Opis:: We present a detailed positron 2D-ACAR measurements study of the "ridge" Fermi surface of (R)Ba$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$ (R = Y, Dy) compared to full-potential linearized augmented plane wave and linear muffin-tin orbital calculations. From different 2D-ACAR projections measured in DyBa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$, a 3D model of the momentum density of the ridge was established and is in good agreement with LMTO calculations of YΒa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7}$, confirming the description of the ridge Fermi surface by local density approximation calculations. The ridge is also studied in oxygen deficient YΒa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7-δ}$. With growing δ, the ridge disappears without changing in width. This is consistent with full-potential linearized augmented plane wave calculations of YΒa$\text{}_{2}$Cu$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{6.5}$, and supports the phase separation model of Mesot et al.

Opis:: The genus Cylindrodesmus seems to actually comprise only two unquestioned species, (1) C. hirsutus POCOCK, 1889 (the type species), a pantropical anthropochore with bisexual populations, usually referred to as C. hirsutus, living in various places in the tropics, and parthenogenetic populations, normally referred to as C. laniger SCHUBART, 1944, occurring in numerous places in the tropics as well as in a few European hothouses, and (2) C. villosus POCOCK, 1898, from Rotuma Island, Pacific Ocean. Lectotypes of C. hirsutus, C. villosusas well as of C. palmyrae CHAMBERLIN, 1954, the latter a long-established junior synonym of C. laniger, have been select-ed, illustrated and discussed. As there are obviously no characters that would allow to distinguish C. laniger from C. hirsutus other than those apparently related to parthenogenesis, e.g. generally smaller body size, nor-mally a bit more strongly falcate/sigmoid gonopods in the residual males, and the vulvae devoid of well-developed receptacula seminis, the following new synonym is proposed: C. hirsutus POCOCK, 1889 = C. laniger SCHUBART, 1944, syn.n. Revision of the types of Inodesmus peduncularis LOOMIS, 1934, from Surinam, also results in its formal synonymy under C. hirsutus, syn.n. It is certainly because of the numerous C. hirsutus populations being thelytokous, more or less devoid of males, that this species, and genus, has a pretty long list of synony-mies. In addition, Elatosus CHAMBERLIN, 1945, monobasic, with E. pygmaeus CHAMBERLIN, 1945, from Java, is herewith formally synonymized with Cylindrodesmus, and E. pygmaeus with C. hirsutus, both syn.n.

Opis:: W polskim ustawodawstwie istnieje bardzo dotkliwa dla obywateli i przedsiębiorców luka dotycząca regulacji prawnych związanych z uciążliwością zapachową. Po przeprowadzeniu analizy publikowanych projektów aktów prawnych i literatury z tego zakresu stwierdzono, że „ustawa odorowa” w kształcie proponowanym przez administrację państwową nie może wejść w życie. Jako przykład gałęzi przemysłu będącej przyczyną powstawania uciążliwości zapachowej wybrano procesy produkcyjne, wykorzystujące surowce fosforanowe ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem produkcji superfosfatu prostego. W celu scharakteryzowania problemu dokonano analizy doniesień literaturowych dotyczących diagenezy i składu fosforytów pod kątem obecnej w nich fazy organicznej, z której w czasie produkcji nawozu powstają odoranty. W celu określenia obecności konkretnych związków odorotwórczych pobrano próbki gazów wylotowych z instalacji produkującej superfosfat prosty. Próbki te zanalizowano metodą TD-GC/MS pod kątem identyfikacji lotnych związków organicznych. Zidentyfikowano ponad 80 różnych związków, a wśród nich: dużo alkanów, cykloalkanów, aromatów i organicznych związków siarki. Najprawdopodobniej za złowonność gazów wylotowych w największym stopniu odpowiedzialne są właśnie związki siarki. Ze względu na znikome informacje dotyczące właściwości złowonnych mieszanin różnych związków nie można wykluczyć wpływu innych składników na zapach analizowanych gazów wylotowych. Ostatecznie ze względu na brak danych w dostępnej literaturze zaproponowano przeprowadzenie kompleksowych badań dotyczących związków organicznych w produkcji superfosfatu prostego. Z prognoz dotyczących wykorzystywania surowców fosforowych wynika, że w ciągu następnych kilku dekad czeka nas wzrost produkcji mineralnych nawozów fosforowych. Dlatego należy jak najszybciej uporać się z problematyką uciążliwości zapachowej.
There is no kind of odor control law in Polish legislation. Therefore Polish citizens and many branches of industry have got problems which are connected with the influence of volatile chemical substances which effect the air quality. Polish government attempts of solving this situation by proposing suitable projects were rejected by industry and scientist. The phosphate ores manufacturing especially superphosphate production was chosen as an example of a branch of industry which is a source of odors. To characterize odor problem in the light of superphosphate production the waste gases were analyzed and the results were compared in reference to professional literature. The gas samples were taken in FOSFAN SA company during superphosphate production and analyzed using TD-GC/MS method. There were identified over 80 volatile organic compounds like alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatic compounds. Probably the most significant influence for odor perception is connected with presence of sulfur volatile organic compounds. In addition to lack of professional data connected with smell of gas mixture consisted with different particles there is no possibility to exclude the influence of other particles for human smell perception. Finally the new method of further research was proposed. This research includes not only analysis of organic matter in waste gases but also in phosphate ores and superphosphate fertilize. To receive comparable results the whole research should be provided during the same day of production. This sort of research could give an solution for deodorization and preventing the decrease of air quality. It could be also helpful to develop new law projects. It is predicted that in the future the production of superphosphate fertilize will increase. Thereby the greater amount of odors will be released into the atmosphere. That is why further research combined with creating well functioning odor control law is so important to be established.

