Opis:
In his poems and essays, Adam Zagajewski often described the work of poetry as discovering and giving expression to the “radiance” of the world. I argue that Zagajewski’s conception of poetry has much in common with Plato’s idea that philosophy begins in wondering. I further argue that in both cases, our confidence in the veridicality of wonder depends on our ability to share in wondering with another person, and I suggest that we can see this dynamic in several of Zagajewski’s poems about listening to music.

Increasing solubility of $Mg(CF_3SO_3)_2$ and spectroscopic monitoring of the ion association and solvation phenomena in a magnesium battery electrolyte

$Mg(CF_{3}SO_{3})_{2}$-diglyme electrolytes containing adequate formamide amounts were studied for the first time by Raman spectroscopy in the range 0.1–1.1 $mol kg^{−1}$. The ion association was experimentally identified at the $υ_{s}(SO_{3}), δ_{as}(CF_{3} + SO_{3})$ and $δ_{s}(CF_{3})$ regions of the anion, and the high sensitivity of the symmetric angular deformation mode revealed that such a phenomenon is present from the most diluted salt solution. Quantum chemical computations were also employed for the first time to assign the most intense bands of non-associated triflate and associated to the Mg(II) cation. Despite the high ion association degree, the presence of formamide molecules in the solvation structures is an important parameter and may have substantial impact on the electrochemical performance of this new formulation.

The study aimed to examine the influence of body composition and menopause characteristics on certain temporal parameters of the behavior of vertical and anteroposterior components of ground reactive forces, as well as the vertical and anteroposterior rates on the walking of postmenopausal women. The sample consisted of 67 postmenopausal women, average age 59 years. Body composition was assessed by octapolar bioimpedance and ground reactive force by the Kistler force platform. Vertical loading rate correlated positively with age (r = 0.02) and negatively with weight (r = –0.33). The relationship between the rates of vertical loading and unloading associated positively with menopause time (r = 0.27) but negatively with weight (r = –0.27). Vertical unloading rate showed a negative association with abdominal visceral adiposity (r = –0.27). The relationship between the times of the intermediate and final phases of the support correlated significantly with abdominal visceral adiposity (r = 0.25) and fat mass (r = 0.24). The study suggests that fat mass and abdominal visceral adiposity affect the support time, and increased abdominal visceral adiposity implies a slower pre-suspension phase during the walking of postmenopausal women. Hormone replacement therapy was shown to be an enhancer of steeper vertical loading and anteroposterior unloading and longer time in the double support phase, indicating a greater stability of postmenopausal women when walking.

Opis:
Synthesis of Pb, Fe and Cd doped Hg-based $HgBa_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{8 + δ}$ (Hg-1223) superconducting ceramics was performed. Hg-free precursor $Ba_{2}Ca_{2}Cu_{3}O_{8 + δ}$ with high chemical homogeneity and reactivity obtained by the sol-gel method was used. The superconducting and impurity phases were determined by means of scanning electron microscopy and microprobe analysis. The results of resistivity and magnetization measurements for different kinds of doped elements were presented.
