Opis:
This paper provides an answer to the question “is a web development process is essential to Small Online Businesses (SOB) in Western Australia”. This answer came through employment of online survey (N=127) SOBs that allowed the collection of both quantitative and qualitative data. Descriptive analysis was conducted with an indication that 71% of respondents are interested in attending subsidized/low cost training to improve the layout and navigation of their website. This is of importance, especially as the internet has become a primary medium for accessing information for businesses. This paper concludes with series of recommendations calling for the facilitation to allow SOBs attend free teaching and training at the university level which will allow greater awareness to web development process between users/designers.

This paper aims to examine the challenges of and perceptions about promoting students’ learning, communication, and interaction via the Wiki tool in the blackboard platform. Wiki intends to sustain and advance students’ professional and personal skills, the former ones including reading, writing, research, information, critical thinking, decision making, technology, digital oral presentation, drawing (i.e. concept maps), teamwork, and languages, and the latter ones including motivation, leadership, negotiation, communication, problem solving, time management, reflection, self-management, and self-appraisal. Additionally, integrating Wiki in teaching and learning will improve students’ work performance, productivity, and self-confidence, as these skills are needed for not only the current study, but also the workplace in the future. Additionally, using this tool in teaching and learning, especially in the higher education, can bring some challenges to the lecturer and students, particularly in the presentation and marking. This paper will discuss the Wiki implementation in the postgraduate unit at an Australian university. The study results confirmed that using Wiki in the postgraduate unit at an Australian university enhanced students’ personal and professional skills; in addition, students learned and absorbed the new concepts and cutting-edge-knowledge of the ITS65 unit, i.e. sustainability and Green IT.

Opis:
The article describes some preliminary results of the implementation of Work-Package 4 (WP4) “Selection and testing new IT tools” in the framework of the international research network (IRNet) and researchers from partner institutions from Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Australia. These results concern analysis and study of some categories of IT tools for making multimedia presentation. All the package period has been divided into 5 main stages. The role of multimedia in teaching is considerable as it offers various formats of presenting information simultaneously. The combination of text, audio, images, animation, video, as well as hyperlinks has an advantage of using both of the two main channels – visual and verbal – for presentation in an efficient way. This paper also discusses the features of effective presentation and examples of computer programs which may be used for this purpose. Authors presented a ranking list based on quality and quantity assessment of chosen IT tools and they proposed some characteristics of good presentation as well as they analyzed frequent mistakes made by users elaborating presentations.
