Opis:
This book ‘Digital Competences development’ offers a global, expert perspective on two key phenomena in the development of the information society, namely digital inclusion and digital exclusion. Despite the intensive digitalisation of various areas of human activity, the lack of proper ICT literacy, the lack of access to high-speed Internet, and the still unsatisfactory level of e-services are a reality in many regions and countries. The aim of the monograph is to explore the processes related to the dynamics of digital exclusion in the last two decades. The monograph also seeks to present effective or model educational solutions that foster the development of digital competences. The book offers a dual view of the digitalisation of the space of private and professional life from an international perspective, discussing the opera-tionalisation of digital exclusion, as well as presenting constructive solutions related to digital inclusion, the development of new media literacy, and the development of infrastructure and e-services that enhance the quality of life.

Opis:
This study examined the ICT integration used by student teachers from a public university during their teaching practices in four high schools in Indonesia. This qualitative inquiry with a case study approach focused on video-based observations and focus group discussions as techniques of data collection. We utilized random sampling for the video-based observation and purposive sampling for the focus group discussion with 60 participants in the discussion and 10 classes in the observation. We organized our analysis and discussion around the field facts and participants’ perceptions on the contexts whether or not the integration of ICT was carried out in their pre-teaching practices. Despite the fact that most participants who were student teachers informed that they had good competency levels and experience in the use of technology and believed that technology would have many benefits in improving their teaching performance, the findings of this study showed that they did not integrate ICT in their teaching practices. The major reason for this lack of technology use was the school condition. The findings can be a reference for the importance of a systematic and comprehensive development of method of the teaching practice in the 21st century to help the appropriate transition of student teachers, as they will become professional teachers in the future.

Purpose. This study explores the impact of instructional leadership, teacher self-efficacy, professional commitment and school climate on job satisfaction and performance among Indonesian secondary teachers. The research aims to identify the main factors driving teacher satisfaction and productivity within Indonesia’s educational context, providing insights for school leaders and policymakers to enhance institutional support, cultivate positive environments and strengthen teacher capacity. The study highlights the key determinants of teacher performance in Indonesian secondary schools. Design/methodology/approach. We used G* Power to determine the sampling; data were collected from 1,067 Indonesian secondary teachers through an online survey. This study employed partial least squares structural equation modeling to evaluate 13 hypotheses, facilitating the model’s complexity and predictive focus. The measurement and structural models were assessed using confirmatory composite analysis. Effect size (f2), coefficient of determination (R2) and predictive relevance (Q2) supported the evaluation of the structural model. Findings. The findings revealed that teacher self-efficacy significantly enhanced commitment and the school climate, with the most substantial relationships observed in this study. A favorable school climate, in turn, was closely linked to higher job satisfaction and, to a lesser extent, improved teacher performance. These findings underscore the critical role of teacher self-efficacy in fostering a supportive educational environment and boosting teacher morale and effectiveness. Enhancing teachers’ self-efficacy could be a strategic approach to improving the overall school climate and teacher performance in Indonesian secondary education. Originality/value. The current study underscores the necessity of cultivating leadership and teacher development cultures to enhance educational outcomes. The comprehensive statistical analysis in Indonesian secondary education has elucidated the interactions among the proposed variables, assisting policymakers and educators in improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement.

Opis:
This survey study utilized an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to understand factors affecting Social Media Use in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (SMU-TEFL) during the COVID-19 pandemic to help improve the integration of effective and efficient technology with traditional education methods. The initial survey instrument that was used was adapted from prior studies and was validated through content validity, piloted, and distributed to 287 EFL faculty members from ten Indonesian universities. Factor analyses (exploratory and confirmatory) were conducted to purify the instrument. Path analysis through Covariance-Based Structural Equation Modelling (CB-SEM) was used to assess correlations of the hypotheses which were supported by the Pearson correlation coefficient. The findings of the study informed a valid and reliable model that sufficiently explains variance to measure factors affecting SMU-TEFL during the Covid-19 pandemic. Six significant relationships out of eight hypothetical statements were confirmed and elaborated. It is recommended that future research be conducted in order to improve the integration of technology into TEFL courses, especially in pandemic situations.
