Opis:
e-Choupal is an initiative of Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) Limited which came into existence in the year 2000 with an objective to link rural farmers via the Internet to procure agricultural products. Traditionally, agricultural commodities were procured in mandis, major agricultural marketing centers in rural areas, where the middleman make most of the profit. These middlemen used unscientific and unfair means to judge the quality and set the price of the product and therefore there has been less incentive for the farmers to invest and produce good quality output. With the formation of e-Choupal, the farmers were given a choice to sell their products freely diminishing the influence of the middlemen. This initiative also addressed issues like fragmented farms, weak institutions, and information asymmetry amongst farmers.This paper examines and evaluates the business model of ITC e-Choupal and studies the acceptance of this business by the farmers.

We examined the seasonal changes in burrow structure of Indian gerbil Tatera indica (Hradwicke, 1807) and Indian desert gerbil Meriones hurrianae Jerdon, 1867 by excavating their natural burrows in the Thar desert of India. Burrow system of T. indica is of a simple "Y" shaped type with one or two surface openings whereas M. hurrianae tend to congregate in complicated and extensive burrow systems with numerous surface openings. T. indica showed a seasonal shift in maximum burrow depth, i.e. from 35 cm in winter to 45-50 cm in summer.M. hurrianae did not exhibit any seasonal change in burrow depth.

Opis:
Oxidative degradation of a model environmental pollutant, p-Aminophenol (PAP), in aqueous solution has been investigated in an environmentally friendly advanced oxidation Fenton process. Effects of various operating parameters such as pH of solutions, dosage of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous ions, initial PAP concentration and temperature on the degradation of PAP have been studied using a batch stirred ceil. Degradation kinetics for this pollutant was also investigated to determine the apparent rate constants (min-1)- The optimum conditions for the degradation of PAP solution (200-500 mg/dm3) were found to be pH = 3.0, 2400 mg H2O2dm, 300 mg Fe2+/dm3, 30°C. Under the optimum conditions, the degradation efficiency of PAP was 75% after 50 min of reaction. It was observed that process parameters play a major role in the overall degradation process.

Opis:
In this study, a new circuit topology using a Z-source resonant inverter (ZSRI) for high power applications in large-air-gap contactless power transfer (CPT) systems, has been investigated. The main shortcoming of a large-air-gap CPT system is the poor power transfer efficiency due to low magnetic coupling. In order to minimize this shortcoming and to improve the overall performance of the system by boosting the power transfer capability, in this paper a CPT system with the newly developed circuit topology using high frequency Z-source resonant inverter has been proposed. Using the newly developed circuit topology for the CPT system, it has been observed that the overall performance of the system has been improved to a reasonable level with a purely sinusoidal resonant current flowing through the primary side. Therefore, no harmonics will be injected into the source. The proposed CPT system with an air gap of 16 cm and a misalignment of 3 cm has been simulated using the Maxwell finite element tool and Simplorer circuit simulation software for an output power of 2 kW.

COSMA: Coherent Optics Sensors for Medical Application is an European Marie Curie Project running from 2012 to March 2016, with the participation of 10 teams from Armenia, Bulgaria, India, Israel, Italy, Poland, Russia, UK, USA. The main objective was to focus theoretical and experimental research on biomagnetism phenomena, with the specific aim to develop all-optical sensors dedicated to their detection and suitable for applications in clinical diagnostics. The paper presents some of the most recent results obtained during the exchange visits of the involved scientists, after an introduction about the phenomenon which is the pillar of this kind of research and of many other new fields in laser spectroscopy, atomic physics, and quantum optics: the dark resonance.

Opis:
Phonon-plasmon interaction in inhomogeneous piezosemiconductor embedded with a nanoparticle cluster is examined using hydrodynamic model of plasma and macroscopic model of piezoelectric media. Present work dealt with the extensive investigation of acoustic wave amplification characteristics. The effects of density gradient δ and non-dimensional parameter l related to nanoparticle cluster on acoustic gain have been studied with varying medium electron density n_{0e}, wave frequency ω and velocity ratio ϑ_{0}/ϑ_{s}. The results so obtained, infer that the varying inhomogeneity and presence of nanoparticle cluster within the semiconductor plasma medium play decisive role in depicting the gain characteristics of acoustic wave.
