Opis:
In Indian freshwater fish myxosporean infections are among the most cosmopolitan parasites, they are relatively well studied morphologically but their phylogenetic relationships were unclear and the genetic data is limited only to a few species. The study aims to present molecular data for two myxosporean species, Henneguya namae Haldar et al. 1983 and Myxobolus sophorae Jayasri, 1982 collected from Indian freshwater fish, the elongate glass-perchlet Chanda nama (=Ambassis nama) and pool barb Puntius sophore, respectively. In the present study molecular data are provided for H. namae and M. sophorae using nested PCR. The obtained partial 18S rDNA gene sequences were analyzed using maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) methods. The 18S rDNA gene sequences of H. namae showed similarity with the sequences of H. chaudhuryi, Henneguya sp. RA-2015, H. voronini and H. setiuensis about 72.1 to 78% and M. sophorae with Myxobolus ticto was about 90% respectively. The aim of this paper was to identify H. namae and M. sophorae morphologically and using molecular methods.

Opis:
We report the synthesis and characterization of the first pyrrolizine-embedded PAH systems. The bipolar core, based on a naphthalimide and indole fusion, was successfully synthesized through a one-pot cascade of Suzuki/Boc deprotection/Buchwald-Hartwig transformations. A facile post-functionalization of the unoccupied β-position of the heterocycle with aromatic amines as a donor subunit led to obtaining a set of donor-acceptor architecture-based dyes. Effective narrowing of the HOMO-LUMO gap, along with its tuning by the change in donor strength together with stabilization of π conjugation within the pyrrolizine-NAI core, provided a route to near-infrared (NIR) emission not only in solution (~740 nm) but also in the solid-state (~700 nm).

Opis:
Introduction. Thyroglossal duct cyst (TDC) is the most common cause of congenital neck mass. These can present anywhere from foramen caecum to mediastinum. Usually presents as a solitary cyst, the double thyroglossal cyst is very rare and a triple thyroglossal cyst has never been reported. Aim. Herein, we report an atypical case of triple thyroglossal cyst, at levels of hyoid, thyrohyoid membrane and thyroid isthmus managed surgically without any complication. Description of the case. We are presenting case of a 48-year-old female who presented to us with the complaint of anterior neck swelling since birth. On work up it was diagnosed as a case of the thyroglossal duct cyst and was intraoperatively found to have 3 distinct cystic swellings connected to a common stalk lying beneath the hyoid. It was successfully treated by modified Sistrunk’s procedure. There was no evidence of recurrence on follow up for 6 months. Considering atypical presentations, there are 9 cases reported with the double thyroglossal duct cyst, TDC within the thyroid gland and sublingual TDC. Such presentations make the diagnosis more challenging, leading to improper treatment. Conclusion. We are presenting this case as there is no case reported in English literature with a triple thyroglossal duct cyst. An awareness that thyroglossal cyst can present as multiple cysts is important for clinician in order to perform correct surgical management and to avoid the most feared complication of recurrence.

Opis:
Purpose: To independently and externally validate the Brain Tumour Reporting and Data System (BT-RADS) for post-treatment gliomas and assess interobserver variability. Material and methods: In this retrospective observational study, consecutive MRIs of 100 post-treatment glioma patients were reviewed by two independent radiologists (RD1 and RD2) and assigned a BT-RADS score. Inter-observer agreement statistics were determined by kappa statistics. The BT-RADS-linked management recommendations per score were compared with the multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) decisions. Results: The overall agreement rate between RD1 and RD2 was 62.7% (k = 0.67). The agreement rate between RD1 and consensus was 83.3% (k = 0.85), while the agreement between RD2 and consensus was 69.3% (k = 0.79). Among the radiologists, agreement was highest for score 2 and lowest for score 3b. There was a 97.9% agreement between BT-RADS-linked management recommendations and MDM decisions. Conclusions: BT-RADS scoring led to improved consistency, and standardised language in the structured MRI reporting of post-treatment brain tumours. It demonstrated good overall agreement among the reporting radiologists at both extremes; however, variation rates increased in the middle part of the spectrum. The interpretation categories linked to management decisions showed a near-perfect match with MDM decisions.

Opis:
Objectives: To determine the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for male permanent driving license (DL) applicants of Lucknow, India. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional community based, study body mass index, waist–hip ratio, blood pressure of each subject were determined as an anthropometric parameter along with the history of habit of smoking, tobacco chewing, alcohol consumption. STOP-Bang (Snoring, Tired or sleepy, Observed apnea, high blood Pressure, Body mass index, Age, Neck, Gender) Questionnaire – a scoring risk assessment tool – was applied for assessment of OSA risk (high OSA risk defined by score ≥ 3) for 542 male DL recipients at 2 Regional Transport Office (RTO) centers in Lucknow, India. The statistical software SPSS 17.0 was applied to the testing. Results: In total 23% (N = 125) of participants were found with the risk of OSA. High blood pressure (≥ 140/90 mm Hg) was found for the maximum number of participants (40.5%) followed by neck circumference > 40 cm (17.1%), age (> 50 years old) (15.3%), snoring (12.3%) and tired/sleepy (10.5%). Mean values of age, anthropometric measurements and blood pressure were observed significantly higher (p < 0.001) for participants with the OSA risk. In this population the risk of OSA risk (STOP-Bang score ≥ 3) was observed for 6.7% of young (< 35 years old), 34% of middle (35–45 years old) and 73% of elder age adults (> 45 years old). Conclusions: In view of findings of this study a high number of male driving license applicants were observed with the risk of OSA. Therefore efforts should be made to develop a national screening guideline/protocol for the OSA risk assessment for driving license applicants in India. This may reduce the possibility of road traffic accidents due to the OSA-associated fatigue and drowsiness behind the wheels. Int J Occup Med Environ Health 2018;31(1):25–36

Opis:
Introduction: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder notably linked to the development of central nervous system neoplasms – predominantly low-grade glial tumours like pilocytic astrocytoma. Highgrade glial neoplasms (HGG) are rarer and more prevalent in adults, with very few comprehensive studies on imaging features of the same. This study aims to investigate the imaging characteristics of HGG in patients with NF-1, to identify alarming imaging features that potentially indicate higher-grade tumours. Material and methods: Conducting a retrospective analysis, we examined histologically confirmed cases of HGG within clinically diagnosed NF-1 patients over 8 years. Our analysis scrutinised various imaging parameters, and histopathological and molecular data. Results: Eight cases of NF-1-associated HGG were identified. Predominant features included large tumour size (> 5 cm) in most (77.8%), intra-tumoral necrosis (77.8%), and moderate to marked perilesional oedema (55.55%). Notably, more than half were centred in midline structures. Molecular analysis highlighted diverse statuses of ATRX, IDH1R132H, and P53. Conclusions: This retrospective analysis of the largest single-centre dataset on imaging of HGG in NF-1 patients reported in the literature underscores that it may be more common than previously surmised. The need to look for alarming imaging indicators and raise suspicion in atypical locations like midline structures is essential for early detection and appropriate treatment.
