Opis:
In this study, we investigated the fatty acid composition and anticancer activity of neutral and polar lipid fractions extracted from Crassostrea gigas oysters cultured in Nha Phu Lagoon, Khanh Hoa Coast, harvested during the five months of January, April, May, September, and November. Analysis revealed that saturated fatty acids (SFAs) were the most abundant fatty acids in the neutral lipid fraction, followed by monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). Conversely, the polar lipid fraction exhibited a different order, with PUFAs being the most abundant, followed by MUFAs and SFAs. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were identified as the most prevalent polyunsaturated fatty acids, while oleic acid and palmitic acid were the predominant monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids, respectively. Notably, the combined content of EPA and DHA in the polar lipid fraction consistently exceeded 30% throughout all five months of analysis. Thrombogenicity index (TI) values ranged from 0.13 to 0.29 for the polar lipid fraction and from 0.6 to 1.1 for the neutral lipid fraction. Moreover, the polar lipid fraction exhibited significantly higher n3/n6 ratios compared to the neutral lipid fraction. The polar lipid fraction exhibited stronger inhibitory effects on the growth of the three cancer cell lines (HepG2, MDA-MB-231, and RD) compared to the neutral lipid fraction. The findings of the present study show that lipids extracted from C. gigas oysters cultured in Khanh Hoa Coast have a weak anticancer activity but may still aid in prevention and treatment of certain cancer types.

Opis:
Searches for planets and brown dwarf companions to evolved close binary stars (e.g., detached WD+dM binaries, sdB-type eclipsing binaries, magnetic CVs, and X-ray binaries) can provide insight into the formation and ultimate fate of circumbinary planets and brown dwarfs, as well as shed light on the late evolution of binary stars. The eclipse timing method has most successfully been applied to detect extrasolar planets around binary stars evolved beyond the first red-giant branch. We have monitored different types of evolved eclipsing binaries using this method since 2006. In this paper we review some observational results of circumbinary planets and brown dwarfs orbiting evolved binaries, especially those orbiting sdB-type eclipsing binaries. The fate of the Earth in our solar system is discussed by a comparison of the observational properties of the close-in substellar objects orbiting sdB-type binaries with those of planets in our solar system.

Opis:
We provide an overview of the status of Monte-Carlo event generators for high-energy particle physics. Guided by the experimental needs and requirements, we highlight areas of active development, and opportunities for future improvements. Particular emphasis is given to physics models and algorithms that are employed across a variety of experiments. These common themes in event generator development lead to a more comprehensive understanding of physics at the highest energies and intensities, and allow models to be tested against a wealth of data that have been accumulated over the past decades. A cohesive approach to event generator development will allow these models to be further improved and systematic uncertainties to be reduced, directly contributing to future experimental success. Event generators are part of a much larger ecosystem of computational tools. They typically involve a number of unknown model parameters that must be tuned to experimental data, while maintaining the integrity of the underlying physics models. Making both these data, and the analyses with which they have been obtained accessible to future users is an essential aspect of open science and data preservation. It ensures the consistency of physics models across a variety of experiments.

Opis:
This study used OWAS to analyze the working postures of construction workers on building the foundations of a log cabin. Three construction workers, with an average work experience of 40 years, participated in this study. Eight elementary jobs of building the foundations of a log cabin were videotaped at a construction site and analyzed later in the laboratory. For an overall distribution of trunk postures, OWAS identified that a bent and twisted trunk posture (34%), which fell into action category 3, was the major poor posture for construction workers. This study also identified that tying beams with steel bars, assembling column templates, and cement grouting of the ground were the 3 principal jobs in which workers building the foundations exhibited poor working posture. This article suggests ways to reduce and evaluate poor posture in a dynamic construction site.

Opis:
Thermal decomposition of HFC-134a at 900–1000 K was investigated using a laboratory scale reactor. The experimental results indicate that the lower initial HFC-134a concentration and higher reaction temperature could enhance HFC-134a decomposition efficiency. Based on the results of measurements, it seems that the reaction order is around 1. Its activation energy (Ea) and the frequency factor (A) in the investigated temperature range are 300.5 kJ·mol–1 and 2.96×1014, respectively. The results demonstrate that 99.9% destruction efficiency could be achieved when HFC-134a/LPG is below 0.5 and the excess air ratio – above 0.6.

Opis:
The interaction between foliar treatment with 100 mg∙dm–3 of both gibberellic acid 4+7 (GA4+7) and benzyladenine (BA) and vase solution containing 3% sucrose was analysed in cut Lilium ‘Alma Ata’. GA4+7+BA considerably delayed leaf senescence, suppressed anthocyanin accumulation in the leaves of plants held in the sucrose solution and improved the average longevity of the flowers and the vase life of the stems. Sucrose in the vase solution strongly reduced the abscission of leaves and contributed to the enlargement of the top flower. The number of significant interactions between the treatments indicated that the investigated factors acted dependently mainly on flower quality, while their action on leaf quality was mostly independent. Results show that combined treatment with growth regulators and sucrose may considerably increase postharvest quality of cut Lilium ‘Alma Ata’.

Opis:
Korean WA‐DGNSS is a large scale research project funded by Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Korea. It aims to augment the Global Navigation Satellite System by broadcasting additional signals from geostationary satellites and providing differential correction messages and integrity data for the GNSS satellites. The project is being carried out by a consortium of universities and research institutes. The research team at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute is involved in design and development of data processing softwares for wide area reference station and user segment. This paper focuses on user segment software design. Korean WA‐DGNSS user segment software is designed to perform several functions such as calculation of pseudorange, ionosphere and troposphere delays, application of fast and slow correction messages, and data verification. It is based on a layered architecture that provides a model to develop flexible and reusable software and is divided into several independent, interchangeable and reusable components to reduce complexity and maintenance cost. The current version is designed to collect and process GPS and WADGNSS data however it is flexible to accommodate future GNSS systems such as GLONASS and Galileo.
