This paper looks at how L2 students’ writing experiences relate to the way they think they can write poems and to further investigate if any types of writing experiences contribute to their perceived poetry writing ability. The paper starts by bringing up the value of introducing poetry writing to L2 students. Then, the literature review section highlights the characteristics of L2 poetry and the values of writing poetry in L2 writing classrooms. For the methodology, semi-structured interviews were used to elicit the participants’ understanding of their writing experiences. Additionally, a rating scale was used for the participants to identify their perceived capability of writing poetry. All 18 participants who were from regions that included countries from Eastern Asia, Middle East, or Africa, were L2 students from an M.A. TESOL program located in the USA. Through a hierarchical cluster analysis, the findings categorized these students as having five different types of writing experiences. Through a Pearson correlation test, the researcher also examined if any of the specific writing experiences were found to correspond either positively or negatively with the perceived poetry writing ability. The data suggest that if students recall more grammar and structured writing experiences, they are more inclined to perceive that they have a lower perceived poetry writing ability. Finally, the study seeks to contribute to educators’ understanding about the potential of poetry writing instruction in L2 writing classrooms. It can trigger the exploration for L2 students to find their own personal purposes of writing as multilingual writers.

Opis:
In traditional industries, manual grinding and polishing technologies are still used predominantly. However, these procedures have the following limitations: excessive processing time, labor consumption, and product quality not guaranteed. To address the aforementioned limitations, this study utilizes the good adaptability of a robotic arm to develop a tool-holding grinding and polishing system with force control mechanisms. Specifically, off-the-shelf handheld grinder is selected and attached to the robotic arm by considering the size, weight, and processing cost of the stainless steel parts. In addition, for contact machining, the robotic arm is equipped with a force/torque sensor to ensure that the system is active compliant. According to the experimental results, the developed system can reduce the surface roughness of 304 stainless steel to 0.47 µm for flat surface and 0.76 µm for circular surface. Moreover, the processing trajectory is programmed in the CAD/CAM software simulation environment, which can lead to good results in collision detection and arm posture establishment.

Opis:
Using traditional failure mode effects and criticality analysis (FMECA) to analyze the hazard of subway sliding plug door system, there are problems such as easy-to-take repetitive values, irrational allocation of expert's weights, and failure to consider the weights of evaluation factors. To address the above problems, this paper proposes an improved FMECA by using linear interpolation to increase the differentiation of the same fault probability occurrence among various fault modes. Apply the dependent uncertain ordered weighted averaging (DUOWA) algorithm to assign weights to different experts dynamically. The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used to endow weights to diverse evaluation factors to make them more suitable for engineering needs. We collected 1,836 days of metro train operation records from the Shanghai subway manufacturing plant and studied 17 common faults. Next, use a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategy to determine maintenance periods for different fault modes. Finally, through the Weibull distribution fitting test, the fault rate function of the door is obtained, and the remaining useful life (RUL) of the door is predicted. The consistency between the vulnerable parts obtained by our proposed method and the statistics of the maintenance records of the subway sliding plug door verifies the effectiveness and reliability of our improved FMECA.

Badanie wykorzystania mediów społecznościowych w polskich wyborach 2019 roku
A study of the use of social media in Polish parliamentary election of 2019

Social media has been increasingly used by political parties and politicians in Poland. Political parties or politicians use different social media platforms for different purposes, implying that they may have different impression management strategies on social media platforms. Nevertheless, there is few research deeply exploring and comparing the impression management strategies by Polish political parties and politicians on different social media platforms. In addition, it is argued that social media plays an important role during election campaigns not only regarding disseminating information but also creating a space for dialogue between the electorate and politicians. This thesis analyzes the use of social media during the Polish 2019 parliamentary election. In the thesis, the author present a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to examine how five Polish political parties and coalitions (Law and Justice, Civic Platform, The Left, Polish People’s Party and Confederation) and five politicians (Mateusz Morawiecki, Kidawa-Błońska Małgorzata, Zandberg Adrian, Władysław Kosniak-Kamysz and Krzysztof Bosak) deployed Facebook and Twitter during the 2019 parliamentary election campaign. The author will also examine whether these political groups and politicians had two-way communication on Facebook and Twitter during the election campaign. The data analyzed in this thesis consist of 157 posts and 136 tweets from 2019. The result of the analysis shows that these five parties/coalitions and politicians utilized different emotional appeals during the election campaign, and some of them focused on different topics on Facebook and Twitter. In terms of two-way communication, it is worth noting that during this election campaign both emotional and rational dialogues existed on Facebook, but the dialogue did not exist on Twitter during the election campaign.
Media społecznościowe są powszechnie wykorzystywane przez partie polityczne i polityków w Polsce. Partie polityczne lub politycy korzystają z różnych platform mediów społecznościowych do odmiennych celów, co oznacza, że mogą mieć inne strategie zarządzania wrażeniem na platformach mediów społecznościowych. Jednak niewiele jest badań dogłębnie badających i porównujących strategie zarządzania wrażeniami przez polskie partie polityczne i polityków na różnych platformach społecznościowych. Ponadto argumentuje się, że media społecznościowe odgrywają ważną rolę w kampaniach wyborczych nie tylko w zakresie rozpowszechniania informacji, ale także tworzenia przestrzeni dialogu między elektoratem a politykami.Praca magisterska analizuje wykorzystanie mediów społecznościowych podczas polskich wyborów parlamentarnych w 2019 roku. Autorka przedstawia Krytyczną Analizę Dyskursu (CDA), aby zbadać, jak pięć polskich partii politycznych i koalicji (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, Platforma Obywatelska, Lewica, Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe, Konfederacja) i pięciu polityków (Mateusz Morawiecki, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Adrian Zandberg, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz i Krzysztof Bosak) wykorzystało Facebooka i Twittera podczas kampanii wyborczej do parlamentu w 2019 roku. Autorka zbadała również, czy te grupy polityczne i politycy prowadzili dwustronną komunikację na Facebooku i Twitterze w czasie kampanii wyborczej. Dane analizowane w tej pracy to 157 postów i 136 tweetów z 2019 roku. Wyniki analizy pokazują, że te pięć partii/ koalicji wykorzystywało odmienne apele emocjonalne podczas kampanii wyborczej, a niektóre z nich koncentrowały się na innych tematach na Facebooku i Twitterze. Jeśli chodzi o komunikację dwukierunkową, warto zauważyć, że podczas tej kampanii wyborczej na Facebooku istniał zarówno emocjonalny, jak i racjonalny dialog, natomiast na Twitterze w czasie kampanii wyborczej nie było dialogu.

