Opis:: This paper presents, in chronological order, the development of business intelligence concepts used to improve the quality of information services, implemented through computerized tools and productivity of the organization. The article is based on the literature studies concerning business intelligence, business intelligence competency center, center of excellence in business process management services and own thoughts and conclusions regarding the use of a competence center for the construction of digital analytical laboratory. The quintessence of this article is to verify the model of business intelligence competency center as a tool for building a strategy based on business analytics.

Opis:: Temat artykułu związany jest z ideą trzeciej rewolucji przemysłowej Jeremy’ego Rifkina, według której wiodącą rolę w trzeciej rewolucji przemysłowej będą odgrywały te przedsiębiorstwa oraz instytucje, które staną się jednocześnie elektrowniami produkującymi energię elektryczną ze źródeł odnawialnych. Ocena przedsiębiorstw i instytucji w warunkach trzeciej rewolucji przemysłowej będzie koncentrować się na efektywności energetycznej procesów biznesowych realizowanych przez te organizacje. W tym sensie podstawową jednostką organizacyjną w warunkach trzeciej rewolucji przemysłowej będzie inteligentna organizacja, rozumiana jako pojedyncza elektrownia lub klaster przedsiębiorstw bądź instytucji rozumiany jako mikrosieć elektroenergetyczna. W artykule wykazano, że wyniki tych rewolucyjnych przekształceń doprowadzą do powstania fraktalnej organizacji. Integracja współpracujących ze sobą – w sensie efektywności energetycznej – inteligentnych organizacji do postaci fraktalnej nastąpi dzięki wykorzystaniu koncepcji cyfrowego laboratorium analitycznego. Zostanie ono powołane do wykonywania analiz biznesowych i eksploracji procesów biznesowych z punktu widzenia ich efektywności energetycznej. Analityka biznesowa i eksploracja procesów oraz ich realizacja poprzez centrum kompetencji będą podstawą zarządzania korporacyjnego w warunkach trzeciej rewolucji przemysłowej.
Subject of the paper is associated with the idea of the Third Industrial Revolution by Jeremy Rifkin. According to Rifkin, every enterprise in the Third Industrial Revolution will be a green energy efficient micro-power plant. Enterprise valuation in the Third Industrial Revolution will focus on the energy efficiency of business processes within a micro-plant, between micro-plants in a microgrid, and between micro-plant/microgrid and the external environment. In this sense, the basic organization unit of enterprise will be smart organization, understood as isolated energy company or cluster of companies in the sense of energy microgrid. The paper argues, that the results of these transformations of enterprises will lead to the creation of fractal organizations. The integration of smart organizations into fractal organization will be concentrated around digital analytical laboratory, performing the analysis which could be described as business analytics and process mining. The paper argues, that business analytics analysis and process mining, and their implementation through competency center will be the core of enterprise management in the Third Industrial Revolution.

Opis:: This paper presents a theoretical concept of an intelligent enterprise. It is assumed that in the third industrial revolution key determinants of the effectiveness of the company will be associated with its function as an energy prosument. The study focused on the analysis of the smart grid and grid technologies helped define the following three forms of intelligent enterprise: single energy prosument, industry cluster understood in the sense of electrical microgrid dedicated for the group of energy prosuments and industry grid understood as a grid manufacturing virtual organization. This paper proposes the concept of business process competency center as an integrator of intelligent enterprise.

Opis:: The paper is part of the author’s research on developing a final project for the “Baltic University Programme (BUP) Teachers Course on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Higher Education,” which took place from September 17 to February 18. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the following course-related concerns: What is challenge-driven education and why should it be considered as a strategy for education for sustainable development (ESD)? What are the practical considerations and barriers to expanding challenge-driven education? The paper refers to strategic management in education. It describes challenge-driven education as an option for universities considering various sustainability strategies. The paper focuses on the proposed idea of BUP cloud academia for sustainable development, and analyzes the results of surveys on pros and cons of the shift to cloud computing.

Opis:: There is still many misunderstandings associated with the assessment of the barriers encountered in the process of IT solutions migration to the computational cloud and the benefits to be expected. The purpose of this paper is to organize the criteria used in this field, to analyze the dependencies between them. This will allow us to better understand the problem of migration to the cloud and to improve the decision-making processes related to it. A comprehensive survey was carried out, covering about 400 manufacturing enterprises in Poland using cloud-based IT solutions in various areas. The elements of the study were questions about the barriers and benefits encountered in this process. The paper analyzes the relationships between the obtained categories using diverse data mining methods: association rules mining and hierarchical agglomerative clustering. The obtained results allow to identify the conceptual structure and build a model of relationships inside the problem.