W polskim ustawodawstwie istnieje bardzo dotkliwa dla obywateli i przedsiębiorców luka dotycząca regulacji prawnych związanych z uciążliwością zapachową. Po przeprowadzeniu analizy publikowanych projektów aktów prawnych i literatury z tego zakresu stwierdzono, że „ustawa odorowa” w proponowanym przez administrację państwową kształcie nie może wejść w życie. Jako przykład gałęzi przemysłu będącej przyczyną powstawania uciążliwości zapachowej wybrano procesy produkcyjne wykorzystujące surowce fosforanowe ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem produkcji superfosfatu prostego. W celu scharakteryzowania problemu dokonano analizy doniesień literaturowych dotyczących diagnozy i składu fosforytów pod kątem obecnej w nich fazy organicznej, z której w czasie produkcji nawozu powstają odoranty. W celu określenia obecności konkretnych związków odorotwórczych pobrano próbki gazów wylotowych z instalacji produkującej superfosfat prosty. Próbki te zanalizowano metodą TD-GC/MS pod kątem identyfikacji lotnych związków organicznych. Zidentyfikowano ponad 80 różnych związków a wśród nich: dużo alkanów, cykloalkanów, aromatów i organicznych związków siarki. Najprawdopodobniej za złowonność gazów wylotowych w największym stopniu odpowiedzialne są właśnie związki siarki. Ze względu na znikome informacje dotyczące właściwości złowonnych mieszanin różnych związków nie można wykluczyć wpływu innych składników na zapach analizowanych gazów wylotowych. Ostatecznie ze względu na brak danych w dostępnej literaturze zaproponowano przeprowadzenie kompleksowych badań dotyczących związków organicznych w produkcji superfosfatu prostego. Z prognoz dotyczących wykorzystywania surowców fosforowych wynika, że w ciągu następnych kilku dekad czeka nas wzrost produkcji m.in. nawozów fosforowych. Dlatego należy jak najszybciej uporać się z problematyka uciążliwości zapachowej.