The adsorption behaviors of an ether amine surfactant, N1-(3-((8-methyl-nonyl)oxy) propyl)propane-1,3-diamine, on collophane and quartz were studied. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted to characterize the thermodynamic behavior of the adsorption process and to calculate the maximum adsorption. Results demonstrated that the adsorption of the ether amine on quartz was greater than collophane. Adsorption mechanisms were studied by means of contact angle measurement, zeta potential measurement, FT-IR analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that the adsorption of the ether amine surfactant on quartz surface was easier and more efficient than collophane. Micro-flotation tests testified that the collector can efficiently separate collophane from quartz at room temperature in neutral medium.

Owing to its high concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus, the slurry from water hyacinth (Pontederia crassipes) biogas production cannot be discharged directly without further treatment. To achieve the target of water recycling, a new strategy of combining a Carrousel oxidation ditch with a water spinach wetland was developed in this study for the harmless treatment of Pontederia crassipes biogas slurry. First, the water quality characteristics of the biogas slurry were measured. Then, comprehensive tests of the combined slurry treatment system were carried out to verify pollutant removal performance and mechanism. The results showed that the Carrousel oxidation ditch reduced the inlet pollutant load of the subsequent water spinach wetland. The chemical oxygen demand (COD), and ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) contents of the average effluent from the combined system were less than 50 mg/L, 1.6 mg/L, 6 mg/L, and 0.5 mg/L, respectively, which means that all met urban sewage treatment standard of Level 1 Grade A (GB18918-2002). Gas chromatography – mass spectrometry analysis showed that the combined system had decreased various types of organic pollutants in the biogas slurry exponentially, efficiently removing alkane pollutants, aromatic hydrocarbons, and heterocyclic compounds. Scanning electron microscopy images revealed very large surface area of the water spinach roots in the wetland, which played important roles in enriching the microorganisms and trapping organic matter. Plant absorption, microbial degradation, and filtration were the primary ways in which the water spinach wetland purified the biogas slurry.

In this paper, we study the Hamiltonicity of graphs with large minimum degree. Firstly, we present some conditions for a simple graph to be Hamilton-connected and traceable from every vertex in terms of the spectral radius of the graph or its complement, respectively. Secondly, we give the conditions for a nearly balanced bipartite graph to be traceable in terms of spectral radius, signless Laplacian spectral radius of the graph or its quasi-complement, respectively.

We have theoretically studied the optical bistability behaviors under an external electric field and a coupling laser field in double quantum dot molecule system with π-type four energy levels. It can be adjusted by the system parameters such as the electronic cooperation parameter, the tunneling strength, the coupling laser field, the probe and coupling laser detuning. These results may be useful in the experiment and provide new types of all-optical switching.

This study demonstrates how algorithms can assist humans in decision-making in the apparel industry. A two-stage method including suggestions and intelligent forecasting was proposed. In the first stage, a web crawler was used to browse a B2C apparel website to identify popular products. In the second stage, machine learning methods were used to predict the sales demand for new products. Additionally, we used Google Trends to collect external information indices to adjust the demand forecasting. Our numerical study shows that the intelligent forecasting approach can effectively reduce the Mean Square Error (MSE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) by at least 45.79, 26.35, and 26.34 %, respectively.
