
Titanium alloys have found numerous applications in space research, and nuclear industry and research. Since X-rays constitute an important part of the space radiation environment, numerical simulations of radiation absorption characteristics of titanium alloys were studied in this paper. The photon transport Monte Carlo software was used for determining the energy deposited in titanium samples. The numerical results show the pronounced dependence of radiation absorption properties of different combinations of components in alloy. The results obtained are encouraging in respect of optimization of structure of alloys regarding their required features in radiation shielding.

To better elucidate the essential energy transmission mechanism in the most common, typical waveguides, the electromagnetic energy flow lines for a planar optical slab waveguide and a microwave rectangular waveguide are constructed. The obtained results supply more direct and transparent insight into the distribution of electromagnetic energy in the modes of various character.

Opis:
The wide use of beam splitters in quantum interferometry, attosecond metrology, modern quantum information processing, foundations of quantum mechanics, has been based on coherence of beams emerging from a beam splitter. Here we further develop the approach in which a beam splitter is regarded as a transformer of an incident wave field (photon field or matter wave field) into a field which has narrow maxima at the points along and in close vicinity of two or more particular lines. This description was derived by considering a thin grating as a model of a beam splitter for photons, atoms and molecules. It is applied to answer some questions raised in the discussions on the interpretation of wave particle duality.

Opis:
The experimental treatment of chosen material with laser beams, starting from continuous wave up to fs pulses, produces the necessity to find the common and sophisticated theoretical approaches to interaction modeling. For chosen materials, some laser treatment and damage analyses are performed. The provoked stresses and parameters of transport processes (penetration depth) are calculated by using the programs for electrical circuit analyses. Some inconsistencies in the treatment of large area laser-material interaction are discussed.