Opis:: In recent years calorimetric absorption spectroscopy has been developed to a powerful tool of semiconductor spectroscopy based on the detection of nonradiative relaxation processes. Calorimetric absorption spectroscopy is an ultrasensitive quantitative absorption technique. Recent investigations of Fe in III-V semiconductors and of InAs/GaAs quantum dots are presented here to illustrate the potential of the method. Sharp absorption lines are observed at the low energy onset of the Fe $\text{}^{3+}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{2+}$ charge transfer band in III-V semiconductors. Calorimetric absorption spectroscopy measurements in the mK range reveal a strong temperature dependence of their absorption strength identifying unambiguously Fe$\text{}^{3+}$($\text{}^{6}$A$\text{}_{1}$(S)) as a ground state. The excited state is attributed to (Fe$\text{}^{2+}$,h). The importance of exchange interaction for the observed fine structure is pointed out and binding energies are determined. The quantum yield of the intracenter $\text{}^{5}$Τ$\text{}_{2}$-$\text{}^{5}$E transition of F$\text{}^{2+}$ is determined to be below 50% at 2 K. A correlation between the nonradiative relaxation rate and the isotope splitting of the $\text{}^{5}$Τ$\text{}_{2}$-$\text{}^{5}$E transition is observed, demonstrating the crucial role of the dynamical Jahn-Teller coupling of the $\text{}^{5}$Τ$\text{}_{2}$ state to local Τ$\text{}_{2}$ modes for the multiphonon relaxation process. Quantum dots having a d-function density of states should exhibit no Stokes shift between absorption and emission as observed for one- and two-dimensional systems. Calorimetric absorption spectroscopy demonstrates ground state absorption coinciding in energy with the luminescence for self- organized InAs/GaAs quantum dot structures grown by MBE. Transitions into excited hole states are resolved and a comparison to photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy is presented.

Opis:: W wyrobiskach górniczych kopalni miedzi Polkowice-Sieroszowice stwierdzono występowanie botallackitu, stowarzyszonego z paratacamitem, klinoatacamitem, gipsem i halitem. Botallackit krystalizuje z bogatych w chlorki (3500 mg/dm3) wód kopalnianych o podwyższonej temperaturze (33°C). Na podstawie analiz składu chemicznego w mikroobszarze wyróżniono dwie odmiany botallackitu. Pierwsza z nich charakteryzuje się niewielką substytucją jonu Cu2+ przez Pb2+, Fe2+ oraz Zn2+. Średni wzór chemiczny tej odmiany obliczony na podstawie 50 analiz jest następujący: (Cu1,94Pb0,02Fe0,02Zn0,02) Σ = 2,00Cl0,98(OH)3,02. W drugiej odmianie botallackitu stwierdzono znaczą substytucję kationów Cu2+ przez jony Pb2+, Fe2+, Zn2+iMn2+. Średni wzór chemiczny tej odmiany, obliczony na podstawie 40 analiz w mikroobszarze jest następujący: (Cu1,85Pb0,09Fe0,04Zn0,02) Σ = 2,00Cl1,05(OH)2,95. Obliczone parametry komórki elementarnej (metodą Rietvelda) są następujące: a = 5,7165(2), b = 6,1362(2), c = 5,6325(2), β = 92,943(3). Botallackit jest najmniej trwałą polimorficzną odmianą substancji Cu2Cl(OH)3, która ostatecznie rekrystalizuje w znacznie bardziej stabilne polimorfy Cu2Cl(OH)3. Proces przemiany botallackitu może być spowalniany przez wysokie stężenie jonów Ca2+ w wodach kopalnianych. Również zastępowanie miedzi przez inne kationy dwuwartościowe może działać stabilizująco na strukturę tego minerału i zapobiegać jego dalszej transformacji. Wystąpienie botallackitu w kopalni Polkowice- Sieroszowice jest pierwszym udokumentowanym stanowiskiem tego minerału w Polsce.
The presence of botallackite was recognized in an underground galery in the Polkowice-Sieroszowice copper mine. This mineral coexists with paratacamite, clinoatacamite, gypsum and halite. Botallackite crystallized from chloride-reach (3500 mg/dm3), warm (33°C) mine water. On the basis of microprobe analyses, two types of botallackite were recognized. The first one contains only small amounts of Pb, Fe and Zn. These elements substitute Cu2+ ions in small proportions. Empirical formula of this botallackite is: (Cu1.94Pb0.02Fe0.02Zn0.02) Σ = 2.00Cl0.98(OH)3.02. The second type of the mineral were characterized by increased amounts of Pb, Fe, Zn. The empiric formula of this type of botallackite can be expressed as: (Cu1.85Pb0.09Fe0.04Zn0.02) Σ = 2.00Cl1.05(OH)2.95. The calculated unit-cell parameters of botallackite from Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine are as follows: a = 5.7165(2), b = 6.1362(2), c = 5.6325(2), β = 92.943(3). Botallackite is a least stable polymorph of Cu2Cl(OH)3 and finally transforms to more stable polymorphs. The botallackite recrystallization can be inhibit by high concentration of Ca2+ in the mine water. Substitution of Cu2+ ions by other divalent cations can slows the rapidity of recrystalization this mineral and prevent its further transformation also. The Polkowice-Sieroszowice mine is the first occurrence of botallackite in Poland.

Opis:: A comprehensive study of the direct photoluminescence from free-exciton states in GaN using polarization-dependent and magnetooptical measurements is presented. We measured and identified fine-structure splittings in the n=1 state of the A-exciton. From the magnetoluminescence data obtained in fields up to 15 T we determined the g-values of the conduction and valence bands parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis. Self-organized hexagonal GaN pyramids of 5 μm width and covered by six {11̲01} side facets were investigated by spatially resolved cathodoluminescence and micro-Raman spectroscopy. Beside a narrow luminescence peak at 355 nm, originating from the 2 μm thick GaN layer, an additional broad luminescence band was observed from the GaN pyramids around a wavelength of 357 nm. A strong energy shift is found along the {11̲01} pyramidal facets and directly visualized by monochromatic cathodoluminescence images and line scans. In GaN epilayers grown on GaAs substrates a series of sharp modes in the range between 60 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ and 250 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ for temperatures below 100 K was found. The intensities of these modes increased drastically with decreasing temperature. Raman excitation spectra showed a maximum between 514.5 nm and 568 nm. A comparison of spatially resolved investigations with that of intentionally doped GaN epilayers showed that the in-diffusion of As from the substrate plays an important role. Raman spectra as a function of external fields, like magnetic field and hydrostatic pressure, gave additional information about the defect type and the underlying scattering mechanism.

Opis:: We report an electron paramagnetic resonance investigation of the grain size effects on the polaron transport in the paramagnetic regime of nanosized La$\text{}_{2}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{3}$ Ca$\text{}_{1}\text{}_{/}\text{}_{3}$ MnO$\text{}_{3}$ manganites. The temperature dependences of the EPR integral intensity were analyzed in terms of spin-spin exchange interaction and small polaron hopping scenarios. The polaron activation energy decreases with the reduction of the grain size. A discussion is given concerning the factors which could explain the observed change.

Opis:: This paper reports on investigations of magnetic properties, crystal and magnetic structures on $TbMnO_3$ prepared in various ways, namely, as conventional polycrystalline sample and two nano particle specimens (synthesized with a sol-gel method at temperatures of 800 and 850°C). The X-ray and neutron diffraction data confirm the orthorhombic crystal structure (space group Pbnm, No. 62) without noticeable differences of the lattice parameters for poly- and nanocompounds. For the polycrystalline sample, a subsequent ordering of the Mn and Tb sublattices with decreasing temperature was observed. Namely, the Mn sublattice exhibits a modulated magnetic structure with the propagation vector k = (0, $k_{x},$ 0) in between 41-5 K. Below T = 21 K, a change from a collinear ($A_{y}$ mode) into non-collinear ($A_{y}G_{z}$ mode) structure was evidenced. Further decreasing of temperature below 10 K results in magnetic ordering of the Tb sublattice (modulated $G_{x}A_{y}F_{z}$ mode). For nanoparticle compounds, magnetic ordering in the Mn and Tb sublattices is described by propagation vector k = (0, $k_{y},$ 0), with $k_{y}$ components higher than observed for polycrystalline sample. The magnetic ordering in the Mn sublattice is described by a collinear $A_{y}$ mode down to 1.6 K where the Tb moment becomes ordered ($G_{x}A_{y}$ mode). The observed broadening of the Bragg peaks connected to the Tb sublattice suggests the cluster-like character of its magnetic structure.
